The company who has selected me as project Engineer and they have applied & appealed for EP. MOM-Singapore has rejected both and informing the general reasons for rejection. Now We will appeal(ii-time) and requesting anyone pl. help me to write a appeal letter which should be an attractive to MOM.
Answer: Yeah MOM is a tough nut to crack. No matter how good is your appeal letter is no use.
By the way, go through my checklist first:
Is the job you are applying related to your experience and education credentials?
Next, is your educational cert all certified correct?
Did you miss out any documents?
Go through the requirements page of the work permit form again and see if anything is lacking?
IF all seem to be in order, then the only way I can suggest is let your employer do the talking to any MOM officer. The best thing is in the morning.
Before , i was rejected also by the said organisation so my boss talked to them personally in such a polite way that they manage to listen and approved my application.

Answer: In Singapore you were caught theft. How much we you caught with. In Singapore this a very serious offense of a crime against the state and the person you stole from.
Oriental communities have a very dim view of theft.
You were denied entry back to their country again so your only appeal is to an embassy.

Answer: Foreign mid-level skilled workers, such as technicians who wish to work in Singapore may apply for a S Pass.
The S Pass is for foreigners who earn a fixed monthly salary of at least $1,800. S Pass applicants will be assessed on a points system, taking into account multiple criteria including salary, education qualifications, skills, job type and work experience.
S Pass applicants accumulate points based on how far they meet the criteria. As a general guide, these criteria can be broadly described as (for illustrative purposes only):
1. Salary - refers to a minimum fixed salary of $1,800.
2. Qualification - generally refers to degree or diploma level educational qualifications. Technical certificates can be considered. These are, very broadly, courses that train the applicant to be a qualified technician or specialist in their chosen field. The certification should comprise of at least 1 year of full-time study.
3. Job type - generally refers to professional, specialist or technician level jobs.
4. Years of Work Experience - generally refers to the number of relevant years of work experience that the applicant has for in the job being applied for.
Work Permit holders who wish to apply for the S Pass must ensure that they meet the above requirements.
The number of S Pass holders a company can employ is capped at a sub-quota, or Dependency Ceiling, of 25% of the company's total workforce. For Manufacturing, Services, Construction and Marine sectors, the 25% S Pass quota will come from companies' existing Work Permit quota.
You may take the Employment/S Pass Self-Assessment Tool to check if you qualify for an S Pass.
If an S Pass application is rejected, an appeal can be made can be made to the Work Pass Division, 18 Havelock Road, Singapore 059764 (within 1 month of receiving the rejection letter) with the following documents
1. An appeal form;
- For rejected applications submitted via old EP Online before 1 March 2008.
- For all rejected manual applications.
2. An appeal form (For rejected applications submitted via new EP Online on/after 1 March 2008); and
3. Any supporting information/documents that might support the appeal case.
It will take at least three weeks or more to process an appeal, depending on the complexity of the case. The outcome of the appeal will be sent to the employer.
The rejection letter will state the reason for rejection of your application. You may contact your employer seeking more details in regard to your question.

What is the maximum working hours per day/week allowed in Singapore MOM law?
Answer: Employees (non-shift), are not to work more than 8 hours a day or more than 44 hours a
week. If a non-shift worker works only 5 days a week, then it should be not more than 9 hours a day which is a total of not more than 44 hours a week on average. This applies to shift workers as well over any continuous period of 3 weeks subject to a maximum of 12 hours a day due to work safety reasons.
Additional hours worked would be deemed as overtime hours which is either 1.5 times or 2 times, calculated on hourly basic rates. Normal work hours including overtime hours are not to exceed 72 hours per week. If additonal hours are required, overtime exemption must be applied through the Ministry of Manpower. This is applicable to employees whose basic monthly salary do not exceed $2,000 and workmen with basic monthly salary not exceeding $4,500.

Why does my work pass always got rejected by MOM Singapore?
Thank you sir. I was applied by my employer for an SPASS. I am a BSMA- Commerce graduate from one of the the University in the Philippines. I applied for Telesales Officer position on a one year old Company. I had an almost 5yrs working experience in a call center industry. Im not pretty sure though how many foreigners they have in their company at present. However, looking at their staffs i might be the only Filipino.
Answer: There're 3 main categories of work passes in Singapore.
1) Work Permits (skilled/unskilled with or without experiences)
2) SPass (semi-skilled with some qualification/certification or experience)
3) Employment Pass (skilled with qualification and certification or experience)
Depending on which type you've applied (or your prospective employer had applied for you) as well as the industry in which you're seeking your employment in, and many other factors determines whether you'll be approved or rejected, based on your qualification by merit.
Furthermore, there're also criterias to be considered in terms of suitability of your being employed and if your work experience is related to the job seeked. Employers in Singapore are subjected to a quota system whereby the number of foreign workers allowed to be employed in the company is pegged to the number of local emploees. In addition, some companies may have to adhere regulations like only allowed to employ NTS (non-traditional source) for certain Work Permit and industry. See below :

Why is Singapore not part of the Australia work holiday visa scheme when they are part of ours? Dampening~?
I was searching through the list of countries eligible for a work holiday visa in Australia and was unhappily hit with the fact that Singapore is not part of the countries allowed. I did a check on the Singapore MOM side and found out that we allow the ozzies to work and holiday here but not us? Thats kind of biased in my opinion, since other asian countries such as Taiwan and HKSAR get that privillege. Anyone knows why?
Answer: I don't think anyone outside the two governments actually knows the answer to your question, but I do know that there are always extensive negotiations between countries regarding special visas and that agreements must be signed before the visas are made available. Perhaps Singapore has less stringent requirements than Australia related to the relative probability of visa overstayers and the actions to be taken when/if this occurs.

Is it possible to get Singapore EP without cancellation of Malaysia EP ?
Hi Friends,
I am currently working in Malaysia and having Malaysian Employment Pass(EP) , now I got a offer from Singapore. Can I leave Malaysia to Singapore without infroming my employer here and without cancellation of EP. If I do so, would I face any probelm in MOM singapore to get their EP or any other legal constraint ?
Any help would be highly appreciated.
Please note that I am not doing anything wrong illegal here. Only thing is my malaysian company have 2 months of notice period whereas my company in Singapore can not be ready for that. In that case I have no other option but to leave malaysia without cancellation of EP.
Answer: MOM in Singapore will not check if you have EP anywhere else in the world when issuing you with an EP.
However, it is wrong for you to leave Malaysia without informing your employer. That is a breach of contract and you will face problems getting an EP in Malaysia in the future should you try to get a job in Malaysia again. Depending on the circumstance of your departure (why would you leave a job without even resigning? Sounds suspicious to me) you may even be barred from or arresting upon entering Malaysia in the future if it's a criminal case. FYI, Singapore and Malaysia have extradition agreement, so you can be arrested in Singapore and sent back to Malaysia to face charges.
Why not just resign after you have secured the job offer and approval for EP from Singapore? Why run?
EDIT: Well, you do have an option to resign and provide compensation in lieu of the notice period you cannot serve. Please remember that Malaysia and Singapore are very close with many people and companies that deal with both countries. You do not want to leave behind a bad reputation that may catch up to you one day. And if you do leave your company without resigning, it is still wrong no matter what your excuse. While not criminally illegal, it is still wrong.

Answer: Are you hold EP ? i think is Employment Pass Eligibility . this pass allow you to stay here for max one years ,for you to get a job. after someone wish to hire you, you may apply Employment Pass, subject for approved (normal case,yes ). if you hold Philippines passport need not VISA , so, Phi immigration and airline will not ask any questions you need to show the EPEC letter when arrive Singapore for passport check. ( If you really hold EP , you have EP green card for immigration , or you EP is approved , show them the letter , there (ICA) will allow you to enter , but you need to go to MOM get EP dons between a week )

The company who has selected me as project Engineer and they have applied & appealed for EP. MOM-Singapore has rejected both and informing the general reasons for rejection. Now We will appeal(ii-time) and requesting anyone pl. help me to write a appeal letter which should be an attractive to MOM.
Answer: Yeah MOM is a tough nut to crack. No matter how good is your appeal letter is no use.
By the way, go through my checklist first:
Is the job you are applying related to your experience and education credentials?
Next, is your educational cert all certified correct?
Did you miss out any documents?
Go through the requirements page of the work permit form again and see if anything is lacking?
IF all seem to be in order, then the only way I can suggest is let your employer do the talking to any MOM officer. The best thing is in the morning.
Before , i was rejected also by the said organisation so my boss talked to them personally in such a polite way that they manage to listen and approved my application.
