University of London, External Programme?

After careful consideration and career tests I have found out Im interested in teaching history or becoming a curator of a museum. The problem is in UAE there are no History courses which can help me. I researched alot and came across University of London External Programme. My parents are very skeptical of Distance Learning. How good is UOL- External Programme. BA in History as starting. Since i cannot afford to travel abroad to study, also there are no good universities here in UAE. Should i use distance learning for the profession i have selected? Is UOL good? How should i convince my parents? My dad was EVEN suggesting to go to Preston University which does everything beside providing education. I have done O levels in 5 Subjects with Grades in A & B. & two subjects in A levels.
Answer: The UOL degree is first class, highly desirable - and very tough. Your papers will be graded by the Law Society of England.
