New wonders of the world VS. original 7 wonders of the world.?

What do you guys think of the new 7 wonders of the world as compared to the old? I think these are the old... : - Pyramids in Egypt - Taj Mahal in India - Great Barrier Reef in Australia - Great Wall in China - The Leaning Tower of Pisa in Italy - Statue Of Liberty in America - Eiffel Tower in France and heres the NEW 7 wonders : - Chichén Itzá in Mexico - Christ Redeemer in Brazil - Great Wall in China - Machu Picchu in Peru - Petra in Jordan - The Roman Colloseum in Italy - Taj Mahal in India personally i have no clue on Petra and Christ Redeemer. i really have no idea WHAT they are, except from photos seen in the news. I think Machu Picchu, Taj Mahal and the Great Wall deserve their titles most. SOmehow, am a little disappointed that The Leaning Tower of Pisa and the Eiffel Tower, my personal favourites, didnt make the cut. *sigh...* what do YOU think?? P.S : correct me if im wrong on any of the abovementioned wonders. (=
Answer: gr8 job!

Where would you go? (Asia vs. Africa vs. Australia vs. Europe vs. South America)?

Ive already been to Europe (Germany, France, Austria, Switzerland), so i dont know if I want to go back there. If I did, I would go to Spain, the Czech Republic (I have a friend there), and Croatia (my family comes from Croatia). India also sounds really enticing, but so do Australia, Egypt/Israel/Jordan, Japan/China, Thailand/Vietnam, and Argentina. Where should I go? Which trip sounds the most exotic? Choices: - Europe (Spain, the Czech Republic, Croatia) - Middle East (Egypt, Israel, Jordan) - India (I would visit the Taj Mahal, Jaipur, Mumbai, tea lands) - East Asia (China [Hong Kong, Beijing], Japan [Tokyo]) - Southeast Asia (Vietnam, Thailand) - Australia (I would go to Sydney, Perth, Cold Coast, Ayers R.) or - South America (Argentina, Uruguay, Brazil)
Answer: Come to Sri Lanka Bob. it is a nice little island in Indian ocean. please visit my website. http://www.dudleysrilankatours.com

Aside from Team USA, what other good basketball teams can you think of?

And Im talking about national teams aside from team USA. In my mind, I got Team Pilipinas(Philippines), Team 中国(China) and Team Jordan. I know Spain and Argentina are also good, but I think many people already know that. BQ: What teams (international) would you like too see match-up? Ex: Team Pilipinas vs. Team 中国.
Answer: Serbia: most world championships all time (last two were 2002 and 1998), world university games champions (Russia 2nd USA 3rd), world under18 champions. Greece: beat USA in the last world championship 2006 Spain went on to win and are defending world champs. European Champions 2005. Russia: last euro championship winners (2007) France: many NBA players including Parker, Gelebale, Diaw Germany: finalists 2005 Eurobasket Italy, Lithuania, greece are basteball powerhouses too. Argentina won the Olympic games in Sydney before USA won this last one. Lebanon and China are the top teams in Asia. Croatia,Slovenia and many other European countries could challenge too

This grisly inventory finds the total number of deaths in conflicts since 1950 numbering about 85,000,000. Of that sum, the deaths in the Arab-Israeli conflict since 1950 include 32,000 deaths due to Arab state attacks and 19,000 due to Palestinian attacks, or 51,000 in all. Arabs make up roughly 35,000 of these dead and Jewish Israelis make up 16,000. These figures mean that deaths Arab-Israeli fighting since 1950 amount to just 0.06 percent of the total number of deaths in all conflicts in that period. More graphically, only 1 out of about 1,700 persons killed in conflicts since 1950 has died due to Arab-Israeli fighting. (Adding the 11,000 killed in the Israeli war of independence, 1947-49, made up of 5,000 Arabs and 6,000 Israeli Jews, does not significantly alter these figures.) In a different perspective, some 11,000,000 Muslims have been violently killed since
Answer: Chinese killed in civil war in the 20th century 100,000,000. Looking at the negative only can be depressing. With the figures you have posted, the world is killing itself off?More people ALIVE than ever. While there are more killings than ever, there have never been this many people. FEWER people have died in the 20th century as a percentage as opposed to overall numbers? How many died violently in war in the 19th, 18th, or 17th century as a PERCENTAGE of the overall population? Before you can judge those of the 20th century fairly, you must make fair comparisons with ALL the other centuries. Look at the War of the Roses (this long civil war in England decimated the population). make fair statistical comparisons .........even the figures themselves are suspect and cannot be determined sometimes

Do you agree with this world War 3 scenario?

Ok i came up with this scenario. Allies, United States, Europian Union India,Tawian,Brazil,Canada,Mexico,Monnacco, south American, British Commenwelth, japan, south korea, Isreal and Turkey. Vs. The Eastern Allence, Iran,Pakistan,Iraq,Bangledesh,China,Russia,Syria,Lebenon Afican Union,Yemen, and Panama. Major Neautral Countrys, Saudi Aribia,Jordan,Vietnam,Cental America Countrys,Indionesia, and Laos. Plus a third alliance undeclared to eather side. Venizula,Columbia, Chili,Columbia, and Haiti. The Undlecared side allince will fight both the sides in farious places. The will fight the Eastern alliance for contoll of the panama canal and the Allies for purto rico, Key West islands virgin Islands, Jamaca and french gurani. My main questons about this are do you aggree with this scenario and what are the odds that something like this wil happen. And if you agree that there can be 3 sides in war. Thanks
Answer: Neutral countries win because they've got Saudi Arabia and Jordan, and they have most of the oil, and could win by cutting off the supply to everyone else's tanks and economy... If they can keep the U.S. and Israel out long enough or blow the derriks and stop the whole damn show. It would probably work: the Iraqis managed to destroy most of their oil production before the US invaded, and I bet the Saudis watched that rather closely. The neutrals and the easterns would join forces because they share the common goal of defending against US imperialism. The combined strength of the US, Israeli and EU armed forces would just mop the floor with the other sides anyway, if they have oil to power their weapons. African Union is organized enough to defend themselves in meaningful ways, but we'd beat them anyway through brute force in a fair fight. Panama is definitely going down. The US will want to keep the canal under a friendly government to move troops, even if its neighbors see it as a target too. There would be a similar three or four way battle over Suez, and both of them would probably be rendered useless to prevent it from being used. Venezuela would be much more important after the conflict because they would be the only oil producer not in direct conflict with the US. As for the odds of this happening, I don't see why it would. We're friends with the African Union, bangladesh isn't that evil, and the Saudis would probably be happy selling everybody oil and staying out of the fight. Countries besides Panama want Panama, so that part could concievably happen, although Panama is currently good friends with the US. And there might be a war with three sides or more, but opposing sides tend to sign treatys with people they don't really like when necessity dictates. The US and the USSR fought together to destroy the greater evil of Hitler.

Constitutional Monarchy vs Republicanism...?

What is your opinion? And please comment on my argument given below: BTW, I might be biased as I am from the UK lol. Constitutional Monarchy is undeniably the most tried and tested, stable system of democracy that exists. Every year the UN compiles a list of the best countries in the world to live, based on the quality of life of the citizens. And every year, despite the fact that there are more republics in the world, most of the top 20 are CMs, and most of the top 10 are CMs, and the top of the list is always a CM. Countries such as Canada, Australia, Japan, Norway, Sweden, Denmark, Spain, Luxembourg, Belgium, The Netherlands, The UK. These are all near the top of the list. And when you compare CMs and Rs around the world that are close to each other and have a lot in common with each other: - Would you rather live in Jordan or Iran under Mahmoud Ahmedinejad? - Would you rather live in Japan or The Peoples Republic Of China under Hu Jintao? - Would you rather live in Morocco (the best, most stable African country by far) or Zimbabwe under Mugabe? Or any other African Republic for that matter? And when you look at the recent history of Europe: Britain has been a tried and tested, stable democracy for the past 3 and a half centuries because it has been a CM for that long. France turned into a republic and they got Napoleon. Germany turned into a republic and they got Hitler. Hitler said himself he was able to worm his way into power because there was no Monarch as Head Of State any more (The Kaiser had been forced into exile after WW1). A Monarch gives us a Head Of State who does not represent a political party like a President would. She does not represent any political views. She creates unity in the country, whereas a politician creates division. And unity is created when all the MPs and all the Armed Forces swear allegiance to 1 person. And the average person off the street has respect for the Monarch even when everyone hates the government. These things are priceless and you can not have them in a republic. So I think Constitutional Monarchy is best. Would you agree or disagree? Thanks. Just a figurehead? The Queen is responsible for calling new elections, opening Parliament and dissolving Parliament. And she is responsible for appointing and removing Ministers. I would say it is better that a Monarch does those things than someone who is from one of the political parties. @Strappado Right, youre saying that Britain went through a gradual change...executing the king and becoming a republic which quickly turned into a military dictatorship (like most republics do at some point), and then creating a Constitutional Monarchy when Cromwell died. How is that a gradual change?
Answer: "France turned into a republic and they got Napoleon. " You seem to assume that Napoleon set himself up as some sort of evil tyrant or military dictatorship, similar to Hitler. Napoleon was elected and appointed to his position, but unlike Hitler he did not acquire that position via blackmail, backstabbing, and assassination. When he was First Consul Napoleon was not a dictator. Although that all-powerful position of First Consul had the power to propose legislation, it was the specialized sections of the Council of State that wrote them: finance, legislation, war, navy, interior. There was no secrecy; the ministers attended the meetings and the consuls' approval was required to enact a law. And what a sense of human relations the First Consul showed as he participated in the meetings of the Council, asking questions and encouraging discussion! In what democracy today do we find the head of state discussing and arguing about the country's affairs with the citizens' elite in this way? Where do we find that in Hitler's tyranny? When Napoleon became Emperor of the French, it was, for all intents and purposes, a constitutional monarchy. Although Napoleon held much political power, a government still existed that did not serve merely a tyrant. It's important to go back to the role of the important Council of State, the basis of the legislative system. The council members, senior officials, and auditors made up a extraordinary body, surprising its worth and technical skill. It dealt with all bills, gave its opinions, and ruled on appeals addressed to the Emperor. Twice a week the Emperor chaired the meetings. The presence of the man whose law ruled from the Atlantic to the plains of Poland did not inhibit those attending. On the contrary, the legislative policy of France was enacted there without the least absolutism, and in a way, it was the entire government. So I'm not sure if I quite answered the question. I agree that constitutional monarchy and bring order and law out of a country that recently witnessed domestic and international violence and anarchy, as was Napoleon's case, but I don't agree that he was some sort of dictator.
