Answer: A bi-metallic strip is used for heat sensitive switches say as in central heating thermostats.
Two strips of thermo sensitive metals both of a different kind such as steel and copper are bonded together. Each strip is expands differently to a temperature thus when warmed this causes the bi-metallic strip to buckle and this kinetic movement is used as a switch trigger.

You need the linear expansivities of all the metals in question.
In a bimetallic strip if the temperature rises the strip will bend with the metal of the higher expansivity on the outside of the curve (because the outside of the curve will be slightly longer than the inside of the curve).
Similarly the metal with the higher expansivity will be on the inside of the curve if the temperature falls.
As typed out the question is meaningless since it does not state that the strip is horizontal with a flat face in a horizontal plane. We have to assume that the strip is aligned as I describe.
Assume that since metals are good conductors the upper and lower strips attain equal temperatures quickly.
You have to decide which of the two metals needs to be on top for the middle of the strip to drop ("concave upwards") for the cube to be in a stable configuration and stay on top of the strip.
