why is it ok for italy and india to has aircraft carrier but not china?

Answer: China does have two Ex-Russian Kiev class carriers (Kiev and Minsk) and one Kuznetsov class carrier (Varyag). None are operational. Kiev is to be a theme park Minsk is rusting away Varyag was sold on the condition it was to be used for scrap only, but after the sale, that condition was renegotiated. It was sold only 2/3 complete and since the Chinese have completed about 70% but much of that is in doubt based on forensic examination of photographs.

Answer: Taiwan is included in the Four Tigers of Asia, this means they are pioneers in economic growth and stability. Unfortunately China is not included. Taiwan is not a warmongering country, so it has no need for carriers. Having carriers means a country is prepared to do battle and damage other countries. So much for the talks of "peace" when you have a carrier. This is another reason why Hong Kong also does not respect China, the talks of peace while making battle stations does not have credibility. The devil works by promoting deceit and manipulation.

In an effort to calm cross-strait relations, it appears that the PRC will name its new aircraft carrier "Sa Jhen-Bing" instead of "Shi Lang". http://liberty24.blogspot.com/2011/06/chinas-first-aircraft-carrier-to-be.html Is this news accurate? When will the carrier set sail for its maiden voyage? (I find the use of a hyphenated name to be of some interest, too, since such names are no longer customary in the PRC. Does this mean the ROC in the process of retaking the Mainland?)
Answer: Don't get on high horse just because of change of name. Intention of PRC hasn't changed a bit even though they have planned to change the name.

Has China Started Work on a second aircraft carrier, if not, then when?

Ive seen several artist concepts of Chinese carriers that are apparently on the drawing board. I just wondering if any physical construction has been started.
Answer: China is tight lipped about its future naval plans, but foreign military experts foresee China gradually building a sizable aircraft carrier fleet. There are two types of aircraft carriers that China needs: fixed-wing capable and helicopter assault carriers. China will launch its first fixed-wing capable aircraft carrier later this year. The carrier has a "ski-jump" launch system similar to that developed by the British, Russian, and Italian navies. It will carry 40 to 60 warplanes plus 15 to 20 helicopters. This will be the first of many similar vessels the China will launch to safeguard its territorial waters and overseas commercial interests. China is also developing amphibious-air assault ships. These vessels have a landing deck for helicopters and interior berthing for beach landing craft. The United States Navy has over a dozen of these carriers, so China needs to counter that capability over time. America has the world's largest navy by far. China is not looking to match America, but rather to guard its own territory and interests, just like America does. No one should be afraid of China's military development, except those countries who have bad intent.

Answer: I doubt that this is any indication of the Red Star rising. China has touted a military that relies on equipment the U.S. has considered outdated for 25 years. Britain, Australia, Israel, Japan, and indeed most U.S. allies have shown no fear of any uprising from China because a war with China would not be ground-based. The U.S. and its allies have such an incredible advantage in Air Force and Naval air power that small spats like this only work against China.

When will China build its first aircraft carrier?

I know India is slated to receive an older Russian carrier soon along with fifth generation joint developed Indo-Russian jets and China has been developing its own fourth/fifth generation aircraft based on MIG designs and Beijing has repeatedly announced its right to build a carrier fleet but I have not heard about when they plan on doing this? They want one that bad then, I dont know guys made in Japan used to be the joke of the automobile world. Then 20 years later auto domination. I know China had bought a carrier from the Ukraine (Soviet made) , but there was an agreement to never bring this back in service. I suppose they bought it to study the design. I think China will build one eventually sort of a National pride thing.

why does china still not have a single aircraft carrier?

Back during the period of WW2, countries like France, Brain, Japan and the United states already boasted aircraft carriers. China however still does not have aircraft carriers. I think after decades of development, all those countries should have succeeded in taking their military powers to new levels, including China, Then, why is China still without aircraft carriers. The news says that China has already started manufacturing aircraft carriers. If so, why didnt they do it until now? Was it because China didnt have the capacity for the manufacture of aircraft carriers that most top military powers already had seventy years ago? Or was it because of some other reasons? How many aircraft carriers do you think China is capable of producing if they are really determined to do it?
Answer: First, one has to have a reason to build aircraft carriers. Great Britain, Japan and the United States built aircraft carriers in the 1930's as a result of the limitations of the Washington and London naval treaties which limited how many battleships they could build. Carriers were a way around that. Carriers were also useful for policing far-flung empires (Britain, USA) or promoting territorial expansion (Japan). France by the way didn't build a decent carrier until the early 1960's and then it was for the same reason as the British in the 30's - to patrol what was left of her overseas empire. Until recently, China didn't have a good reason to build aircraft carriers and one could argue they still don't. They might like to have aircraft carriers to meet some foreign policy objective but by no means do they NEED them.

What do you think of China turning away our aircraft carrier at Thanksgiving time?

Answer: I think it was petty (no pun intended, sorry). Not only was it the carrier, but the entire carrier group. First the Chinese said, "no, you can't come", then, literally 2 days later said, "sure, you can come". They were jacking with the navy, for sure. One of my son's fellow officers on their destroyer had forked out $3000 for a plane ticket for his wife to get to HK to see him at Thanksgiving. No go, of course. Shi*ty? You bet. I think every American should boycott ALL Chinese goods indefinitely. I have for over 15 years. All the more reason, now.

Answer: The missiles aren't really a threat. They are nothing without good target acquisition and that is something the Chinese simply don't have. Very long range anti-ship missiles have consistently proven themselves to be nearly useless because of the TA problem. At anything beyond the horizon accuracy drops like a rock.

China’s intention to build up its own aircraft carriers, viewed as an essential component of building the “blue water” navy able to deploy beyond its coastal waters, has not surprised China watchers. China has purchased four decommissioned carriers: the Melbourne (1985), the Varyag (1998), the Minsk (1998) and the Kiev (2000) from Australia, Ukraine and Russia respectively. Only the Varyag, now docked in Dalien, seems to be a candidate for refurbishment to operational status after photos seen in December 2005 appeared to show activity on the deck to apply new coatings consistent with aircraft operations. Some specialists, however, believe that these four carriers — which are different in terms of function, designation and structure — must have been used to expedite China’s research and development capabilities in developing its own model. There have been many reports regarding China’s aircraft carrier intentions. In October 2006, the Russian newspaper Kommersant reported that Russia had signed a US$2.5 billion arms sale contract with China to deliver 48 SU-33 fighters, which the Sukhoi Aviation Bureau designed specifically for carrier operations. Jane’s Defence Weekly reported in October that the People’s Liberation Army [PLA] was training the first batch of 50 cadets to become naval pilots capable of operating aircraft from the mock-up carrier at the Dalian Naval Academy. IMHO: All this is evidence that China has a more ambitious and impending timetable than many might think. An aircraft carrier is perceived as a potent symbol of national power. Answer: 1. In about 5 years. 2. Yes. Most first carriers are converted from other platforms. This will give China a working carrier so they can decide what they want on thier first home built carrier. 3. Yes. The 17th Century belonged to France, the 18th to Germany, the 19th to the United Kingdon the 20th to the United States and the 21st will be China's. China knows that to be a great world power they will need a strong Navy and that the only Navy worth competing with will the be the US Navy. Just as the US and Russia competed in the Cold War of the late 20th Century so too will the US and China compete in the Second Cold War of the early 21st Century.

Answer: The US has 11 active aircraft carriers. The Chinese are retrofitting a Russian hulk aircraft carrier called the Varyag. Does it matter, yes. Are our economies ridiculously intertwined? Yes. The Chinese military is emerging as a major military force. Regardless. They are 20 years behind, and their principal worry is Taiwan. Believe me, diplomacy is the ONLY course of action between our nations.
