What is better, considering buying a home?
Just wondering. I live in the Twin Cities area, and I live in a 2nd or 3rd tier suburb, and I love it where I live, Im near friends, and on a direct bus line to where I work downtown. I rent a 1 bedroom right now, and I have a good deal, but Im thinking I would love to buy a home. I was looking online, and where Im at now, or the next suburb over, I would only find either a condo or townhouse, which comes with association dues. I did a little more of a general search, and found some actual houses for less than condos or townhomes, but theyre in cities/towns out a ways, very outer edge of the burbs or so. Id have to drive somewhere to catch a bus to work, and Id be away from friends, but Id save on association dues, and Id be living in the country so to speak. Is it worth it? With gas prices the way they are, would it be worth looking into? Also, some of those homes have 3+ bedrooms, when I really only need 2, and might need some fixing up. Worth it???
Answer: well you said many things. where do you see yourself in 5 years? family? married? Income?? Buying a home is a huge purchase condos and townhomes have their advahtages and disadvantages. What I suggest is take a blank sheet of paper and on one side put the advantages on the other put the disadvantages. Put a price tag on each advantage. like gas saved oe what ever. Put a price tag on disadvantage like association fees etc. Keep in mind houses are worth more always, 3 br homes are easier to sell then 2. Homes require landscape maintenance etc. When your done add up the pros and cons and see which is cheeper. Writting this down will help visualise what you are trying to do. good luck

I need an inexpensive hotel in the outskirts of chicago near the blue line?
I will be in chicago for a weekend vacation soon. I am drinving there from ohio but will be relying on public transportation once there & will be out late drinking so i need a hotel that isnt too expensive but where i can catch the blue line (or red line) back to it at all hours of the night wasted. the ones downtown are too expensive for me (im looking to pay $60-$70/night for 3 nights). i dont mind if the train ride is a little long but would rather not have to transfer much b/c i plan on being drunk. any suggestions?

Answer: First of its at least $79 for the avg hotel in Chicago on weekdays. You can try hostels.com to get as low as $30 per night. The University of Illinois Chicago is right next to the blue line and the Greyhound (latter 2 are opp. on the same street). Try to hook up with a dorm person through Craigslist or go on google maps to find local businesses near the address of UIC. The blue line runs diagonal from O'Hare airport . So try the CTA website for nearby hotels, although its inadvisable to walk around wasted in the trains.

I am a teacher in California and want to know how public schools are in Austin Texas?
I will be relocating to Austin Texas sometime next year. I will be teaching middle school. How do Texas schools compare in treatment of teachers?
I can tell you in Los Angeles, sometimes you dont even get paid and have to stand in long lines in Downtown LA to get your paycheck. It is a nightmare! Buying my condo last year, I feel like I live in poverty (and I have a Masters Degree)

What areas have a large percentage of English Language Learners and Free Lunches? How do kids stand up nationally on standardized tests? What is discipline like in most schools? The only personal relevance I can offer you is that I'm familiar with both cities (having lived in LA and grown up near Austin), and perhaps the general differences between the two cities will also hold true, comparatively, between the two cities' school systems.
In my personal experience, Austin's inner city climate is *much* better than LAs (smaller, less crime, less gangs, etcetera) - Of course that’s not to say Austin is perfect or has none of the problems you're worried about - but on the whole I think you are making a good choice.
Also, please let me applaud you: If you were/are in the situation you say you are, trying to get thru to kids who need education the most - but are the least likely to actually get it - then you're a hero. Really.

Metro Red Line – North Hollywood 757 Express route:
From Downtown Los Angeles, take the Metro Red Line to the North Hollywood Station. Then take the North Hollywood 757 Express bus to the McBean Regional Transit Station (MRTC). From there connect to a Santa Clarita Transit routes 3 & 7 to Six Flags Magic Mountain.
Metrolink train:
From Union Station Downtown Los Angeles, take the Metro Link train (Antelope Valley Line) to the Newhall Station. From there take either Santa Clarita Transit route 1 & 2 or 4 & 14 to the McBean Regional Transit Station (MRTC). Both lines service the Newhall Station every 15 minutes. From the MRTC, transfer onto a route 3 & 7 directly to Six Flags Magic Mountain.

does it mean there are 6 inderground stations? if so, then the "nos." is superfluous?
Answer: It is normal convention in specifications to include the words "Nos." after a quantity to make absolutely certain this is a quantity and not a reference number or a type number.
The British use No. where the Americans use #.

Im moving to Chicago.What would be the best locality to live in?Preferably close to DePaul/downtown/bars?
I dont want to live anywhere thats too far into suburbia. Preferably as close to downtown as possible. I saw this place near the Belmont EL stop (since Ive never been to Chicago, Im not really sure if each color has an el stop or if one el stop handles all color lines)?
1) Is Belmont a good area?
2) What area exactly is downtown Chicago?
3) What other areas would you suggest? Im planning on living on a student budget with roommates.

Answer: The DePaul area is fine.
The Belmont EL stop is NOT in Logan Square. It's in Lakeview and about 4 blocks from Wrigley Field.
The Loop is the center of the downtown area...It is "looped" by El trains. Downtown is larger. The term is rather vague because Chicago is very large and businesses and attractions extend in a large area. Roughly, downtown extends from the Chicago River south to Roosevelt Rd and from the Chicago River on the west to Lake Michigan. See CTA map below:

DePaul is served by the red, purple and brown lines at the Fullerton Ave stop. Scroll down to see:

The CTA has both buses and commuter trains, some are elevated, some are subways and some are surface routes. 3 travel between the lanes of expressways. Some are combinations of all! Confused? i was just wondering which subway line is less crowded and easier to travel from downtown manhattan to the last few stops in brooklyn?
Answer: I would say the 3 is less crowded than the 4. The 4 runs down Lexington Avenue, which is more crowded than 7th Avenue (where the 3 runs).

How do you get downtown in The Sims 3: Late Night?
I just bought the Sims 3: Late night and theres suppose to be a bridge, subway and new town or something along those lines. Its full downloaded and Im in game-play trying to go to the new place but when i go to the select destination, theres no bridge to the new city place. Help? 5 stars to the one with the right answer first.
Answer: It's not a Downtown area like in Sims 2, or like the vacation getaways in Sims 3: World Adventures. It's a whole new town by itself called Bridgeport. Yes, there's a bridge...between Bridgeport downtown and Bridgeport suburbia/gated community. So if you have Sims in a town you've been playing in prior to Late Night, the only option is to copy them into the Bin and put them into Bridgeport as a fresh household (though they will retain their current level skills and, maybe?, their jobs).
So to actually play the downtown area, you have to do New Game and choose Bridgeport. Another option is to customize your current town with various nightspots. The celebs, etc. should follow. I haven't tried yet, been playing Bridgeport only so far.

Where can I park my car for 3 days in Pittsburgh?
Im taking the megabus to New York from Pittsburgh and was wondering if there was a good neighborhood or just some good spots that someone knew to leave my car while I was gone (Fri-Mon). The only stipulation is maybe a good bus line to get downtown to pick megabus up at the convention center.
Answer: Try one of the side street next to Shady Ave in Shadyside (make sure you pick the one that doesn't need a permit). You can then take a bus from the nearby busway straight to downtown.
the downside is these streets are normally packed..... you will need some patients to find a spot.
An alternative is Thomas BLVD or streets near by there. But it will be bit far from bus lines.
