who liked Valkyrie?
Answer: I saw it today. It was worth watching and I thought it was well done. It's not a movie where you are waiting to be surprised by the outcome, because it's based on true historical facts. So if you're looking for a suspense/thriller you may be disappointed. It does have some suspense but I knew the ending when I walked in to see it. That wasn't the point of watching it.
I think it's good for people to read just a little bit about the true events that happened and you'll like the movie or at least it may make you think a little. It's amazing to think about how close they actually were to killing Hitler before the war ended. If they had succeeded it would have meant saving millions of lives.
As far as people commenting that there were no accents....well it's just like the movie "Hunt for Red October". Tom Cruise speaks German in the very beginning and it changes over to English. I was hoping that the actors didn't attempt to carry German accents through the whole film and they didn't.

Anyone with a Valkyrie trike or other trike without reverse?
I currently have a Vulcan 800 Drifter that I love. Ive been thinking about getting a trike too for more storage space on trips. How do you handle parking a trike without reverse on it? It seems like it would really limit your parking places and manueverability when parking. Im only 54 and worried I wouldnt be able to push it out of/in to situations. Of course Im dreaming about a Valkyrie trike. Thanks.
Answer: I ride with some that have a trike with no reverse. They just don't park in a place where it's uphill on the backout. They pull around and let gravity roll it back into the spot if possible.

Answer: I just saw it, and I loved it. I thought it was an *excellent* film. It was surprisingly suspenseful considering that everyone really knows how it ended. I would definitely recommend it. I think the critics were WAY too harsh on the film and on Tom Cruise. He was better in it than they give him credit for. Yes, his American accent is a bit distracting, (he definitely needs to work with a diction coach to soften his speech) but he wasn't as bad as they make him out to be, and the film itself was very good.

I am looking at a 1999 Honda Valkyrie and would like to know what to expect for life of the motor and what, if any major repairs may be coming up. The bike is well maintained and has 50,000 on it now. Thanks
Answer: A Valkyrie is a wonderful machine,.... I can find no reasonable justification for the stopping of production. With 50K on the clock, IF it has been well taken care of, the bike you describe is just now broke in. There's no reason it couldn't give another 100K of great service......

What were some of the major historical accuracies in the movie Valkyrie?
I have a History v. Hollywood project I have to do on the movie Valkyrie. If anyone could give a couple examples of some major historical accuracies in this movie, that would be great.
Answer: although it implies in the movie that they came closer to success than they did in real life, the facts are all there
Because the Gestapo investigated the bomb plot, the hollywood producers had a lot of access to this information, and so could make it quite realistic, despite some discrepancies which were necessary in order to make it an enjoyable film. They had a leading authority called Hoffman or something, who was an expert on the german resistance, who acted as a consultant.
So basically, it is quite accurate in this respect:
all of the characters in the movie were based on real life people
the failed bombing attempt by Branagh aboard hitler's private airplane actually happened in real life
Basically, because I can't be bothered to list everything, the entire plot is based on truth - the only inaccuracies come from stuff like Goerdeler was actually presented worse in the film than he was in reality etc.
I did this movie with a movie group I run - I made them watch the movie, compare it to other movies of the same genre, discuss the acting style and how well the cast fit the movie, and the historical accuracies, how well they created the atmosphere etc.

Answer: The Gestapo investigated the July 20 plot thoroughly, so filmmakers had access to much documentation as they integrated the historical account [121] with "Hollywood factors" in producing Valkyrie.[29] Peter Hoffmann, professor of history at McGill University and a leading authority on the German Resistance, was a consultant for the filmmakers. Hoffmann spoke of the film's accuracy, "[Valkyrie] gives a fundamentally accurate portrait of Stauffenberg and his co-conspirators. There are details which must be counted as liberties. But, fundamentally, the film is decent, respectful and represents the spirit of the conspiracy."[122] The Scotsman reported of the film's accuracy, "Valkyrie... sticks pretty closely to the story of the failed conspiracy to topple the Nazi regime... it implies that the plot came closer to success than it really did. But the basic facts are all present and correct."[123]
While von Stauffenberg listens to Richard Wagner's "Ride of the Valkyries" in the film, in reality the colonel hated Wagner. In addition, von Stauffenberg's elder brother Berthold was also omitted from the film.[124] Bryan Singer purposely left out some of von Stauffenberg's "macho" moments in writing the character, such as the colonel's refusal of morphine to avoid addiction. He explained the removals, "There were things I actually left out because I knew people would think we were making them up... imagine Tom Cruise saying 'No morphine!' People would think it's a contrivance."[125] In the film, von Haeften steps out in front of von Stauffenberg at the firing range, but when filmmakers attempted to reconstruct the scene based on eyewitness testimony and photographs, they discovered that the shots that killed von Haeften would also have killed von Stauffenberg, who was actually shot shortly after. Another alteration was to the portrayal of Carl Friedrich Goerdeler, played in the film by Kevin McNally. Goerdeler was written in the film to be antagonistic, dramatically representing the friction and conflict that existed within the conspiracy, though filmmakers considered him a "much more moral character" in reality.[13]
British novelist Justin Cartwright, who authored the book The Song Before It Is Sung about one of the plot's conspirators, wrote, "The film is true to most of the facts of the plot, but fails to convey any sense of the catastrophic moral and political vortex into which Germans were being drawn." Though not depicted in the film, von Stauffenberg was persuaded to become involved in the plot by his uncle, Nikolaus Graf von Üxküll-Gyllenband, who was disenchanted with the Nazis. The film also did not explore von Stauffenberg's philosophy and background, which Cartwright felt fit the German tradition of Dichter und Helden ("poets and heroes"). Cartwright described how von Stauffenberg was an appropriate leader for the plot: "He was the man who unmistakably wore the mantle of a near-mystic German past, a warrior Germany, a noble Germany, a poetic Germany, a Germany of myth and longing." The novelist felt that Cruise's portrayal was more akin to one as a "troublesome cop". Cartwright also noted that the film did not raise the question of what kind of Germany von Stauffenberg had in mind if the plot succeeded

What is the replay value of Valkyrie Chronicles for ps3?
I have read great reviews for Valkyrie Chronicles. I was wondering how long it takes to beat and if it is a game that can be replayed. Also if you could give your short views of the game, that would be great.

Answer: Well, I am tired, so I wont write that much now. But get the game! It is very good. It starts off slowly, so don't give up on it if it seems bad at first. I have not beaten it yet, but I feel that I am near the end. It has taken between 20-30 hours, including some optional missions. I would replay it no problem. There is a lot of leveling up and unlocking stuff. Good for replays. IF it gets trophies (hopes) then I will have to play it over and over again.
