Should i still buy and HP touchpad?
I can get a brand new HP touchpad for pretty cheap and I was wondering with the announcement they are discontinuing it should I still get it? Im not too worried about there being no more apps because thats what my ipod touch is for; I was looking for using it mainly for browsing the internet. Ive heard mixed reviews of it so im still not set but from what ive read I like. What are your thoughts?

Is the ASUS P50IJ-X2 Notebook good?
Im looking for a new laptop as my old one has a cracked screen that isnt worth fixing.
I want to buy it online, specifically here: http://www.newegg.ca/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16834220693
as its cheap and more than twice as good as my old one in terms of RAM and HDD space.
It seems to address most of the problems of my old HP laptop - heat, horrible for gaming - although the reviews do say this isnt a laptop for gaming, the better RAM says its okay, not sure about the video card.
Im wondering what gaming is defined as. I dont want to play Crysis or even MW2 on this laptop, things like Warcraft III, WarRock, Combat Arms, etc, should run without any problems though.
Ive never bought online so Id appreciate it if someone would read it through (Ive read it multiple times but need a fresh eye) and tell me if this is worth it. Id hate it if I bought it and then found out I could have got a better one for the same price. If anyone can help me out, Id really appreciate it.
Im looking for:
Good speed for browsing and in general
Support for most modern programs (its 64bit Windows 7, does this present a problem)
Good for light gaming, nothing heavy
Doesnt overheat
Generally good battery life
Doesnt matter about the touchpad, I have a wireless mouse
Overall durable and good notebook.
If anyone can suggest any other notebooks or verify that this one is a good choice, Id be happy to give you Best Answer, etc, etc.
Thanks!
Nick: The specs say Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit. Is this in error? The reviews also reference the Windows 7 64-bit, so I think it must come with it.
Thanks Jeff, I saw that article and its part of the reason I was attracted to the ASUS laptop. Im just wondering if this model is a good choice.
Frank: Thanks for the heads-up, if it cant handle HL2 then I dont see how it can handle any of the newer games. However Im unfamiliar with MSI and dont know how the computer you suggested fares since there are no user reviews on newegg for that notebook. Id hate to be the first one to get one of those and have to figure out the problems myself.
Ive also looked at this one:
http://www.amazon.ca/UL30Vt-X1-13-3-Inch-Laptop-Windows-Premium/dp/B002XZLURC/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&s=electronics&qid=1274908929&sr=1-1
What do you think? The reviews seem even better and it seems good but seems to push how much Im willing to pay (around 700 bucks)
Ben - Im looking at that one (although in black):
http://www.bestbuy.com/site/Gateway+-+Laptop+with+AMD+Athlon%26%23153%3B+II+Dual-Core+Processor+-+NightSky+Black/9732722.p?id=1218162980323&skuId=9732722
and most of the basic specs impress me for the price, but how does it hold up in terms of gaming? Support? Longevity?
Frank - thanks for the update, the one you suggested
http://www.newegg.ca/Product/ProductReview.aspx?Item=N82E16834220694
looks great, but Im worried that the battery life will die out quickly. Usually I only need it for 3-4 hours max, do you think this one can hold out for that long (not games or anything, just browsing for 3-4 hours)
Answer: this thing won't do it for gaming at all, not even half life 2 or WOW, intel integrated graphics are the worst.
this is the cheapest one that will play WOW or other games
http://www.newegg.ca/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16834152157
ok yeah I understand that, here is another ASUS one, this one will be able to handle some gaming
http://www.newegg.ca/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16834220694
2nd update:
yeah battery life will be shorter for any laptop with a dedicated graphics card, I would expect about 2 hours of use or more, if you are just web browsing there are way to improve battery life, like underclocking the graphics card with software like rivatuner. if you did that, and enabled all of he power saving features, 3 or 4 hours is possible.
another option is to get a desktop for gaming, and a cheap laptop for mobility.

hp pavilion dm3-1039wm touchpad problem?
I just bought this HP Pavilion laptop, every time it wakes up from sleep the touchpad doesnt seem to be actively responsive. It has that magnifying lens icon and sometimes the 2 arrows bent to form a circle with a dot on the middle. I have read the reviews online everyone seems to have same problem, but has anyone actually came up with a solution for this issue?
After 5 minutes its functionality is back to normal though. This is a new laptop I shouldnt wait 5 minutes for it to be fully functional..
Anybody that can help out there?

Which laptop should I pick: Hp tx2z vs. Mac?
Im looking into a laptop to buy soon and cant choose between these two.
First there is the Mac. Which most would say is the superior model. I would agree but Im just looking for other opinions.
Pros so far about the Mac:
-less viruses
-high quality
-little to no problems
-graphics are amazing
-doesnt break down
-easy to use
-overall is a great computer
Cons about Mac
-compatibility with some programs
-price
Then there is the Hp tx2z which I really like because of its touchpad capabilities
Pros about Hp
-touchscreen capabilities
-small and compact
-easy to use
-fun
-cool outer design
Cons(these are mostly hearsay from reviews)
-hazy screen
-breaks down
-gets hot
-loud
-touchscreen breaks down after a while
-many people have returned broken ones
Yes, the obvious choice would be a Mac, but the thing is Im not sure whether to believe all the errors people describe. They could be picky, not good with computers or maybe theirs were early models.
Here is what I need my new computer to be able to do. My desktop right now breaks down all the time and I would rather not have to go through all the procedures Ive had to do with it.
-graphic design(includes a lot of photoshopping)
-freelance writing/creative writing
-homework
-IMing
-facebook
-internet
Note: I like to run many programs at once and hate hate hate slow computers. I need speed, efficiency, accuracy, and a computer that will last. I have moderate to advanced level with dealing with computers but would just like some outside help.
Thanks so much :)
Also: I am not a gamer, can afford either laptop, use Microsoft Word, and am on youtube daily
Answer: The "obvious" choice is the HP, at least for me. Most of that stuff about Macs isn't true. Their graphics are no better than PCs. They're not higher quality than PC (they use the EXACT same hardware). They can break. And while it might be "easy to use", it's so restrictive on what you can do that it's overly frustrating.
My friend has an HP TX and it's very nice. the "hazy screen" is a slight artifact from it being a touch screen and having sensors built into it, but it still has good picture quality. Like any laptop, they can get hot and when the fans spin up they get noisy. since it is a tablet PC, I could see how the hinge might break, but overall it's pretty sturdy.

What do you think I could get for these laptops?
I want to trade 2 laptops I have, 1 is working and the other needs a hard drive. The working laptop is an HP ZE4600 and the other is a DV4000. The DV4000 is nicer. I wanted to get a hard drive for the 4000 but im thinking I really dont want to hassle with it and just try Craigslist for a trade. The 4600 isnt cutting it for me anymore with what I need my laptop for. I dont need a muscle machine but the 4600 is just too basic now and would be better for someone that just uses it for basic reasons and browsing. Im not looking to trade these for anything that costs $1,000 because I know these laptops together arent worth that much, maybe a decent used laptop that someone would sell for around $300. Im asking on here to see if anyone can give me some insight into what a good price range for trading would be and if its a good idea. No answers for netbooks please.
DV4000 Review - http://www.notebookreview.com/default.asp?newsID=2345
ZE4600 Review - http://www.laptopshowcase.co.uk/reviews.php?id=53
(Ram has been upgraded to 512)
Both are in pretty good shape on the outside, the 4000 having some minor scratches on the top and the 4600 has some wear on the touchpad and a little wear beside the touchpad from my hand/wrist. The main problems come from the 4600. The keyboard sticks a little, I have gotten used to typing on it but I have to push the keys little harder than usual. The PCI port does not work at all, it didnt when I bought the laptop used. The ethernet port went out a little while back, if I plug in ethernet it freezes up completely and wont unfreeze so you would need wireless for this laptop. I think the USB ports are loose, if you move the laptop around a lot what is plugged in will not be recognized and you have to jiggle it around. It has an external wireless adapter by Linksys that I paid $50 for that will be included with the laptop as long as the one I am trading for has wireless built in.
I think a big thing with the 4600 is it could use reformatting. I dont want to reformat it mainly because I dont have windows or the OS CD and I dont want to put anymore money in this laptop.
Answer: If they're not in good condition, your best bet is to part it out. I mean you can sell the laptops whole on ebay but I'm not sure if you want to spend a few dollars to list them. Your main problem is the 4600 one. If you have all those problems with it now, no one's going to want to buy it unless they really want a cheap laptop for parts. The other one, well, it's running right? I'm sure you can get more than $300 for both. It's just a matter of when you post them on craigslist or ebay for people to be interested.

I need help choosing a tablet to purchase?
With so many options out there in the market Im having a really tough time choosing. Ive been reading Engadget reviews religiously but Id like to hear from the user side of things. Right now my options are Galaxy Tab 10.1, Galaxy Tab 7", iPad 2, HP TouchPad, Motoralo Xoom, Blackberry Playbook, Dell Streak and HTC Flyer. If possible Id like to avoid iPad 2 unless solid reasons can be provided. Ive been in Apple shackles my whole life and a change would be nice. Let me know if theres another tablet out there better than the ones listed. Thanks for your help in advance.

Which computer should I buy? A Lenovo U460-087722U or a Macbook Pro?
Here are the specs and details of each as shown online:
Lenovo U460-087722U
- Intel® Core™ i5-450M Processor ( 2.40GHz 1066MHz 3MB )
- Genuine Windows 7 Home Premium 64
- NVIDIA GeForce 305M
- 4 GB PC3-8500 DDR3 SDRAM 1066MHz
- 14.0" HD LED Glare 1366x768
- Industry Standard Touchpad
- 500GB 5400 Hard Disk
- 8 Cell Lithium-Ion
- Intel Wireless Wi-Fi Link 1000
- Bluetooth Version 2.1 + EDR
- One year Warranty
- Fingerprint Reader
New MacBook Pro 13.3” (MC374LL/A)
- 2.4GHz Core 2 Duo
- 4GB DDR3 PC3-8500 (2x2GB)
- 250GB Hard Disk
- NVIDIA GeForce 320M
- SD Slot
- SuperDrive 8x DLBluetooth 2.1
- iSight
- FW 800
I can get the Lenovo for about $806 and the Macbook for $1049 although the Macbook will come with an 8gb iPod touch ($199 value) and an HP F4480 All-in-One Printer (~$60 value). Money really isnt an issue for me. If I sell the IPod and printer, itll be around the same price anyway. I just need a laptop that will last long and can handle all the media-related tasks I do ie. playing movies and some video editting.
I love both laptops, but I also hear mixed reviews for both. I like the Lenovos specs the best even though the Macs graphics card is of higher quality and I hear that Lenovos are pretty durable. On the other hand, I also heard that Macs are designed for entertainment, so despite its lower quality specs, such as its 2Core Duo vs. the Lenovos i5 processor, it should be more efficient than the Lenovo. Not being computer guru, I have no way to tell if these remarks are true. Can you guys please help me decide on which laptop to buy? Thanks!!!
I am a student, so I will be able to get the Mac deal that I mentioned above at my school.
