Forget Juan Williams. What About Yahoo Answers Censorship?

There seems to be an outpouring over Juan Williams being denied his right to free speech. Of course, he has been denied no such thing. He was completely free to make the comments he chose to make and he had a wide audience. His employer has merely determined that he voiced his opinion in contradiction to his job description as being a news analyst. NPR stated that, "Williams broke company rules for reporters by voicing opinions he would not voice as an NPR reporter. A critical distinction has been lost in this debate. NPR News analysts have a distinctive role and set of responsibilities. This is a very different role than that of a commentator or columnist. News analysts may not take personal public positions on controversial issues; doing so undermines their credibility as analysts, and thats what’s happened in this situation. As you all well know, we offer views of all kinds on your air every day, but those views are expressed by those we interview — not our reporters and analysts." So why is everyone so upset over Juan Williams right to free speech (which he freely exercised) but nobody is chastising Yahoo Answers over their constant censorship of the comments made by both leftists and right-wingers on this very forum every single day? The majority of the questions that I ask never even post.
Answer: Just as he wanted....He now is employed by the Ultra Right Wing nutjobs at Fox "News"...LOL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Are Black South Africans Racists?

I’ve for some time been bothered by what most of those opposed (herein referred to as analysts) to the ANC in this forum either explicitly say or imply. The ANC has been voted by majority, and that majority happens to come from the Black – especially African - population. According to these analysts, the ANC is a racist organisation. Its policies, according to them, are nothing but racism. It’s a fact that parties are elected based on their policies and past practices, and the ANC is no exception. Now, do these people infer that Africans are racists and are hell bent on making life unbearable for whites? What about those whites who serve in government policy structures, like cabinet ministers and Directors General? Are white people serving our police and armed forces there to protect a regime that is racist against them? Do our white judges and magistrates – and they make about 60% of our judiciary – promote racism? If the answer is that all these contributors to institutionalised persecution of white people are not aware that the ANC is a racist organisation and runs a racist government – what special qualities are needed so that they could comprehend the wisdom resident in these analysts?
Answer: This is a long answer, but please read it... Well asked, Zim$. A gentlemanly question deserves a gentlemanly answer. It's a pity there are so many overseas answerers speaking their mind here, but they have either never been here or just visited. Anyone who has worked in another country (as many white South Africans are forced to do to earn a living), will know that visiting a country and living there are 2 different things. No, of course not all blacks are racist. However, he ANC's policies are as undoubtedly racist towards white citizens (and I, and many of my friends have firsthand experience of its ugly face). Bear with me... Even so, one can not even label all those who vote ANC racist, just as one could not label all that voted for the old NP racist. These are ordinary people who want to ensure the best security for themselves and their families. Many vote (now and back then) out of ignorance, habit, social pressure, fear (of the 'devil' they don't know) and indecision. All the white government officials are not politicians working for the ANC or are there to gain some power and position - they are ordinary people who have to put food in their families' mouths every day. Many of them are frustrated by the ineffective way things are done, but per definition of the situation, they can not resign, coz they will not get a new job, coz they're white. What is the quickest way to make an enemy of a peaceloving ordinary guy? It is if you take the food out of his loved ones' mouths for something he cannot change or help. Against the financial odds (yes, contrary to popular belief, many white people are also poor) I did all I could to ensure getting a good job (you know the story - I've told you before), but I can not change my skin colour (and nobody has to) or heritage. There are (and I'm generalizing now) great ignorance among black citizens as to the suffering caused to white citizens due to the racist policy of AA. Just as there was ignorance among whites in the old days towards the suffering caused by apartheid. It was easier (I imagine) to just sit in one's cushy job instead of talking to a black South African and finding out the truth. It's easier to believe the lies and eufemisms of the political party that makes life easy for my ethnic group than to face the real, hard facts. So, I ask you the same question I asked last time, that you couldn't give me an answer to Zim$: What can we do? I want to add another question, though: What can you (as non-racist black fellow South Africans) do? Both you and I love our country. Why should any one of us leave her shores if we have the qualifications and the willingness to work hard? Crime and other problems in South Africa is real. Why alienate fellow countrymen and -women who want to help solve the problems? Can our battered country really afford the immoral luxury of, again, a political party who are indulging in the mistakes of our past?

And The Insults Keep Coming?

Last night I watched CNN, Forum with the Candidates. I was listening from another room when an Obama supporter/analyst stated Democrats will change their minds in November and vote for Obama. I was taken aback that the Obama campaign/supporters believe we will follow him like sheep. Well, I wont. I swore on the Bible I will never vote for Obama. To categorize Democrats as presumed followers radiated as another Obama assumption/insult that no matter what happened he would get the vote. Wrong. About a month ago on CNN(maybe someone can give me the interviewees name) I listened to statistics that voters in the mid-40s up didnt go back when they changed their political affliation. I may forever be Republican thanks to Obama, and thats ok with me. Will you change parties if Obama is elected? What did you think of the varying views of the candidates from last night? Do you agree with stats concerning never going back to your original party? DNC: Take Heed. I think its interesting that someone pointed out the possibility of my being called a racist. No, I havent been called that. And I hope I would not, that would only serve to prove how divisive Obama truly is. I will mention that I was, at one time, all for Obama and the possibilty of a Dream Ticket, too. Not now. Too much water under the Bridge. I can see clearly now. I would also like to mention that I am presently hoping and studying towards being a Constitutional/Civil Rights attorney... calling me a racist would make anyone look foolish. Thanks for you replies!
Answer: Well he's already said, he knows he can get the people who are voting for Hillary to vote for him in the general election, but doesn't think she can get his votes. So yeah, personally i think he's right, but i don't think Hillary has said that & if she did it would probably be considered a racist comment. He's taken advantage of his situation as being "african american" there's no doubt about that. He get's away with things that white candidates would not be able to get away with. Hell he's said a lot of dumb things. Remember that comment with Opra when he said, If Oprah asked all of the women in the country to kill their husbands, there'd be blood in the streets. Now that's power, he said. Of course even Oprah looked at him like he was a lunatic when he said that. Also expect to be called a racist if you do switch parties. If you haven't been called one already.

Did you see that a former KGB analyst has predicted that the USA will split into 5 separate republics.?

I just saw this story on CNN. He believes that this will happen by the summer of 2009. Did anyone else see this story? What do you think? What has me very concerned, not that I believe it will happen, but he puts Texas in with the southern states of the bible belt, from Texas all the way through Florida. Now that is scary for me. I can see this Republic of Texas, as they named it, become a theocracy. I prefer not to live in a theocracy. http://www.firesociety.com/forum/thread/31409/RUSSIA-PREDICT-END-OF-U.S.-in-2010--Split-by-China--Mexico--Canada--EAU--Japan-and-Russia-/
Answer: I am irritated that the story reads "Russia predicts end of the USA". No. Just a lone man thinks that. Hardly a whole nation. Most of us Russians call Igor Panarin "mad, crazy". The CIA and the KGB have been both saying for years how the others country will collapse. I have a feeling that both countries will be around for awhile yet. The people love their land and will keep it up.

Has Juan WIlliams crossed the proverbial line,as a political analyst?..?

Will Charles Krauthammer single handedly fend for Juan before he is deported by NPR to an undisclosed Islamic state, tried and summarily stoned to death for both crimes against Islam and indeed the entire global community? Even I,as a die-hard conservative,do not judge the horrible heartfelt statements of Mr. Williams... In light of this recent incident, I am obliged to confess my sin before both God and man as well..On this very forum(wait where am I).?...anyhow..Last night,in a state of duress and extreme exhaustion,I may have indicated an adverse emotion toward the taste, texture and smell of steamed brussell sprouts...Therefore,in light of current events,I wish to formally apologize to you(the community @ Yahoo Answers),family, friends near and far..and especially to NPR...It has come to my attention that the power of NPR intelligentsia,is far reaching...even into the very bowels of Yahoo Answers... "SIGH"...talk among yourselves and then please report my question...I have a reputation to uphold. WOW....New record...30 minutes, since posting and not a single violation notice...WHoo hoo!!... BTW...Im a bit of a smarty pants on occassion...so...please understand that I believe Juan Williams is due a formal apology...He did nothing wrong...Its absolutely ridiculous...(and Im a conservative) Hey,(((Ren)))...The apology offered by Schiller,to Mr. Williams, was in regard to an inadvertent comment directed toward his person...The apology I and great number (both the left and right),hope for,is in regard to micro anylization and censorship intimidation tactics,in the name of blatently ridiculous, political correctness Thumbs up,btw..Thanks for showing up...lol...what a response,eh?
Answer: I don't like Brussels sprouts either BB. But I do like NPR. They seem to me to be one of the most balanced news sources out there. I mean, they're getting accused of being left AND right, well, left and right. That's gotta tell you something. And he was offered an apology.. http://www.npr.org/blogs/thetwo-way/2010/10/21/130728202/npr-ceo-williams-views-of-muslims-should-stay-between-himself-and-his-psychiatrist But really, I can't blame NPR one bit for wanting to distance themselves from Faux Noise in any way possible..

Nov 24, 2008 ... CGR CEO provides gold drilling updates * Texas Industries expand cement plants * CHG CEO discusses electric and natural gas rate case.

Financial analyst says the US is the worlds new "banana republic" ---Is he right ? ?

"We have a treasury secretary in America - Hank Paulson. Im afraid hes gone insane. Hes become like the Colonel Kurtz of Treasury Secretaries. Hes gone native. Hes co-opted trillions of dollars of American taxpayers money and hes playing hedge fund like a rogue trader. We have got a rogue trader in the Treasury Secretarys office. Hes being aided and abetted by Ben Bernanke whos been discredited as the entire Federal Reserve Bank has been utterly discredited. Were looking at a possible inflationary depression in America and the worse is yet to come, much worse is yet to come." "To pay for all this insanity from Hank Paulson, they have two options. They can either raise taxes or they can inflate the money supply. They can destroy these things US dollars . Dollars 30 years ago used to be backed by this stuff - gold . Now thanks to Hank Paulson and Ben Bernanke US dollars are backed by these - bananas . Theyre absolutely worthless. Anyone buying US dollars today is going to lose money." "For the average American, this is what they will experience. The price of food and oil are going to skyrocket due to hyperinflation. The only way they can possibly pay for all these bailouts is to inflate the money supply. This means hyperinflation in America like you had in Germany in the 1920s. This is what the average American will experience: destitution, poverty, social unrest due to flagrant bank mismanagement - and it could have been avoided. But unfortunately the banks in the USA are run by greedy, insane private marketeers and this is the result." "Its not really a doomsday scenario for the rest of the world. Take Iran for example, youve got a lot of oil and gas. Those prices are going to go up. China has huge savings. The Indian people have huge gold reserves. For the rest of the world this is actually a fantastic thing. Only the US and Britain are going to experience this horrible disconnection with the rest of the world economy. So its a doomsday for them but theres a certain symmetry here. They spent 20 or 30 years with this neoliberal model hoisting trillions of dollars of debt onto themselves and now its gone belly up. http://progressiveindependent.com/dc/dcboard.php?az=show_mesg&forum=104&topic_id=86698&mesg_id=86698 more from Max http://www.maxkeiser.com/ Max Keisers professional profile http://www.linkedin.com/pub/1/849/a42 Max the talented international trouble maker (plus other quotes) http://www.linkedin.com/pub/1/849/a42 Former Treasury Secretary Paul Roberts under Regan Excepts from his blog The dependency of Treasury Secretary Paulson’s bailout scheme on foreign willingness to absorb more Treasury paper in order that the Treasury has the money to bail out the troubled institutions is heavy proof that the US is in a financially dependent position that is inconsistent with that of America’s “superpower” status. Currently, the fight between the administration and Congress over the bailout is whether the bailout will include the Democrats’ poor constituencies as well as the Republicans’ rich ones. The Republicans, for the most part, and their media shills are doing their best to exclude the ordinary American from the rescue plan. A less appreciated feature of Paulson’s bailout plan is his demand for freedom from accountability. Congress balked at Paulson’s demand that the executive branch’s conduct of the bailout be non-reviewable by Congress or the courts: “Decisions by the Secretary pursuant to the authority of this Act are non-reviewable and committed to agency discretion.” However, Congress substituted for its own authority a “board” that possibly will consist of the bailed-out parties, by which I mean Republican and Democratic constituencies. The control over the financial system that the bailout would give to the executive branch would mean, in effect, state capitalism or fascism. If we add state capitalism to the Bush administration’s success in eroding both the US Constitution and the power of Congress, we may be witnessing the final death of accountable constitutional government. http://www.vdare.com/roberts/080923_deregulation.htm
Answer: Absolutely. The only positive outcome regarding this is that we may get our manufacturing economy back.

Vikings fans can we all agree that Childress should be removed from playcalling?

Im a huge Vikings fan and I noticed this even before Favre came to the Vikes last year, so Im not at all surprised that Favre has beef with Childress. He is just way too predictable. The defense knows whats coming everytime. I saw this comment in another forum: You guys should be interested in this - not surprised, but interested (its nice to get a viewpoint from outside the home teams venue - refreshingly objective): I was listening to a radio show on 107.5 here in central Wisconsin hosted by Chris Havel, Harry Sydney (super bowl winner with the 49ers - full back who blocked for Roger Craig, played with Montana, Young and Rice and was running backs coach for the Pack during the 90s) with special guest Sean Jones (super bowl winner with Pack in 96, played with Reggie White, Gilbert Brown, Santana Dotson - team led by Favre, of course. Also was an Oiler with Warren Moon and Ernest Givens, before. Very articulate, sharp analyst today). Sorry for all that wind, but many Vikings fans are young and wouldnt *get* the connection otherwise: They watched the game and concluded the play-calling was utterly confusing - made no sense at all, and explains (they said) why Favre has such a problem with Childress. "Runs in bunches, then passes in bunches (no mixture at all)- 7 passes in a row on the final drive, like panic time. They established the run with Adrian early, then dont even try a single play action? They have an offensive coordinator up there, but its like the plays were called by someone who knows nothing about professional football - what the heck is going on with that team?" These guys are pretty fair minded, non partisan analysts - not the usual Packer loyal, other team hater types. They gave the Vikes a lot of credit for excellent defense and decent pass protection, but like most Vikings fans (except for partisan Childress-worshipers), they couldnt figure out the play calling at all. They concluded by saying theyve "never seen a head coach with so much do so little", and that even at the superdome - even with the crowd and home field, "with a little creative play-calling, the Vikings could have won that game." Gotta feel for Favre - anyone whos ever worked for a shortsighted or otherwise incapable boss knows the feeling... You see the problem persist day after day, but are powerless to change it. http://www.twincities.com/sports/ci_16042370?source=rss Suddenly Im not so sure this team can get any farther in the playoffs with Childress running the show. So Vikings fans what are your thoughts on Childress?
Answer: I didn't mind the lengthy question and hope you don't mind the lengthy answer. I agree the one thing that seems to be constantly holding them back is the Vikings’ play calling. It isn't Peterson fumbling and it isn't Favre throwing interceptions. The playcalling killed them in the Carolina and Chicago games last year and caused them to lose to inferior teams therefore they missed homefield advantage in the playoffs. Something that would have in my mind (considering they beat the crap out of them anyway) guaranteed that they would have beaten the Saints. It is also the direct reason for the loss to the Saints to open the season. The thing I want to point out is that it is offensive coordinator Darrell Bevell who handled much of that assignment. Brad Childress called the majority, if not all, the plays in his first season as coach in 2006. We all know plenty of head coaches with offensive backgrounds have called plays and the trend is now for head coaches with defensive backgrounds to also take on the task for that side of the ball, etc...but the Vikings to my knowledge don't do it that way anymore. After 06 Bevell got much more involved in the play calling, working from the press box, and he called plays from the sideline for the first time in 08 (I think). I guess I am just trying to say that Bevell must be a dummy too. If it is Childress or if it is Bevell I guess really doesn't matter. If it is Childress then he needs to pull his head out and if it is Bevell then Childress should overrule the stupidity. Bottom line is Childress is ultimately to blame. He still has a play chart and he certainly does have final say — his headset allows communications with both the offense and defense. My thoughts on Childress go like this. Little man - big ego. I think he will follow his ego right to his demise. I always get the argument that Childress has improved the team by 2 wins each year. I have even been so foolish as to say it myself. It seems hard to argue against except I wonder if a superior coach like Cowher or Shanahan could have improved them by 3 or more...Their offense just has no creativity at times. It is sad to waste all that talent. The phrase "never seen a head coach with so much do so little" is dead on accurate. The only head coach that even comes close to meeting that also is Wade Phillips. I don't know why it is so hard for them to see it because it is usually the main reason for a loss. Also I wonder personnel wise what the heck is he doing. What more could Darius Reynaud, Sage Rosenfels, and Javon Walker have done to make the team? Are any of them stars - probably not, but those who have their roster spots are not as good as they are so what does that say? It is hard to be a confident fan of the Vikings when any given day Childress will call a decent game or a horrendous one that has you losing to far inferior talent wise teams. It has to suck to be Adrian Peterson who has to sit there and be questioned if he is the best back or not simply because his coach underutilizes him. He should have been last year and should be this year a 2000 yard back. Did you see him in the Saints game walking around on the sidelines saying "feed me the ball... feed me the ball" and yet what 5 carries in the second half? Ridiculous....Had they "fed him the ball" they win that game because even if he was getting stuffed (which would not have happened anyway) he at least opens up the passing game to having a chance and at least keeps the defense off the field longer. Perhaps then the Williams' wouldn't have been so dog tired and could have held the Saints when they were trying to run. It is sad that armchair quarterbacks like you and I can see this as can the guys you talked about on the radio but they cannot see it themselves...appalling.

I just got a job as a software analyst programmer...How do i continuously improve on my tech stuff?

I mean, can anyone give me some goooood technical forums , and about the latest tech trends etc..etc.. I hope you guys know what i mean
Answer: I constantly scour the web - there's new stuff every day. I also take all the courses the company will pay for - I'm doing 2 weeks at Learning Tree starting Tuesday. (Get yourself a few gigs of flash drive - I use a couple of SD card adapters, and a pocket-full of SD cards - to save all the snippets that look as if they might be useful in your particular line of programming. And print out all the helpful tutorials that you might lose the link to.) As far as which sites - Jupiter media has a few, for different languages, but which sites are best depends on what kind of programming you're doing and what language(s) you're using. Remember - Google is free.

In the world of technology, how life-altering will this be?

Intel Cuts Electric Cords With Wireless Power System SAN FRANCISCO (AFP) - Intel on Thursday showed off a wireless electric power system that analysts say could revolutionize modern life by freeing devices from transformers and wall outlets. Intel chief technology officer Justin Rattner demonstrated a Wireless Energy Resonant Link as he spoke at the California firms annual developers forum in San Francisco. Electricity was sent wirelessly to a lamp on stage, lighting a 60 watt bulb that uses more power than a typical laptop computer. Most importantly, the electricity was transmitted without zapping anything or anyone that got between the sending and receiving units. "The trick with wireless power is not can you do it; its can you do it safely and efficiently," Intel researcher Josh Smith said in an online video explaining the breakthrough. "It turns out the human body is not affected by magnetic fields; it is affected by elective fields. So what we are doing is transmitting energy using the magnetic field not the electric field." Examples of potential applications include airports, offices or other buildings that could be rigged to supply power to laptops, mobile telephones or other devices toted into them. The technology could also be built into plugged in computer components, such as monitors, to enable them to broadcast power to devices left on desks or carried into rooms, according to Smith. "Initially it eliminates chargers and eventually it eliminates batteries all together," analyst Rob Enderle of Enderle Group said of Intels wireless power system. "That is potentially a world changing event. This is the closest weve had to something being commercially available in this class." Previous wireless power systems consisted basically of firing lightning bolts from sending to receiving units. Smith says Intels wireless power system is still in an early stage of development and much research remains before it can be brought to market. Rattner spoke of technological transformations he expects by the year 2050. "Youd like to cut the last cord," Smith said. "Its great that we have wireless email and wireless internet and stuff like that but at the end of the day it would be nice to have wireless recharge as well." http://news.yahoo.com/s/afp/20080821/ts_alt_afp/usitinternetenergychipcompanyintel;_ylt=AvD1efTh2WrPq.SBJmTjksMDW7oF

Established forum dedicated to banking?

I am a recent finance grad. I have applied for several positions within different financial organizations. I am flying out to San Francisco next week for an interview for an analyst position and I am trying to do research on the bank. Instead of spending 36 hours reading through wiki pages and old news posts, I want to find a place where I can get some kind of interaction with people in the business. I have found a couple of forums dedicated to banking, but traffic is low, so there is not much exposure. Any suggestions? Thanks
Answer: Good question. The closest thing I can think of to what you're describing would be Vault.com. They have some forums where employees speak candidly about the companies they work for. There are some geared toward investment banking. Not sure if you've already checked them out, but that would be one place to look.

Where to start for Investment Banking hopefuls?

I am a college junior with a summers experience in investment management of renewable energy companies. Where should I look to gain knowlege in career advice for investment bank analyst? A specific reference to website, forum or books would be appreciated.
Answer: The Valut.com career IB guide is a great resource for anybody interested in investment banking. I would also suggest you attend information sessions hosted by all of the banking firms at your college or university. The campus recruiting process is fairly rigid and you must adhere to the process very carefully. Many firms will not consider applicants who did not attend their on-campus information sessions. For companies that participate with your school's career office, look there first for investment banking career opportunities. Be sure to also submit applications to firms that don't recruit at your university. This can be a numbers game, so the more applications you submit, the better your chances of landing a job. A high GPA is very important to investment bankers, so be sure to keep on top of that. One of the classic books on an interview prep reading list is called Liar's Poker.
