Why people are praying for little kids to not get cancer, this guy is praying for a blank on the turn.
I personally think he is a disgrace to poker players and Christians.
Answer: We all pray for different things at different points in our lives. One person might be praying for the blank because they wish to donate the winnings to cancer research or to a church of their choice, would that be a disgrace? I have seen many players praying to win and see no fault in doing so.
Yang will neither help nor hurt poker.

Answer: I think he probably did not look at the best interests of the shareholders. It is possible that Yahoo! stock will go to $37 in the next year or so, but I don't expect to see it there for five years, if at all. By then, Yahoo! will probably have been sold for less than what Microsoft offered.
I do not love or support Microsoft, but I think this was a bad business decision by Yahoo!.

How to become a genius like Bill Gate or Jerry yang of Yahoo? What step should we take to become a genius like Bill Gate or Jerry yang? Is it long step? What major to take or what books to read or what subject to take?
Answer: First of all, the ability to formulate a clear thought is no different than the ability to express thought clearly. These things are not just reflections of one another. They are, in fact, one and the same.
Clarity of thought *IS* a linguistic phenomenon, therefore the study and mastery of language and of communication is central to the task of harnessing the mind.
What *IS* intelligence? What *IS* "genius", really? I've heard these terms thrown around so haphazardly that I don't even understand them anymore. The ability to reason clearly? The ability to reason rapidly? The ability to uptake and store tremendous amounts of information with seemingly little effort? The ability to look at the same old thing that everyone else has seen a thousand times and find a fresh new take on it that nobody else has ever seen?
Sure, that's all good stuff. It sounds great, but what does it MEAN? None of this can be satisfactorily quantified. The best one can do is rehash the same old definition of pornography, reformulated to refer to "genius" instead:
"I know it when I see it."
Genius isn't a hair color or a skin tone. It's not something that people walk around cloaked in. It's a fleeting phenomenon that strikes people who are ready to harness it when they experience it.
Genius lies in the elegance and simplicity that a human creation of unusual excellence can have. The act of it's creation is where genius is expressed, and then it's gone.
Genius is the quality that makes scientific discoveries into works of art. It makes works of art into timeless truths. It makes music speak and words sing. In that fleeting moment in which the one creating finds this within themselves, they are "genius". Then it's gone.
Is Bill Gates a genius?... is Jerry yang? I don't know these men to say so, one way or the other, and I don't think I'm qualified to judge their bodies of work even if I did. However, I feel safe to say that empire building doesn't seem to REQUIRE genius as a prerequisite. It certainly does require some hard work, some tough decisions and the willingness to take some financial risks. It probably also requires a measure of luck.
If these men have produced work under strokes of genius, then I'm not aware of it. The elegance and subtlety has been utterly lost on me. Perhaps one of the commonalities among works of genius throughout history is that they are underappreciated. This is sad, but probably very true.
To follow in the footsteps of genius is to walk the hallways of humanity's greatest monument. This is the true museum of the mind. Just to touch upon, and fleetingly understand a work of genius is a dizzying experience. It's exhausting. Then it's gone.
This is my suggestion to you. Don't be fooled by the house of cards built by a magician. It's a wonderful trick, but it's all for show.
Follow genius. It goes everywhere.
Read... everything.
Absorb... everything.
Appreciate... everything.
None of it is useless.

Answer: I don't think they are particularly affecting the game of poker.
I think that Jamie Gold is a guy who has lived in LA for too long. He is fake and I don't believe a word that comes out of his mouth, on or off the table. He will say whatever he feels he needs to in any given situation to get what he needs. I'm sure he is a reasonable poker player, but as a person I just don't like him.
Jerry yang is certainly a good poker player. But I found his religious nonsense at the WSOP to be offensive. He kept praying to God to give him good cards, and so did his crazy Bible thumping family. Now he of all people should understand the hardship that goes on around the world, given that he is from a third world country. He should understand that there are parts of the world where people are dying of starvation and disease that is treatable. Yet he was praying for the board not to pair. In the great scheme of things praying over a poker game to make money, even if you intend to use that money for good, does seem like a shallow gesture and one that goes against Christian doctrine.
So time will tell what kind of man Yang is, but so far my impression is that he is just as arrogant and self centered as Gold, but wraps his ego and selfishness in a fake facade of religion.

Im a bit confused. Why is Yahoo getting rid of Jerry Yang?
Although I support this decision because I dont like Yang. Yahoo sending him packing is a little confusing to me because the board of directors has supported just about every move he has made. Answer: Jerry yang is one of those power tripper CEO's who screwed his stock holders out of a 33.00/share sale to Micro-Soft because he 'thought' it was worth more than it is actually worth. Today it is trading at 11.00/share. He got crazy with Microsoft and got his ass handed to him. They didn't need Yahoo!...they simply wanted to diminish the competition through absorption.
See...Jerry yang doesn't have to care about money because he has more money than 10 generations of crack addicts could spend. He forgot his duty to protect the interests of the stock-holders...who, by he way, made him wealthy. If I were a stock-holder, I would consider suing him personally for gross negligence.

Jerry Yang WSOP Poker Champion get to keep all of his winnings?
Does he get to keep all the cash or does some go to taxes?
Answer: It's one of those completely unfair government scams. Let's face it, 6000 or so people each put up about $10,000. The casino takes a small portion to pay for their time, space and staff. The rest of that money is put into a big pile, the lions share going to the winner, in this case Wang.
So he wins this money that all the poker players put into the kitty, and now the government wants 35%. Hardly seems fair really.
After all, I give my friend $100, should the government get to steal $35 of that?
So whatever his prize was (I forget the exact amount now) I'd say the government took about a third of it.

Yahoo implemented a lot of new ideas in the last 18 months since Jerry yang was in charge, but not enough to bring the company out of the recession.
