How long does it take to drive from The Macau Peninsula to the Cotai Strip? And how bad is the traffic?
Macau is about 26.8 square km which is like the half the size of my puny home town, but Im wondering how much traffic slows things down.
Any experience with Macau?
Answer: 15 to 30 minutes....
Traffic is only bad in some center of Macau Peninsula. Most of roads around the sea and Taipi are new roads, they are wider. Traffic is not serious. The "inside" part of Macau Peninsula has some traffic, but the city is so small that you don't feel too much delay anyway. (5 mins delated to 10 mins... not too bad).
I can walk from any point to point in Macau Peninsula within 30 minutes, taking bus may take 1 hour for some case that I can walk for 20 mins (Macau bus love to make circle.)
The bridge between Macau and Taipi is about 2km usually not that many traffic on bridge. 15 minutes on taxi should be able to enough for you to anywhere in Macau and Taipi including the Cotai Strip, adding 15 minutes in case you want to go some serious traffic time and area.
wel.... 15 minutes may NOT be enough for you to fight for an empty taxi with some other axxholes in some area of Macau or waiting in line on a taxi station.

How do I get from Macau Taipa Ferry Terminal to Ocean Park Hongkong?
In February, I plan to stay at the Venetian Macau. There is a Cotai Jet from Macau that ends in Taipa Terminal. From there I have no idea how to get to ocean park Hongkong. Please let me know how much it would cost me if I take 1) bus, 2) cab, 3) other, oh and how long will the travel take as well. Thanks!!!!
Answer: The ferry ride will take about 1 hour and the faster way to get to Ocean Park from the terminal is a taxi and it would cost about 90 HK. If you take a bus, you can take a bus to Pacific Place in Admiralty, walk across the fly over and take a bus from Admiralty center to Ocean Park

How many times can Americans reenter Macau China from the original 30 day visa?
My husband works in Macau and I am joining him on a family visa. Currently I am here on a visitor visa for 30 days. After 30 days, I went to mainland China and got another 20 days extension on my visa. How many times can I do this? It will take at least 20 more days after the expiration of my current 20 days for my family stay visa to be effective.
I would ask under the international area but I cant read Chinese!
Answer: http://www.gov.mo is the official website of Macau Government. There are phone number to the immigration. You can ask them with English. I think they are the only one who can answer your question for sure.
If you plan to stay for long term, you may be better to apply for another form of VISA.

What is the best way to secure Macau employment?
Hi! My cousin, who lives in Philippines, would like to apply in Macau as valet parking attendant, security guard, driver or other jobs related to hotel industry. What is the best way to apply? Online? He is planning to visit Macau too. Pls advise if Walk-in application is accepted. Also, do you have idea on the salary range for these jobs? Thanks a lot!
Answer: A good way is to prepare a brief, concise one-page resume and mail it together with a cover letter to every major hotel in Macao prior to going there. The cover letter should state that you will be visiting the area and are interested in acquiring a position as valet parking attendant, security guard, driver or other job with a hotel. State the planned time of your visit and indicate you would appreciate an interview. You should get more than one response. The resume and the letter have to be perfect. No errors at all. Have them reviewed carefully be several people before sending.
Before doing this find out if moving to Macao is feasible, i.e. can it be done legally, visa requirements, work permits, etc. Indicate in the letter that you can meet the requirements.

How long is travel duration from Macau to Hong Kong?
Where should I stop at Hong Kong Jetty Terminal I heard there are two terminals.
How much is the cost? Which ferry are cheap?
Answer: There're 3 ferries that goes to Macau from HK or vice versa, one located in the HK Int'l Airport which is the closet to Macau. A 2nd and the most popular one is located in Central (close to Sheung Wan MTR, subway) which takes around 50 minutes to get to Macau. The 3rd one which takes 5 more minutes than the Central Ferry is located in TsimShaTsui. The price of the tickets are almost the same, ie around $140 on weekdays and around $150 on weekends. Frequency is 20-30 minutes duing peak hours and 1-2 hour during off peak.

How do I arrive in Macau and stay there and also stay in Hong Kong?
I want to fly into Macau and stay 2 bights and then take ferry to Hong Kong and stay 2 nigths and then return to Macau to finish my visit. So will I have any problems?
Answer: Nope there will be no problems to this, the only thing I can think of is that Macau airport is tiny and there are limited flights into Macau compared to HK Intl airport about an hour over the water by ferry.
You might want to check prices of flights to both cities and maybe do your trip backwards, i.e. fly into HK stay 2 nights then ferry over to Macau via hydrofoil and then return later.
Both are civilised countries, i.e. you'll get stamped in visa on entry if you come from any of the major western countries as well as many others,
The list is here
http://www.immd.gov.hk/ehtml/hkvisas_4.htm
You'll get Macau in, Macau out, HK in, HK out Macau in and Macau out stamps. Hell Macau/HK is considered domestic travel mostly anyway...
Money
HK$ is accepted in Macau, 1:1 (almost)
Macau MOP is not accepted in HK though, so you may want to stick to one currency.
RMB is accepted in Macau even small snack stores (they display 3 prices)
RMB is accepted at bigger chain stores in HK.
On the ferry tickets, on the Macau side you don't really need to buy them in advance, the dead early and later tickets often have touts who will sell them to you for 15% of the face price should be $110-$150HKD per leg, touts can get you tickets for $20-$50.

How do I get from Guangzhou to Macau via train?
Please let me know which station in Guangzhou I can take to get to Macau on a train. I will be moving near the Tianhe Sports Center this July.
Answer: Guangzhou–Zhuhai Intercity Mass Rapid Transit, Guangzhou-Zhuhai Intercity MRT or Guangzhu MRT (simplified Chinese: 广州珠海城际快速轨道) is a dedicated, grade-separated passenger railway linking New Guangzhou Station in Panyu, Guangzhou, and Zhuhai Airport in Zhuhai, via Shunde, Zhongshan and Jiangmen, in Guangdong, China.[1]
The railway has partly started operations in January 2011. It will be divided into three parts with a total of 27 stations. Its main line between Guangzhou and Zhuhai City, via Shunde and Zhongshan, is 117 km (73 mi) long, with 17 stations and a maximum speed of 200 km/h (124 mph). Its extension line between Zhuhai City and Zhuhai Airport is 35.3 km (22 mi) long, with 7 stations and a maximum speed of 160 km/h (99 mph). Its spur line between Zhongshan and Jiangmen is 26 km (16 mi) long, with 6 stations and a maximum speed of 200 km/h (124 mph).[2][3]
When fully completed, passengers traveling on the main line between Zhuhai and Guangzhou South will have a choice between a 46-minute non-stop and a 76-minute, 140 km/h all-stop service. The non-stop service is offered between Zhuhai and Guangzhou South only, and travel between Zhuhai (Gongbei) and Zhuhai Airport will be cut down to 25 minutes.[4] It currently takes 50 minutes to travel by auto from Gongbei, Zhuhai to Zhuhai Airport, and 1 hour 30 minutes from Gongbei, Zhuhai to Panyu, Guangzhou.
The construction of the railway began in 2005[5] and it was to be completed by 2010 to cope with the opening of the Guangzhou Asian Games, but missed this deadline.[6]
The Gongbei Port (Chinese: 拱北口岸; pinyin: Gǒngběi Kǒuàn) is an immigration and customs checkpoint of and within the People's Republic of China, located in Zhuhai, Guangdong Province, on its border with the Macao Special Administrative Region of the People's Republic of China. It is operated by the Bureau of Exit and Entry Administration of the Ministry of Public Security, and the General Administration of Customs.
It is located in the Gongbei neighbourhood (jiedao) in the southeastern part of Zhuhai, and is one of two ports of entry on land between the mainland and Macau (the other being the Lotus Bridge, connecting Cotai, Macau, with Hengqin, Zhuhai).
Immigration and customs for travellers exiting mainland China are to the east, while immigration and customs for those entering mainland China are to the west.
There is a large underground shopping mall under the plaza north of the port-of-entry building.
The counterpart in Macau, through which travellers must pass before or after Gongbei is the Border Gate (Portas do Cerco), operated by the Serviço de Migração of the Corpo de Polícia de Segurança Pública, and the Serviços de Alfândega.

1 day trip to Hong Kong from Macau. What is worth visiting and near to HK Ferry Terminal?
We (4 adults and 2 kids) will be staying at Macau but planning to visit HK for 1 day (take ferry to HK early morning, returning same night). This will be my first trip to HK. Does anyone have any suggestions on what we should visit or eat? Maybe not too far off from the ferry terminal since well have to catch the night ferry back. I know 1 day trip a rather short so appreciate any advices. Thank you.
Answer: Yes, like the above answerer had said, its just above the Sheung Wan MTR Station and its the terminal stn for Island line. For eat, there are many HK style coffee shop that sells delicious Cantonese food in local fare for approx between HK$22-45 & above. Lots of food to try and its all around Sheung Wan near the Mid-levels, which is within walking distance and the Central Market is nearby for delicious food such as Wonton Noodles and Char Siew Rice etc, for reasonable pricing. As for visits, the Peak is a good choice via a taxi ride for approx 10-15 min and approx HK$30-40. U can also take the MTR to Central and take 15C nearby at City Hall after exiting from exit J1 and alight at Lower Garden Rd Terminus for the peak tram. MTR: 1 stn, HK$4, 2 min. 15C: HK$4.7, approx 10 min. Tram: HK$22 single, HK$30 round-trip, 10 min. You can also head to Tsim Sha Tsui via MTR via Central and visit the Art Museum, Space Museum, Kowloon Park, HK Discovery Centre etc for a family fun trip with nature and culture in all in 1 day. 3 stn, HK$9, max 10 min. Or you can head to HK Park, HK Zoo and Botanical Garden and the surrounding Area near the Lower Garden Rd Tram Terminus before you head to the Tram ride up to the Peak. There are many other choices and hope you and your family have fun then. (Take note that the above pricing is per person and child enjoy half price for transport ride only if with valid proof).
