Would you ever go to see a Star Trek Opera in Klingon?
LOL what next?
Klingon opera makes interstellar debut

No, your screen is not broken - that, for the uninitiated, is how one says "Today is a good day for opera" in Klingon.
The invented language, spoken first by the fictional aliens of the Star Trek universe and later embraced by humans worldwide, is now being put to use in an opera making its debut on Friday in the Dutch city of The Hague.
Opera is a cornerstone of the Klingon culture that is a major part of the Star Trek canon, which led to the creation of the show "U" (which means universe or universal).
"The Klingon are known as passionate opera lovers but at the same time very little was known about Klingon opera here so as far as I was concerned that was a very interesting challenge to try and make an authentic, or as authentic something out of that as possible," creator Floris Schonfeld told Reuters Television.
The 90-minute show tells the story of Kahless the Unforgettable, said to be the first Klingon emperor. Tickets for the shows three-day run at the Zeebelt Theatre, which has just under 100 seats, were still available as of Friday morning.
Audiences at Thursday nights preview show were impressed.
"It was really well interpreted, the music was really good, and the performance of the actors were fantastic," Dutch Klingon Erwin Slegers said.
The "real" Klingon people have also been invited to see the show, via a message sent through a radio telescope in April to their home star, Arcturus.
As it will take the message 36 years to reach them, however, they are not expected to make Fridays debut or performances later this month in Frankfurt.

LOL Adam Stewart.
Kira: I have no idea :P
Answer: yes i probably would go... sounds like something different and it could be good! a good friend of mine knows a bit of Klingon... i'd have to drag him along to interpret ha ha. i've never seen any kind of opera, something i have been meaning to do for years... people tell me it's not necessarily understanding the words... but understanding the passion/emotion being conveyed... so yeah, i'd be game :) Category: Polls & Surveys
Jun 21, 2011 ... The second-known emperor penguin to visit New Zealand shores has turned up on the Kapiti Coast.
Anyone want to eat some maggots? I wonder how to grow and cook them?
LONDON - You could call it the campaign for real grub.
Scientists want us to eat insects - for the sake of our health and that of the planet.
They say that scoffing spiders and gobbling grasshoppers n or entomophagy, to use its proper name - provides essential nutrients, keeps down pests and puts much less strain on the planet than eating conventional meat.
Researchers from Ohio State University have described insects as "micro-livestock", while the UN Food and Agriculture Organisation (FAO) earlier this year held a special conference on their benefits.
"Insects are the most valuable, underused and delicious animals in the world," says David George Gordon, a Seattle-based naturalist and author.
The West "is one the few cultures" that doesnt eat them, he adds.
"Maybe we are the weirdos."
Scientists at the National Autonomous University of Mexico have catalogued 1,700 different species and found that bugs are bolted down in at least 113 countries worldwide.
A plate of maguey worms - larvae of a giant butterfly - sell for NZ$31.50 in smart Mexican restaurants.
Sago grubs wrapped in banana leaves are a delicacy in Papua New Guinea.
Large leafcutter ants are popular in Colombia.
And wasps with rice was a favourite dish of Japans Emperor Hirohito.
When pesticides failed to control locusts in Thailand, the government urged its people to eat them, and distributed recipes.
The plague stopped.
Now villagers plant corn specifically to attract them, so that they can be caught and sold.
Cultivating insects requires preserving forests, not felling them for agricultural use, experts point out, adding that it is perverse to use pesticides to kill insects that are more nutritious than the crops they prey on.
Studies have shown that insects are full of protein and essential nutrients n and contain much less cholesterol, and much more unsaturated fat, than other kinds of meat.
Entomophagys proponents acknowledge that Westerners will take some persuading to ingest insects n especially if, as the FAOs Patrick Durst puts it, "they have to look the bug in the eye".
But they point out the oceans equivalents n crab, shrimp and lobster n are luxuries, even though these creatures are scavengers.
By contrast, Professor Gene DeFoliart of the University of Wisconsin-Madison, insists the most-consumed insects are normally vegans, "clean-living in their choice of food and habitat".
Diners, it appears, should complain if they do not find a fly in their soup.
I know the French cover them in chocolate! I guess anything is good in butter or chocolate!
There is a cafe in California that specializes in insects, it is a real hit with many people, I will try anything once, but I am sure our ancestors ate insects, I figure if you can stick to a normal ecology that is always best, and pesticides are causing cancer!
Answer: I think your own with you campaign however it does sound good in theory!

anyone get any scratch tickets in the mail?
My partner received a pamphlet and 2 scratch tickets in the mail the other day from a company called Emperor Holidays. One of the tickets said he had won 2nd prize of $150000USD. I checked out their website which looks legit. I emailed them to call my partner as we cant phone internationally as their are situated in Malaysia. A customer support person called "Louis" called and asked my partner to email his name, gender and the ticket number and barcode number to him.
He later called and said it is a winning ticket and he required my partners member number. He of course said we are not members and have never had any association with their company. He said he will have to call us back so he can investigate why the ticket was sent to him us. He later rang to say it was a mistake but we can however still claim the prize. We spoke on and off with him over a eriod of 3 days because he said he had to keep reviewing blah blah. He later asked for my partners D.O.B, bank account details and id. I spoke to him saying we were uncomfortable giving him those details as it seemed like a scam. He said he understands but then we would miss out on the prize so we gave him an empty account number. He then said he had to make an appointment for my partner to ring his "sponsor" in Hongkong. He then gave me his "sponsors" website details and phone number.
I thought I would checkout the net for similar scams. I found a few that had happend in NZ and Aus back in 09. Someone had suggested checking out when the scammers website had been created. I found out that www.emerorholidays.com and www.gta-hk.com (their sponsor) was created by using the same domain and was created on the same day as each other!
I called "Louis" about this and he had to get back to me. He later called and said the person who created their website also created their sponsors website. Apparently they think we are completely stupid. I have reported them to the domain that their sites are created through as well as the ACCC and I will be ringing my state consumer affairs and fair trading on Tuesday.
I hope I am wrong but as they say its too good to be true.
Has anyone else received this scratch ticket?
Answer: Fake, we received the same tickets. It's a scam, they will ask you for $3750 USD to cover fees and charges and join up to become a coporate member and give you an account to send the money too. If you send it you will never see your money again or the fake prize. Both the www.emperorholidays.com and www.gta-hk.com websites are fake and both were only created a couple of months ago.
Be wary they are professional scammers, the people here that are claiming to have previously done business with either of them are just the scammers trying to make it seem legit, if you look at their profiles they were all created on 1-1-11 and have all just answered once in this particular question. There was also a couple of bogus "press releases" for both sites as well both of which were released on the same day 1-1-11 too LOL (obviously they were busy that day trying to make both companies appear legitimate)
I would assume that it is the same people that have previously tried the same scheme under the names Evermas, Aviats and Euphoria which were all supposedly travel agencies based in Malaysia just like Emperor, but their websites no longer exist as I expect emperors will be closed within a couple of months time before they appear again with a new name.
If you receive a christmas themed envelope from them just bin it. Category: Law & Ethics
Questions about Happy Feet.?
Recently an emperor penguin who we named Happy Feet arrived in NZ. He must have swum 3 000 km from the Antarctic to the North Island. Penguins, like us, need fresh water, and they normally get it by eating snow. How would he have got it on his long sea trip? Did he eat by just sticking his head underwater and grabbing fish? He had to be operated on to remove sand and twigs which hed ingested instead of snow, so the only place where hell be safe is back on the Ice. Hes going to be released in the sub-Antarctic. How do they know he wont just head north again? And why would he make a trip like that anyway?
