Singaporeans,whos glad that Hady Mirza won us the Asian Idol? Why?

Answer: Our Hady Mirza's win was totally unexpected. Some haters even thought that he shouldnt even be the one representing Spore and wanted Taufik to go instead..so in your face non-believers. Hady Mirza didnt have the best voice. BUT,He went cool all the way throughout his performance,had fun and delivered a sincerity and stage presence that the others somehow lacked that night. HE knew he wasnt the best BUT he gave it his all and it shows. Sincere,boyish good looks,a great personality that managed to permeate through his performances that night, what more can i say about this brudder.... He deserves the title and hey, you gotta love the underdogs... :D

As for me, Im neutral.
Answer: Hady doesnt need to work 101% hard to impress the viewers as he has the X Factor unlike Jonathan who has to go all out to impress them. Based on the comments from the judges on that Performance Night and the articles in the New Paper on 26 September 2006, it seems that all the judges wanted Jonathan to win. WHY?? Must Jonathan win just because he is the student of Dick Lee? However, Jonathan's fans and supporters majority are Chinese while Hady's fans and supporters are of mixed racial. Even througout the Spectacular, Hady's talents shines every week. So, CONGRATULATIONS TO HADY MIRZA.

Do you think Hady Mirza from Singapore deserved to win Asian Idol?

Hady is seen as a “harmless opponent” by the voters from non-Sgporean countries, so he is likely to gain a whole load of “unintentional” votes by other countries voters. The Indian and Mlaysian biggest concern is Mike and Mau, who have a large SMS-freak citizens of Indo and Phil. Voting for Jaclyn would only lessen Vys and Sawant’s chance;hence the last option for the 2nd country goes to Hady. Vietnam ppl worry that Mike or Sawant had a large chance to win, hailing from two of the most populated countries in the world. Voting the 2nd place for Mau is quite risky(since her country has an SMS-freak population of 80 million), so the 2nd choice falls to Hady. Indo and Phil were relaxed bcos of their population n they are SMS-freak populace. they think Hady might gain the least votes since he has a non-SMS-freak ppulation of 4mil backing him,hence the 2nd choice goes to hady. i tot mike was really good. i personally din think hady was WOW as compared to the others.. i agree that it was the fact that everyone voted for him as well coz they din think he would win. well.. repeats are on thurs on channel 5.. its back to back i think.. from 4.30pm.
Answer: i think so many people dont realize about how crucial is the second vote, if someone vote the contestant that they think that they have least opportunity to win , in this case singapore have the lowest number population among the other country. they will be so many INDIA SIN , INDO SIN , VIET SIN , MAL SIN , PHIL SIN, SIN WHATEVER. but according to one tabloid that i read when they incur pooling , hady mirza is the second after their country idol, and i think he has some kind of charisma who can make the girls melt :) but that show is fantastic, no matter who win, i guess everybody win.

It was indeed unexpected but nevertheless Hady actually won 70% of a milion votes once upon a time and put it this way..this time round its the case of the camarderie of being Singaporean..Majulah Singapura!
Answer: I think the other Idols relied too much on showing off their singing prowess, forgetting to CONNECT with the audience on an emotional level. Hady won because he was the only one NOT showing any jitters. The only one who did his own thing. I could see the other Idols were nervous and anxious - it was on their faces. Hady's sincerity in his first song won me over. It was a touching performance. I think this was what clinched it for him. I'm sure people from other countries voted for him because of it. He showed his versatility with his second song, although I wasn't too keen on the choice. He can sing any genre -I don't see the others being able to do this. The other Idols chose mostly inspirational songs for their second song (the English one) but somehow I didn't feel they gave it their 100% per cent unlike him. It was as if their heart wasn't totally in it. Something was just missing. Hady's showmanship was outstanding. The other Idols really didn't show enough showmanship. Hady had the X factor and connected very well with the audience. Not self-conscious unlike the rest. Confident too but not overbearing. When the judges predicted who would win, they totally forgot (except for Ken Lim - how unprofessional, tsk...tsk...) : winning this competition is not just about how good your voice is, it's not just about how good your technique is, it's about which singer has the most appeal across all countries. Let's say, I come from India, Indonesia or Malaysia - what is the thing I look for in a singer the most? Someone who can move me or someone who can sing extremely well. You can have the best technique, deliver a technically flawless performance but if you don't look like you're enjoying yourself and singing to yourself...so what? You can sing an opera-like song and pull out all the stops but leave people cold because that kind of singing just doesn't appeal to them. You can have the best voice in the competition but if you don't give sincerity and emotion 100%, if your showmanship is not there, something is missing. You simply can't win a competition like this based on looks alone. Anyway, assuming people would vote according to looks is also insulting the intelligence of Asians. You can't succeed based solely on looks, especially in a competition like this. Otherwise Katherine McPhee would have won American Idol! Haha.....and Taylor Hicks, Fantasia, Reuben wouldn't have won American Idol. Same thing happened in other countries. Other Idols didn't win because of looks. If looks was the basis, you could also say the same about Vy of Vietnam since a lot of guys were goo-goo gaa-gaa over her. Why didn't she win? To the ones who keep pointing to a faulty voting system, I visited a blog belonging to a Filipino and Hady was leading the polls...Singaporeans can vote all they want but they still wouldn't be able to "buy" him the title. No matter how rich they are. Because they'd be outnumbered. Voting the least favourite as the second choice as a strategy? Please don't insult the intelligence of Asians. Don't tell me people can't figure out this strategy could backfire. On the other hand, to the few people who REALLY think this is what happened..erm..the truth could be, people aren't as intelligent as you think to even employ such a strategy... And so what if your votes failed to be registered? That could have happened to people from other countries too... Hady had already performed in Indonesia and Malaysia. He has fans there. And he showed off his showmanship in his duets with the other Idols. But over and above that, music is not about the language. It's about the emotion. He did well because he moved people regardless of the language. He's got a husky, attractive voice and knows how to use it well too without overdoing things. Hady thoroughly deserved the win. So, congratulations Hady! I would sincerely like to hear more from the other Idols too because they were GREAT. So, as the judges say, Asia wins in the end. Forget about the sniping. It's so "sour grapes" and ungracious. Let's move on and enjoy each other's Idols. If you can't, well too bad. You can't change the results, can you? Someone up there decides, not you.

Dont you think Ken Lim did not appear very gracious when Hady Mirza was announced as the Singapore Idol 2006?

Hell, he did not even congratulate Hady properly. When host Gurmit asked Ken Lim for any words for Hady, the winner - Ken instead focused on Jonathan instead and spoke to him first, instead of Hady. He then proceeded to tell Hady to make sure that you are inspirational and that you must make the nation proud. That sounded like he really said it grudgingly and that he wished that Jonathan had won instead. I dont have anything against Jonathan, in fact I think he did very well in the finals and I would be happy if he had won too but the fact 70% of the voters opted for Hady doesnt warrant Ken Lim to act this way. And he shouldnt ever smile too. He looks very ugly when he tries to smile. Probably because the smiles were never sincere and his cool persona was probably more important to him than anything.
Answer: c'mon, I don't think its fair for you guys to judge Ken just by his comment on Hady during the finals. How could you say that he is not supportive of Hady when the fact is that he had been rooting for Hady since the first Spectacular?? Weeks after weeks, the judges were commenting that Hady is good, he should be in the finals etc... Look, Jon lost, alright? No doubt BOTH Jon and Hady are the judges favourite. So naturally Ken would like to comfort Jon before he goes on to commenting on the winner.

Do you think that Hady Mirza from Singapore really deserved to win Asian Idol?

Sorry everyone, but I personally dont think that Hady really deserved to win the Asian Idol. I think that Jaclyn Victor from Malaysia or Mike from Indonesia deserve to win the "Asian Idol" title than Hady. Also, what makes him so standing out than the rest of the participants? I also think that Jaclyn and Mikes voice is obviously better than him...anyone agree with me? Plus, is there anyone who is suprised with the result? I dont think that the majority of people will expect this to happen...is it? Thats what I think... It seems like pretty much of you disagree with me...=P What I write is what I think. Different people have different answers and reason to support their answers, which I think is great. The reason why I post this question is just to make a survey, to see what people think about the results.
Answer: Personally, i agree with you.i don't think hady deserved to win asian idol. His voice is just like any other artist and doesn't have any differences. Jac, mike and mau more deserved to win and most of the juries agree with it. But...i think hady had a unique attraction that can attract most asian people. always remember that, win by sms means popularity or glamorous not talent... If asian idol was really base on juries and talent, i'm sure jac, mike and mau are more deserve to win...
