Can we stay in US after I 94 expiry if petition docs are couriered to USCIS?
Hi Friends,
My H1 B visa and I 94 both expire on 19-Jun-2010.
My company has couriered the petition docs to USCIS for normal processing on 10-Jun-2010.
Does it mean I can stay is US till i get a response from USCIS.?
My company visa department representative has sent the following info to me - "This is also to keep you informed that On an average it takes 4 weeks for the receipt to reach our offices. Once received we would have the details updated in AIMS notifying the receipt at our offices. You would receive a messenger email requesting you to log a Service Centrale request for obtaining a copy of the receipt copy. You can continue to stay in the US once extension is filed. Per U.S. Code of Federal Regulations {8 CFR 274a.12(b) 20} an employee can continue to work and stay for a period of upto 240 days beyond the current I94 expiry date – if a timely extension has been filed for"
Please let me know if you know any info regarding this.
Thanks
My company visa representative just said that the petition is couriered to USCIS. However it was not clear if USCIS acknowledged it or not or what is the status.
Does USCIS share any unique id to track the status?

Are there taxis available at Gare Centrale in Montreal at 8-9 PM?
I will be traveling to Montreal in December and I need to get a taxi to my hotel - does anybody know if there are taxis I can take from Gare Centrale from a taxi stand or something?
My hotel is the Loews Hotel Vogue at 1425 De La Montagne
Answer: yeah, but where's your hotel? Several are attached to Gare Central underground. Then again, the taxi stand is pretty much indoors too, I believe. Note that Montreal taxi drivers don't appreciate short fares!
Ooooh, that's only a few blocks away (but not attached). Be prepared to get growled at!

Train travel in Italy - from Milan to Grosseto?
I am arriving in Milan, Italy (Malpensa) via Amsterdam at 11:25am. I need to get from Milan to Grosseto & have been told that the train would be an easy and economical way to get there. I am trying to figure out which would be the best train to take from the below options:
Depart 2:00pm from Milano Cantrale
Arrive 4:39pm Firenze Rifredi
Depart 5:16pm Firenze Rifredi
Arrive 8:09pm Grosetto
OR
Depart 3:10pm Milan Centrale
Arrive 4:42pm Genova Piazza
Depart 4:52pm Genova Piazza
Arrive 8:32pm Grosseto
I have been told that Malpensa is more than an hour away from train station in Milan so I would also be interested in knowing advice on best way to get from airport to train station. Will I have enough time for bag retrieval, immigration, travel time, etc to make 2:00pm train? I also have been told that Florence train station is smaller and easier to manage (vs Genova) and therefore will be easier to navigate with luggage, etc. Any addtl info would be appreciated! THANKS
Answer: http://www.trenitalia.com/en/index.html for train
http://www.malpensashuttle.it/e-default.htm for bus
"Coach is not a turn of phrase, it is a way of travelling: quiet and safe. The Malpensa Shuttle Coach Buses connect each 20 minutes the Milan Central train station with Malpensa Airport.
The Malpensa Shuttle also connect directly the two Milan Airports, Linate and Malpensa, and stop at both Terminal 1 and Terminal 2 of the latter.
In the occasion of fair events, all the Malpensa Shuttle stop, on request, at the Milan Fair, which therefore is reached, comfortably and cheaply, directly from Malpensa Airport."

http://www.malpensanavetta.it/inglese/default_ing.htm
As for train schedule, I think they suggested you the best options (that Firenze stations, which is not the main one, is smaller, right).
Anyway, although it will take a little longer, remember you can also, from Linate, reaching Novara via coach bus (near 40 minutes)
http://www.stnnet.it/novaramalpensa.html (stop at Stazione FS, *not* Autostazione, ticket on board); then from Novara (smaller station there as well) to Torino (Turin) then Grosseto.

What is the most interesting, beautiful and fun route to take from Paris, France to San Sebastion, Spain?
Any advice is much appreciated. I have a book on France I am reviewing, as I search for the most appealing cities to see while I travel from Paris to San Sebastion, Spain (located in the Basque country, which borders the southwest end of France). I will be in France in the first week of April, I have 8 days total travel time. I know Spain well, but have never been to France. It is hard to decide which cities and route to take, as I want to stay in hostels and take advantage of my time in France, thus not travelling too far out of the central and southwest parts of France, as I make my way down to San Sebastion, Spain. I would like to see Strasbourgh but I think this would be too far out of the way... Marseille is another city I would like to visit but it is quite far from San Sebastion by train. I would prefer to visit only a few cities and spend less time travelling in between. I am contemplating purchasing a France-Spain Eurorail 5 ride in 2 months pass. However, I may do well taking buses if I take a route that goes straight down from Paris to San Sebastion with only a few stops in between. I would love to be able to choose a route that would allow me to see the natural beauty of france, while also having the opportunity to take in the french culture. Do you have any suggestions on must see cities or a route that I might want to take??
Answer: =] My advice to you is to make a list of all the cities you'd like to visit... and visit the one's which you possibly could -- if you're from North America? if you're from Europe then simply come back again
You can go París > Strasbourg > Marseille > Barcelona > Donostia
I'm Basque ;) So I'll tell you to visit here
You can get trains from París to Bordeaux
Then in Bordeaux you can go directly to Donostia/Irún or you can visit some of the Basque Country in (64) , or some of Landes (40)
There's quite a lot to do in Bordeaux it's a huge city,
then you can visit Landes - if you'd like to try Surfing then you'd have fun here
Lot's of sand and sea (Although COLD in April!)
Then there's Biarritz, and all the little Basque villages around here such as Donibane Lohizune/Saint-Jean-de-Luz or Donibane Garazi/Saint-Jean-Pied-de-Port
Maybe visit Lake Gentau in the Pyrénées (Depending when in April depends whether there will still be snow)
As for transport... I prefer trains to buses, they are faster quieter - you can get food. drinks. use toilets... and is more peaceful...
also the view is more scenic because in bus you're on motorway, in trains they build the lines through mountains and farmland - they also generally take you into a town center
I'd plan first, and it might be cheap to buy individual train tickets - depending on the stops
If you wanted to explore "real" France then maybe you shouldn't have Donostia as your end destination, for me France is only in the South... not South West which is the Basque Country
and also because you're going in April... it will be a lot warmer in the South compared to the South West

Translation from a Germanic Language?
I know its not German, I think it may be Danish?
1. In die tijd spraken alle mensen één taal.
Answer: Its Dutch, actually.
1.Now the whole earth had one language and the same words.
2.And as people migrated from the east, they found a plain in the land of Shinar and settled there.
3.And they said to one another, "Come, let us make bricks, and burn them thoroughly." And they had brick for stone, and bitumen for mortar.
4.Then they said, "Come, let us build ourselves a city and a tower with its top in the heavens, and let us make a name for ourselves, lest we be dispersed over the face of the whole earth."
5.And the Lord came down to see the city and the tower, which the children of man had built.
6.And the Lord said, "Behold, they are one people, and they have all one language, and this is only the beginning of what they will do. And nothing that they propose to do will now be impossible for them.
7.Come, let us go down and there confuse their language, so that they may not understand one another's speech."
8.So the Lord dispersed them from there over the face of all the earth, and they left off building the city.
9.Therefore its name was called Babel, because there the Lord confused the language of all the earth. And from there the Lord dispersed them over the face of all the earth.

Wanted: Help getting from Florence (SMN) to Pisa Airport via train!?
I am looking to go from Santa Maria Novella station in Florence (on a Wednesday if it matters) to the Pisa Airport (PSA) to catch a RyanAir flight.
P.S. I already looked at RailEurope but it changes every time I look at train times, and it doesnt have the information I want about little times, or the fact that my train might be late and I cant be late for my flight.
The flight is at 8:30am and I want to make sure I can catch a train from SMN early enough to get me to Pisa Centrale and then catch the connecting train to the airport.
I am having a hard time looking at websites and getting a general time line for this situation...
If you have travelled between SMN and the airport, it would be greatly helpful if you could tell me how long the connection between Pisa Centrale and the airport is, whether or not Ill have to walk far to my RyanAir flight gate from the train stop, etc.
If you have an approx train fare cost (within 10€) that would be great.
Thanks!
Answer: There are trains from Santa Maria Novella to Pisa Airport at 4:30 am and 5:32 am. Both of these require a change at Pisa Centrale and the total travel time will be a little less than 2 hrs. The 2nd of these gets to the airport at 7:25 am which may be a little close for your comfort. The connection time is 8 minutes and 5 minutes, respectively. However, it's a short distance to the airport and you could get a cab - the train travel time is 5 minutes. The cost in 2nd class is 5.60 euro.
Use Pisa Aero for the airport stop:
http://www.ferroviedellostato.it/cms/v/index.jsp?vgnextoid=ad1ce14114bc9110VgnVCM10000080a3e90aRCRD
While you asked specifically about trains, there is another option. Terravision operates buses from Santa Maria Novella to Pisa airport that are scheduled for the Ryanair flights. There's a bus at 3:35 am and another at 5:50 am. the 5:50 bus gets you to the airport at 7:00 am in plenty of time for your 8:30 flight. http://www.terravision.eu/florence_pisa.html#. Cost 10 euro

-sigh- I need a new MP3 player?
alrighty, so I have a Creative Zen Mosaic, and im pretty sure its going to die soon. Im quite devastated, but Id like to start looking for a new one before mine kicks it. I need suggestions.
Heres what I need:
A quality screen.
Easy to carry around, hard to lose.
8 GB (or six if they make it? I dont know if any companies do?)
Quality sound
It has to be able to work with iTunes. (Like in Creative Centrale, it gets all the songs from iTunes into CC so I can put it on my MP3 and I like that. No hassle.)
And most importantly: AFFORDABILITY! Im broke! (So that puts an iPod Nano out of the question, ennit?)
Heres stuff that would be a bonus:
Awesome color choices.
A built in speaker.
A recording function.
...Im really, really sick of my Creative Zen.
Suggestions, pleaseeeee?

Write Protection on an mp3 on a Zen MX?
I recently decided to clean out my Zen so I can have more space. I tried deleting a music folder, along with other folders within it, and it gave me some B.S. that my device has stopped responding. I already checked if I left my Zen MX unlocked so thats not the problem and I unplugged and plugged it back into the USB slot. I opened the folder to see if I can manually delete all the folders and files. I was able to delete all the mp3s except one and I came across some file called checksum.md5. I tried deleting both files, the mp3 and checksum, but I keep getting a message that my storage is write-protected. I want to know what is checksum.md5 and how do I delete the write protection?

Mar 10, 2011 ... Top 8 Things You Should Know about Mercato Centrale & Midnight Mercato: 1. We are moving up to a new location @ the corner of 8th and 34th!
Is this in Dutch? Can you translate it for me?
1. In die tijd spraken alle mensen één taal.
Answer: Everyone used crappy online translators
1. Back in that time the people only spoke one single language.
2. The population grew strongly and moved towards the east. There they discovered a large and useful piece of land in the lands of Sinear, where they could live. A lot of people moved to that place and it grew into a well-populated area.
3-4. The inhabitants of the land were planning on building a large city. In that city there had to be an enormous temple tower, reaching into the heavens. A monument of eternity for the builders. "Now we'll have a central and stable spot for our people, so that they won't have to roam anymore", they said. And so they started building the city. Great amounts of stones were put into ovens and as asphalt was used as cement.
5-6. As the Lord saw the city and tower in progress, He said: "Look at what they have already accomplished together at the beginning of their alliance. As for these people with their only single language, nothing shall remain impossible to accomplish!
7. Let us descend onto the people and grant them various languages, so that they won't be able to understand each other anymore!"
8. As for this God devided the people into different groups around the world and thus stopping the construction of the city.
9. This is why we call this city Babel (commotion). This was the place where the Lord brought commotion among the people by granting them a great variety of languages spread all around the world.
