Compare the inequalities faced by the Dalit people of India and the Aboriginals of Australia.?
Compare the inequalities faced by the Dalit people of India and the Aboriginals of Australia.?
Answer: In the context of traditional Hindu society, Dalit status has often been historically associated with occupations regarded as ritually impure, such as any occupation involving butchering, removal of dead animals, removal of night soil (human feces) and leatherwork. One million Dalits work as manual scavengers, cleaning latrines and sewers by hand and clearing away dead animals.[10] Engaging in these activities was considered to be polluting to the individual who performed them, and this pollution was considered to be 'contagious'. As a result, Dalits were commonly banned and segregated from full participation in Hindu social life (they could not enter the premises of a temple or a school and stayed outside the village), while elaborate precautions were sometimes observed to prevent incidental contact between Dalits and other castes.[11] Discrimination against Dalits still exists in rural areas (where two-thirds of India's people live) in the private sphere, in everyday matters such as access to eating places, schools, temples and water sources. It has largely disappeared in urban areas and in the public sphere.[12]
Most of the Dalits are bonded workers and many work in slave-like conditions to pay off debts that were incurred generations ago.[13] The majority of Dalits live in segregation and experience violence, murder, rape and other atrocities to the scale of 110,000 registered cases a year, according to 2005 statistics.[14] Common belief is that these numbers do not approach the real total of crimes committed against Dalits. Many crimes go unreported, and few registered cases ever get to trial.[15]
Many Dalits who have converted to other religions in the past few centuries continue to retain their Dalit heritage. In the 1991 census, Dalits numbered just over 130 million and constituted more than 16% of India's population. Discrimination against Dalits is not limited to the Hindu community.
Some Dalits have successfully integrated into urban Indian society, where caste origins are less obvious and less important in public life. In rural India, caste origins are more readily apparent and Dalits remain excluded from local religious life, though some qualitative evidence suggests that its severity is in fact fast diminishing. [16][17] Dalits and similar groups are also found in Nepal, Sri Lanka and Bangladesh. In addition, the Burakumin of Japan, Baekjeong of Korea and Midgan of Somalia are similar in status to Dalits.

How can people tell who is a Dalit and who isnt?
I dont support the caste system in anyway, but I was just wondering from the terrible treatment of Dalits in India, how can people determine from birth what caste they are supposedly a part of? Why cant you just call yourself a Brahmin or something of higher caste, if there is such bad treatment of Dalits? I have read that people believe Dalits are born into their caste? Do they have certain features that determine their caste, or is it based on their families jobs?
Answer: In the context of traditional Hindu society, Dalit status has often been historically associated with occupations regarded as ritually impure, such as any involving butchering, removal of rubbish, removal of waste and leatherwork. It is for Hindus. How you justify Bhagat or Guru Ravidaas who was dalit or shudra as Bhagat?
In Ramayana Lord Rama killed a dalit named shambook just because he was doing Bhagati(which is forbidden to dalits). Also how you justify setting on fire Guru Granth sahib(Sikh Scriptures) by Hindu mobs which contain the writings of Bhagat Ravidaas. Chances are there people set sikhs holy books on fire had eaten in Langar(free food served by sikh community)
Burning of Sikh scripture by Hindu mobs just did not happen during tenure of Indira Gandhi only but many times before that too.
Oops you are a faithless person I would not even call you a Hindu. You skipped my question. I did even mentioned that happened before the tenure of Indira Gandhi too. What else can Hindus do with sikhs than they did? They even sent 50000 Sikhs to jail for demanding language based state which western countries provide grants and in south they were already given. Still todate Punjab is the only place which shares it capital. Hindus blamed Sikh terrorists for Killing of Hindus. All of them were punished for this alleged crime not only them there relatives including elderly and babies were punished. But Hindu terrorists were given plum posts.
Oops Your edit is also partial. I never justify Sikhs hating Hindus. It is against Sikh Philosophy. Not only few leaders, all of the killers of Sikhs are free. If I believe you more than 3000 sikhs are killed in Delhi alone and there are many more thousands killed at many other places in India.
It was BJP under whose leaders slogans were raised Kachh Kara Kangha Kirpan, Bhejo esko Pakistan and Sikhs property were destroyed. It was BJP formerly called Jansangh which opposed Punjabi language and First Gurduara burnt after independent in 1959 was probabaly by BJP workers
Now come to original question, it is Hindu Philosophy which allows killing of shambooks. If it is wrong Lord Rama can not be Lord. If it is true than Ravidaas or Ravidas or Ravidass can not be declared Bhagat. It also promotes a message try to kill if someone is week or praise if he/she is strong. Concentrate on this point rather than secondry points.
Your inside is full of hate. Wash this first. No I do not write against Bhindrawala. For me he was revulutionary who was the only one who dared to confront Hindu leaders from their point. Your points just came from Hindu medias point of view. Bhindrawalas all lectures available on net. All points which were raised against him, were only reply to Hindu media. I am sure one day Indian Parliament will install his statue in parliament as they did in case of Master Tara Singh, Kharak Singh and Bhagat Singh. Once all these were terrorists and sent to jail.
Oops, there is term Justice is not only to be done but appeared to be done It never happened in case of Sikhs. They could not eliminate all so called terrorists but they eliminated thousands others including elderly which include 92 years old and infants which include six month child, ladies which include pregnant ladies. These were not killed in fighting but extra judicial killing.
Answer: there's no religious justification for burning other people's holy books. there's been a lot of tension between hindus, sikhs and muslims, especially with indira gandhi's actions, and her subsequent assassination.

Does exist any Dalit school in hindu countries?
Can a Dalit attend school and hospitals?
Answer: there are no seperate schools for Dalits, they study along with everyone.......those old days are gone where a Dalit was discriminated.......Don't you know? or hasnt your book been updated yet?...... the Dalits are able to use the reservation system for themselves and are ahead of most other people in the society, some of them stand in the public elections and win it by a fair margin comprehensively, for them the cut off score is lesser in any government examination, education for them is free whereas its way too costly for many others , half of them belong to the upper middle class section , the rest half are still ignorants who live in the villages.....Today , one who is poor , is a Dalit....hehe

what is the difference between the terms "dalit" and "chandala" in Hinduism?
I am confused with how those two terms are used. I read somewhere that dalits are the untouchables. Another source uses the term chandala for untouchables. But in another reference material, it seems that these terms refer to two different social classes in Indian society. This got me confused.

What is dalit, Because the Dalits have no rights in india?
I am Brazilian and I know why the Indian people discriminate?
Answer: I know why you are asking, you are asking on the basis of that novela (Opera) you are watching in brazil. actually, what you are seeing there now, about the culture of India, is totally based on 1970's of Indian culture.
and they have stressed on the negative traits only. we have a very beautiful and vast culture here. that novel is made up with some spices and exaggeration to make it popular.
in present times, the caste discrimination is merely bothered here. and there is nothing like this that the parents choose bride for there son, though parents are concerned for marriage, but there is nothing like that THE GROOM SEE THE BRIDE AFTER MARRIAGE.
there are lots of love marriages happening.. and in arrange marriages, Groom and bride should agree to marriage..
I know all this because I have many brazilian friends on orkut. and they ask me this same question many times

If there is no caste system in Islam and Christianity, Why is Congress so eager to bring reservation for Dalit?
Muslims and Christians?
MS, you are not smart enough to declare that I am mistaken. First of all let me tell you it is not financial based. It is only religious based, more clearly we can say it is merely Muslim based or Congress Vote bank based. If it had been financial based, all castes and religions would have been included including Dalit Brahmins and other Dalith Sawarna Classes. So dont try to distort the fact.
Answer: Declared/ expected move is just a part of impeachment policy of INC+.
They can't termed as the welfare seekers of the weaker/poor sections of the society unless they include Hindus also in their consideration.
