Im a 17 year-old high school student who will be graduating in June 2011. Im planning on attending college for a bachelors degree in criminal justice. I met him at my schools college fair. Hes a 27 year-old Marine and the official recruiter for my school, which is how we got talking in the first place. When I met him, he was very polite, respetcful, and professional. Then he started contacting me for interviews and exams to see if I would qualify for the Marine Corps. However, little by little, we started interacting more, on the phone and in person. He eventually confessed in having a personal interest in me, and he told me what many peope and teachers have told me: That Im very mature for my age. Ive been mistaken on the phone for an adult due to my use of vocabulary and the way I carry out myself. He (the Marine) claims its one of the things he likes about me, my maturity. Weve hung out together on several occasions and were both into each other. If theres no sex, is it okay for us to be together? I know its illegal for an adult to be with a minor, but what if theres no sex involved? In the meantime, we have both agreed to wait until I graduate to be in a relationship, but in the meantine, were only hanging out and getting too know each other more. (June 2011) Will this relationship work out? What do you guys think?
People immediately assume that he is only using me and taking advantage of me because of my age, but he himself has said that he could get in BIG trouble if his superiors find out that he has been interacting with me outside of his profession because Im a minor and in high school. You are pretty unusually intelligent and self-aware for someone your age. Normally I would say the answer you probably expect: you both need to find someone your age.
but after reading what you said, my issue is not with your physical age difference, but with the fact that you're still in high school and he is settled in a career. HE is going to be a Marine recruiter for years, until he retires. HE is ready to settle, and like almost all Marines (i live in San Diego, Ca. I know LOTS of Marines) he is going to want to settle with you immediately, for mutliple reasons. I don't know what it is exactly, probably the increase in pay influences it, but something about being involved in the military makes couples want to get married WAY too soon.
you shoud ask yourself, where are you going in life? are you content to skip out on college and be a military wife? or are you planning to go to school after graduation? if you do plan to go to college, it's a better plan for you to avoid starting a relationship with this man. YOU have alot more life to experience, no matter how mature you are, HE does not.
There is nothing wrong with being a military wife, but is that the life you want?

How do I call back for a second interview?
So here is my situation. I went to a job fair for a restaurant that will be opening a new location in June 2011. I applied as a server/hostess, and got my 1st interview with the manager. The interview went pretty well, and at the end of the interview, the manager told me that she is doing callbacks for 2nd interviews on Tuesday and Wednesday. If I dont hear back after wednesday, is it appropriate that I call the restaurant, even though I know they have already made their decisions for 2nd interviews? Also, what do I say?

is what my mother did right?
hi, iam 36 yrs old and ive been divorced for over a year now. iam engaged to be married june 2011 and iam 7 months pregnant with our first baby. when i got divorced in december 2009 i left with nothing. over the course of the yr. 2010 now i have my own apartment and a new car. before i got my new car in march 2010 i had to use my parents car, but i could only use the car for work basically, not to go shopping or take care of other things.
so my being old and responsible, i got my own car so i can do whatever i wanted. well my parents have two cars now. my brother who is 32 lives with his girlfriend for 4yrs, she has a car that they can share. my mom gave my brother her second car and now iam practically left with having to deal with the fact that i cant get into my own car when ever i want to cuz i have to constantly share my car with my father, that they take advantage of when my mom has a car that her and my father can share too. she just gave the car to my brother, but when i need it i had to give her $500 for the car. my father was furious cuz she just up and gave him the second car when he needed it. now iam left to have to wait for my own car, when my mom has her car, my father has mines and my brother has the car that my mom just up and gave him.
i am trying to be fair about sharing my car cuz my parents let me use theirs, but to a certain extent. what should i do? iam i being selfish to think this way? i let my father use my car to go to the doctor office this morning, he calls me to tell me that my mom and him are going to look at a house now, now my mom is home ( with her car, but my father still hasent brought my car back with the keys and parked it for me) so me guess is that they took my car while my moms car is parked at the house.......
i will worry about my brother because my brother is 32 yrs old and grown just like me and need to stand on his own two feet just like i have too, iam hearing impaired particially deaf and pregnant, dosent give my parents the right to take advantage of the use of my car.

I need your thoughts on my situation.?
Im 12 (almost 13) and my life is falling apart. I heard that stress is bad for young people and that stress can sometimes kill someone. I have a LOT of stress going on in my life. First, my life was going uphill, it was really great. I recently got a boyfriend, but thats where things started to go downhill. I liked him since grade 5, but its not our relationship thats stressing me out and ruining my life. Its my mom, she told me that were moving to the country for a year. Then well move back here once weve gotten enough money for a down payment on a house, which will take around a year. She wants to move in August 2011, and its June 1st 2011 right now. I dont care where we move, I just want to stay at my school. Ive always wanted to try and ask that guy out (not saying his name here), and finally he asked me. Its only been 3 days! Its not fair that we spent a whole year trying to build up the courage to ask each other out and now suddenly Im moving. Its not fair to him or me. The house they want to move into for now is at my step dads moms house. She has a really big house, and the other half of it is open for rent, and shes a really nice person so she has offered to let us pay only $700 a month for rent, that way we can save money and put it towards a down payment on a new house since I have a little brother and a sister on the way and we need a bigger house. But its really far away from my school, its in another city. Its not biking or bus distance from there to my school. The only way I could continue going to my school is if my step dad DOESNT take a job with a certain guy. If he takes the job with that guy, then he will be driving in the complete opposite direction every morning and he wont be able to drive me to school and pick me up. My mom was being really good about it, she said that she will do everything she can to try and keep me at my school. But my step dad says that he wants to take a job with that guy in the winter, so I wont be able to go to my school in the winter. But they seem to think that we can just move away for a year and move back. Thats not a good idea in my eyes. Its a terrible idea. It means I have to break up with my FIRST boyfriend, and after a year.. I dont think hell want to get back together again. :( we just bought my step dads moms truck from her so now we have 2 cars, but both my parents have full time jobs. My mom will go on maternity leave soon so she will be off work and it will be an easy time for me, but when my sister is born, my mom wont be able to drive me anymore. My step dad suggests that he can drive me to one of my friends houses in the morning when he goes to work, but then I would be arriving at my friends houses before they even wake up. And he doesnt have a way to pick me up after school. I REALLY need advice on my situation. And soon. I would be okay with moving if I didnt have a boyfriend. But I do. and I want us to be together for grade 7 and more. Im not letting my parents stop me from going to school. They say its best for the family to do this, but not if theyre leaving one member behind!! Its not fair that I have to go through this! All my friends lives are perfect! They all own houses that are close to the school and they will live there until high school! Im the ONLY one going through this that I know of. If I cant be with him, then I wont stay with my parents. I told my mom that if I have to change schools, Im going to ask my best friend if I can stay with her for a while. I know its a lot to ask, but my best friend is always there for me. And she understands me and whats happening right now. Im of course really stressed out and depressed, and paranoid and any other emotions you could possibly feel in this situation, so Im not sure if Im thinking straight. Please, I need advice! If you have gone through this before then I need your help. I need a miracle right now. Oh, I left out one detail. My mom is suing a company (Im not saying any details about the sue because we could get into trouble). She could get some money from the sue, but my only hope is that the sue happens NOW. Should Asians have to wait till twenty years of age to drive?
First off I would like to say that I am in no way racist and I love Asians. My reasons for supporting this bill are based off statistics and science facts solely. My brother has an adopted Indian boy, and my wife and I are thinking about adopting a Lebanese boy. I love Asians for many reasons including their great food, and karate/samurai movies. Their accents are very funny too and I enjoy listening to Jackie Chan talk while I watch him quick jab people in the face.
One of the reasons I am for this proposal is that statistically, Asians get in three times more car accidents a year then any other leading race. But dont get me wrong please! I know Asians are very good at making and designing cars, but not so much at operating them.
Another reason Im for this, is that I read an article in Scientific American about how the shape of most Asians eyes (slanted and narrow) make their perspective off compared to everyone else. I in no way blame Asians for this. It isnt their fault they were made like this. I strongly have dislike for anyone who cracks "asian eye" jokes because its morally wrong and offensive. God has chosen them to be so unique, and that is a blessing.
This bill will be proposed in june of 2011 after it has been thought out more to make sure there are no racial bias and are completely fair to everyone.

Post-bachelor - get a Msc or find work and then get an MBA?
Hi there,
I will probably finish my Bachelor in Business & Management in June 2011 and I would like to study further. Since I love to travel and experience new people, places and so on, I thought itd be a good idea to go for a (post)graduate degree in the field of international business.
However there are, if Im not mistaken, two possibilities now:
1) Continue studying directly, making a Masters degree instead of a MBA
2) Get work and collect work experience for 2-4 years and then opt-in for a MBA/IMBA
As far as I evaluate it, a combination makes little sense, especially from a financial pov.
I would very much appreciate any thoughts on how to decide, as Im torn between those two options.
Im for example lead to believe that itll be harder to study after some years of break/work, but then on the other hand, in a MBA course the work experience from me and fellow classmates would add much more practicality and applicability.
On a sidenote, Im an average student that is highly motivated, but simply from a financial point and also being realistic, the top-elite programs are probably not really appropriate for me.
Bonusquestions:
1) Do internships qualify for MBAs as well as work experience? Or is the lack of responsibility grave?
2) Any thoughts on Hawaii Pacific University? I met them at a fair and was fairly excited, their costs are also quite okay. I heard both positive and negative things though about especially the faculty body, most specifically some staff teaching in internation business.

Answer: There's a good reason many bachelor degree students have a hard time finding work after they graduate, and then they go on to say that their degree is worthless because they can't find a job in the field. The reason some have a hard time finding a job is because employers are looking for people who have a combination of on-the-job experience and a college degree. This is your best bet for securing a good job. Take some internships so that you can make industry contacts and get some job experience under your belt. Of course internships qualify as job experience, because you're learning the ropes - that's what they're for - to give you some job experience that you otherwise wouldn't have and thus making it a bit easier for you to get a job, possibly at the same company you interned for if you really impressed them. Believe me, my sister works in the health care field and does not have a college degree and says she makes more than recent college graduates and this is because her actual work experience is highly valued by employers more than having a college degree. Of course, she'd be the perfect candidate if she had a combination of both. This isn't to say that work experience trumps everything. There are many companies where you'll need a college degree in order to advance up the ranks or even get your foot in the door. But, if you look at a lot of help wanted ads you'll see that many employers are looking for a combination of experience and degree or they'll say the best candidate will have a college degree and X number of years of work experience.
You can have internships at the graduate level. In fact, you might go to a university that helps graduate students secure internships. My former graduate program offered internships. The graduate program that I'm applying to now has internships for it's masters program students and, this same program, actually requires it's students to intern.
Now, for some people, as they get older or if they're out of school for a long while and start a family then it might be harder to return to school. I had class with people who were in their 40s and going back to school. this really depends on you, your motivation, and your life situation, and not anyone else's. If you feel that you need to go straight through BA and MBA or else you'll end up not going back then do what's best for you. Some people can do it and some can't; you know You the best.
Contrasting with my sister's experience. I also got a BA and a bachelor's in IT. Like what you're considering, I went straight through college and worked part-time all the way through, doing miscellaneous jobs; no internships. Guess what? I graduated and found it hella hard to get a job in the field. Most employers required work experience, which I didn't have. It IS a grave mistake. You might find a sympathetic employer who's willing to hire you based on your degree alone, but there won't be many and if they have the choice, they'll pick the person with the degree AND work experience. Which is why it's also best to intern because you can network. Also use your university contacts (other students) to network. In the master's program you're more likely to encounter students who are hiring managers at their jobs and they can let you know of any job openings and let you interview. this happened to me. Also, interning opens up the possibility of you being hired full time with the company. volunteering lets you network with other people and this is how I also scored interviewes for job openings.
If you can, try working full time and going to school part time. Or, if you have the stamina, work full time and go to school full time. this will be easier if you don't have a family or children at home. This way, you can get that much needed work experience and continue your degree non-stop - it'll just take longer. Also, you might be lucky enough to find an employer that offers tuition reimbursement, thus saving you a lot of money.

Remember when Nicktoons was a home for old Nickelodeon cartoons, In May 2002-August 2007. Now since late 2007, Nicktoons Network is a clone of the G*y new Nick for including the new shows from today.
Remember when Nicktoons was first established, they showed the GOOD shows during the day, and not just in the morning.
Now, they show the good shows late at night, and plays the stupid ones from today during the day.
Its not fair for 90s kids like myself.
Remember when Nicktoons had on the good shows like Rugrats (old Rugrats), Rocket Power, Wild Thronberrys, CatDog, Angry Beavers, Chalk Zone, Hey Arnold, Oh Yeah Cartoons, etc.
Now what Nicktoons shows during the day now is garbage like Fanboy and ChumChum, Mighty B, Planet Sheen, and The Troop.
When nicktoons show the good shows early in the morning and play the stupid new shows during the day, its not fair for old Nick fans like myself.
When Nicktoons show the good shows I want to watch late at night, and play the new shows during the day, its unfair.
If we want to see our good ol shows on television again, than we really must do something.
Some of you guys should write a note to Nicktoons, and tell them that they need to show the good shows like CatDog and Rugrats during the day on weekends, and not just in the morning.
If we want our good ol shows back by June, then starting from April 19, 2011, Nicktoons will get back into showing the good shows during the day or in the late afternoon someday, and not just in the morning.

Answer: You're right to be concerned about this, it's quite a unique situation.
I think it's most important to make it clear that you are doing NOTHING WRONG. You say that you haven't had sex and so long as you don't before you're 18, no trouble should come your way.
The problems you're going to have are mostly to do with the fact that he is 27. It's very strange that a 27 year old would be attracted to a 17 year old no matter how mature you may be. Consider the state the two of you are in; you're only 17 (same as me) so you've still got some growing up to do. You're at a point in life where you have a tonne of decision to make. He's 27, he's getting closer and closer to 30 and perhaps finds dating a teenager makes him feel younger again? That's not necessarily 'using you' however it does mean that his interests are misguided.
I don't want to encourage you to keep away from him however I think you need to go in to this with eyes wide open. Good Luck ^_^

Should I forget about him?
We were dating a year and a half, and broke up about one month ago. He was my best friend before we started dating, and still remains. We speak just as much every night (long distance) and he broke up with me because he plans on joining the Army next year...I told him Id give up everything to be with him, we had everything planned out..I was going to take online courses whilst he joined..but he felt it wouldnt be fair to me, although I insisted Id want that.
Seeing as were still friends (hes my closest friend) we still love each other..and he regrets ending things, he keeps apologizing + saying he regrets it etc. His army advisor told him if he was to sign up in June/July 2011, he would begin November. Even as friends, Id worry about him every single day. Ive suffered from depression for years now, and although Im taking medication, hes all I really have. Hes been there for me through everything, and Im scared for him. Im going to miss him terribly every night, Im not an emotionally strong person...and I want whats best for him + even hes thinking he wants to try again, but Im not sure Id be able to handle it.
Should I tell him this or not/Should we try it again?

I suppose this advice will be in that category. I left my love for the wide world and returned 3 years later...to find we were meant to be.
So I think he's right about this. Army wives have stress and loneliness you won't be able to handle - now anyway. You will get better about handling stress if its not part of marriage. Learning how to develop a career and friends is critical to your married life, skills you have to know from the start.
Making marriage the learning place for developing a career and friends can be fatal unless your spouse understands he has to give up time for you to do that. It sounds like you guys are too young to tolerate that kind of stress.
And you're going to have to commit your life to a relationship that's happening long distance and military - he'll be under tremendous pressure to be just one of the guys (unmarried guys) when he's away from you. You WILL be alternately worried and mad. Worried for his safety. Mad that he's not there or calling as much as you need.
I vote for not marrying. Missing him is better than divorcing him. Talk with Army wives. Check their questions out here on Y/A. I don't think you could handle that.

first of all thank you so much i really appreciate your input. This is a research project over dreams using textural, cultural, and biblical analysis. It is cited in MLA format but you can ignore the quotes if you want to unless you see a huge error. Just leave the things in quotations they came straight from the source so they must stay like that. May 21, 2011!! I AM SOO SCARED OF JUDGMENT DAY, IM 13.5 AND THINKING ABOUT COMMITTING SUICIDE HELP ME!!!?
HELP!!! I am a 13 year old girl (14 on June 29) and about a week ago, I found out about May 21, 2011, Judgment day and I did a lot of computer research on it and it seems like absolutely true that I will die in 2 months and I am EXTREMELY FREAKED OUT ABOUT IT!!! Its not fair that I have to die as a 13 year old and not have much of a life!! My dad is an strong atheist and I am kind of Christian because I believe in the Lord, Jesus, and the Holy Ghost (My mormon friend taught me), but I cant attend church because of my dad. But im not sure what the Lord will decide for me on Judgment day because I have sinned many times in my life!! Im so scared that I will endure hell on earth for 5 months and then go to hell!! Does He seriously spare children?? What about teenagers? If this is all true about Judgment day coming so soon, I need to know how to be a true Christian and repent completely in the next 2 months!! Can you PLEASE help me?? This is ruining my life, completely. I am in a state of absolute depression, I have lost 10 pounds in one week because I eat hardly anything, all my perfect A grades went to either a C,D, or even an F, all my friends and boyfriend abandoned me, my mom is dead, I cry 10-14 hours a day, I pray 100 times a day even though I dont know how to, I cut myself, I make myself faint 10 times a day on average, and cant tell anyone about this. Is this fair to my sister and her wedding?
My older sister is getting married June 11, 2011. She has had her date picked, venue booked and everything set up for quite some time now.
She already made a change in her flowers because a cousin who is getting married in August 2011 pitched a fit that she had picked out those flowers LONG before my sister and that she couldn’t use them. My sister had no real attachment to the flowers (Stargazer Lilies) so she changed them because it was easier. And is much happier with her decision on her flowers anyway.
Now a second cousin who is the same age as my sister (25) has decided that after 5 years and 3 kids with her Boyfriend she is going to have the “Real Church Wedding” 2 weeks before my sisters wedding. There is even talk of this cousin using the same COLORS!
My sister is being really calm about it all saying “it’s a different date so no family will have to choose, and the weddings are in totally different settings so they won’t be the same. Our cousin is entitled to her day as well”. My sister has been ideal to work with through the WHOLE planning process. She is firm on what she wants, but is open to others ideas and politely turns them down if they aren’t what she wants. Her wedding is exactly what she and her FH want and I don’t want it ruined for them.
I am fit to be tied. I feel like this girl is trying to take the spotlight away from my sister who has finished school, working a stable job, and getting married. My cousin dropped out of college, has spotty employment, and needs government assistance to support her kids. My sister has worked hard to have the perfect day and I am worried that this wedding 2 weeks before is going to take away from it.
Is this fair to my sister?
I am actually the one to blame on plans being made public. I let colors and flowers slip. The only people my sister has conferred with were my mother, her MOH, and FMIL.
The only thing she has compromised on was flowers. She isnt bothered by that choice either.
I should add (though I dont know if it matters)
They are two different cousins from two different sides of the family. They dont know about the other.

yeah, ok, it does suck that your sister's flowers got ninjad, and then the same thing happened to her colors. cant even lie. that is a little shitty.
but here is the thing. a couple gets a wedding DAY. not a wedding week, not a wedding month, not a wedding year.
so as much as your sister having to change flowers and having someone else using the same colors might suck, there is nothing actually "wrong" with it, because they are for two entirely separate events.
the whole "stealing the spotlight" idea is flawed. it implies that the bride is the most important person for much longer than just the actual wedding day

Going online to "rate" my past attorney on a site...how does this sound?
"Fair weather attorney firm...when it rained on me they took the umbrella back.
When I spoke with the office manager before hiring the firm, he said if there was ever a time when I needed an extension on the payment to call. I called to ask if I could pay on the 31st as I missed 5 days of work with no pay. Two days my son had chicken pox and 3 days were spent at the Loma Linda NICU with my sister and her premature baby who flatlined a few times and is still there and expected to be there a while. I was ordered by the judge in my case to pay minors counsel $300 which I did and it had to be done in time for the hearing on June 10, 2011 but it left little else. I failed to call the day the payment was due because I was injured at work and went to the Emergency Room. I have documentation of all of this.
Told them this but it did not matter. I called ONE day after the payment was due and apparently that was too late because I was told by the accounting department if I did not have a payment, (which was due on the 18th) , in by 6pm on the 19th they would file to remove themselves from my case. I called back and told them they should do what they felt they needed to do and I would NEVER recommend them to anyone...not even a dog in a fight. Dont go to them if you really need help."

Self inflicted...I understand what you are trying to say but self inflicted is not the case. No one self inflicts their child with chicken pox. I wish things were different but dont offer to help if there is a hard time and then not help.
Answer: Vengeance is mine says the lord. sometimes it is best to leave sleeping dogs lie and forgive and forget. I understand the turmoil you must feel like this is just insult to injury, but you may open up a can of worms here. I agree it was really unethical what they did and if you do have other repercussions as a result, you must make sure that you had that don't worry about the payment thing in writing. It seems by telling them, "they should do what they felt they needed to do," You gave them free licence. You really have to be careful with words, especially when your angry. don't get me wrong I totally agree what they did was unethical. I would try contacting the attorney direct and see what his feeling are.
I remember hearing about this attorney that thought he was being cleaver. This 90 year old woman needed an attorney but couldn't afford one. So he said you have a nice home here you could will this to me when you pass. Thinking she was ninety how much longer can she last. Sweet deal probably way more then his wage would have been. He went off proud of his sweet deal. The old lady got the last laugh. The attorney died shortly afterwards of a heart attack.

soph+jnr year of high school i fucked up real bad now im graduating in aug 2010 if i work hard at it. my mom will not allow me to go on ANY senior activities (trip,prom,breakfast etc) because her reason is "since im graduating in august, im not apart of the senior class." i find that very unfair and unjustified, totally irrational since im only graduating 2 months behind (aug instead of june) and i wont be able to enroll in colleges until winter of 2011 i believe. please, i need your advice on how to convince her. if you are reading this right now, i beg for your help.

Answer: Tell your mom that if your school will allow you to participate in Senior class activities then you should be allowed to do so. For one thing, prom is not just for seniors. It is usually referred to as the Junior/Senior prom. In most cases it is put on by the Junior class for the Seniors and Juniors attend as well. The Senior breakfast sounds good, again if your school says it's okay for you to attend. As for the Senior Trip, I don't think you've really earned that, do you, really? First of all, most of those Senior Trips are not sponsored by the school at all. They are just a group of Seniors who have gotten together to arrange a trip; they are rather expensive and usually involve a lot of drinking and in my opinion are not that necessary. The majority of Seniors do not even go.
