Visitors are one step closer to visiting Southeast Asia’s first and only Universal Studios theme park opening on Sentosas Resorts World, now that ticket prices have been revealed. Sale of tickets shouldnt be too far on the horizon with Resorts World Sentosa announcing on Wednesday its one-day, two-day and express pass ticket prices that range from S$32 to S$118 to access all attractions. With the announcement of the Universal Studios ticket prices, is the price reasonable to draw people there?
Answer: I think the prize is quite high for a start. Not everyone can afford the proposal prize to draw more people there. My suggestion is If can consider a reasonable family package of four or five people's ticket prize may be better. I think the Ticket's prize between $50 & $25 for Adult and Child is good and reasonable than as compare to the current proposal prizes at $66 for Adult and $48 for child.

Let us compare these two cities… Environment: Singapore is a clean and green city and has been able to control any pollution. Hong Kong on the other hand is regularly polluted. Singapore has wide spaces and pathways while Hong Kong’s buildings are squeezed together and suffers from overcrowding. 1 point for Singapore… Business/economy: Both places are good for starting businesses, and I remembered an article which rate Singapore as the no.1 Asian country to start a business while Hong Kong is no.4. The economy of both countries are very strong and regularly ranks at the top, Hong Kong and Singapore are also very well known port cities and also has world class airports in Chep Lap Kok and Changi airport, so I’ll give it a tie… tie…. Attractions: Singapore has Orchard Road, Hong Kong has Kowloon. Singapore has a good nightlife in Clarke Quay, Hong Kong too has a great nightlife. Hong Kong has two world-class theme parks in Ocean Park and Disneyland. Singapore on the other hand, is coming out with two Integrated Resorts in Marina Bay and Sentosa. Not forgetting the F1 race coming out next year for Singapore. Hong Kong has better nature attractions for sure, with many mountains and parks with wide biodiversity, while Singapore only has MacRitchie reservoir. Singapore on the other hand, has a world class zoo… it’s a tie AGAIN!!! so…the winner is….SINGAPORE!!! What do you think about this? If you want to add in your comments feel free to do so…

Sentosa Resort World & its effect on Malaysia Tourism?

During the past few days, the media is full of reports on Resort World at Sentosa to be built & operated by Genting International & Star Cruises consortium which promises attractions including 22 movie-based rides at Universal Studios Singapore. The S$5.2 billion integrated resort with casino facility is sited on a 49 ha land located at Sentosa which will be completed & open to the public by year 2010 - only 2 years away. There is no denying that this will have an big impact on our Malaysian tourism industry. Surely tourists all over the world will make Singapore their first holiday destination over Malaysia. So what is Malaysia Tourism Board going to do to with this fierce competition? Right now, how serious this is going to affect us is anybody’s guess. But one thing’s for sure, we have to do something to prevent Singapore from draining away our tourism revenue. Oops! 2010 is 4year away, not 2 years! Spore since independence, has always been one step ahead of Malaysia. A world class country with excellent economic growth, good infrastructure, lowest crime rate, an extensive transport system, worlds best airport for 12 consecutive years (or is it 13, I lost count - surely that is a record?)...the list goes on. Set up Resort World Sentosa to compete with Macaus casinos, HK Disneyland & I thought it is a brillant idea. Will certainly attract tourists from China, US, even the Hongkies. Would be interesting to see how Genting will fare, come year 2010. Had to agree with chickencurry & fishball, Well done Singapore! One solution that I can think of - While tourists will come in doves to Spore, Malaysia should heavily promote some holiday packages to attract them too - you know, something like, "Hey!, while in Spore, why not hop over to Malaysia? This is what Malaysia has to offer ... blah, blah. Spend 3D/2N there. Take advantage of cheaper exchange rate". Something along that line

Do you think there are double standards when it comes to smoking in the IRs?

With the no-smoking ban enforced in all indoor areas in Singapore, it seems there is an exception to the rule. The National Environment Agency has allowed smoking with the gambling halls at Resorts World Sentosa as well as the upcoming Marina Bay Sands. Whats your reaction? As a smoker or non-smoker, do you think this is fair?
Answer: yes i think it is a double standard, i like casino's and like roulette, yet ever tried to get to a table when especially chinese are playing, their passions are gambling and smoking, so to be surrounded by chain smoking people where the table is engulfed in a cloud of smoke means the fun stops. Anyone who is a frequent casino visitor where many chinese go will know this. If they want to smoke, no problem , but why allow anyone to impede the pleasure of others, unless the strategy is to encourage the heavy gamblers ( again usually chinese ) to the tables. Europeans are generally less addicted so spend less money. Compromise ? why not have a separate room for smokers who want to gamble, how much does a wall cost ?? This way everyone is happy and the casino can make more money. Allowing smoking would stop me and some of my friends going to the casino.

Do you think it’s too expensive to drive to Sentosa with the cost of vehicle entry increased to S$7 and why?

SenDentosa Development Corporation (SDC) has revised its pricing strategy for vehicles entering the island in an attempt to encourage more to use public transport. This is aimed at improving traffic conditions in view of the opening of Resorts World Sentosa later this month. Private vehicles entering Sentosa from January 18 will pay a charge, which varies according to the time and day. For example, it will cost S$6 to enter the island between 7am and just before noon on weekdays. On weekends and public holidays, it will cost S$7between 7am and 7pm. Currently, each private vehicle is charged S$2 and each passenger in the vehicle must pay an additional S$2 when entering Sentosa. Do you think it’s too expensive to drive to Sentosa with the cost of vehicle entry increased to S$7 and why?
Answer: Just to have a nice Sunday family picnic with small young kids, packed foods, picnic baskets, and many more necessities. And to travel from Woodlands to Sentosa by bus/mrt so as to avoid the cost of vehicle entry of $7..??? It sure is an expensive attempt to encourage visitors to use public transport, painstakingly!! Aim ------->> improve traffic conditions in the island. With the increased of vehicle entry charges soon, Singaporeans in such scenario like above, would just opt for East Coast Beach, Changi Beach, or Pasir Pis Beach instead of Sentosa (so SDC has nothing to worry in reaching the aim). To drive their cars (packed with picnic "necessities") to these beaches definately has no vehicle entry charges imposed on them. Definately no charges for individuals too! Here's a little suggestion: Why not keep the vehicle entry charges the same ($2)? So we won't grumble and whine and complain...so there won't be a decline in visitors' flow. Or raise it up to $7, and people will stop coming, and SDC shall lose (1) vehicle entry charges alongside with (2) passengers in-vehicle charges ($2 each) The reason as "to improve traffic conditions" is getting lamer. The same was given back then in cases of More ERP Gantries and Increased In ERP Charges. Well, whatever answers/views each of us voiced out, proposals such as this will be implicated eventually. So much for Q n A.... And thus this question ---> Are we really heard?

Is it justifiable for taxi operators to impose a surcharge on Resorts World Sentosa visitors and why?

Taking a cab from Resorts World Sentosa (RWS) will soon become more expensive. Come 6am, Friday morning, ComfortDelGro will impose a S$3 location surcharge for all taxi trips starting from the integrated resort. The taxi operator said this is to cater to the throngs of people who are expected to visit RWS this weekend, when the casino and theme park open for business. Is it justifiable for taxi operators to impose surcharge to cater to the expected high increase in demand for taxis during the RWS opening?
Answer: Totally unfair. Since it is to cater the throngs of people who will in return benefit the throngs of taxis there, there is no strong reason for them to impose a S$3 location surcharge. If this is a desolate location where imposing such a surcharge is required to compensate the loss of time and other opportunities is justifiable. In the past, where Taxis impose a surcharge at the airport, people understand that there is some distance there and also lull periods where Taxis drivers have to wait a while before having any passenger(s). P.S. We can also don't take ComfortDelGro taxis. At least we can still chose what kind of taxis we take.
