Okay. Im really kinda paranoid. But I know logically there is nothing to really worry about. I have a family member that has Hep C. They had once cut themselves doing dishes before and then bleached the soapy water. Would it still be safe for me to eat off her dishes because you I dont think you can kill Hep C with bleach.
Answer: Yes. You can't get hep c from shared eating/cooking utensils. The bleach will kill the virus.

If HIV and Hepatitis C are blood borne diseases how many people develop them?
If both the above are blood borne diseases that means anyones blood that comes into contact with some one elses blood will definatley develop hepatitis c or hiv sometime during their life as you have someone elses blood in your blood stream, Why are so many people discarding the fact you will develop these diseases this way?
Answer: People are discarding it because you CANNOT develop HIV or Hep C this way. It is true that HIV and Hep C are transmitted through blood. But they DO NOT just appear out of nowhere! HIV and Hep C do not develop just due to blood mixing. One person MUST have HIV or Hep C for the other person to get it from their blood mixing. If neither person has HIV or Hep C to begin with, neither will develop the disease years later due to the blood mixing. As you have been told many times, all donated blood is tested for HIV and Hep C. Infected blood is destroyed. Just because you have someone else's blood in your body, it does not mean that you will develop HIV or Hep C at some time in the future because you have someone else's blood in your body. One person MUST have HIV for the other person to get infected by it!
How can we explain this so that you will understand it and stop asking this question?

what are the chances of clearing Hep. C. when it has reached the millions in your blood count?
my boyfriend has Hep C. his blood count is now in the millions, we are only 20 years old, I get tested regularly but do not have it, my question is, what are the chances treatment will work for him? He starts July 6th, he has only had it for less than a year and its already hit the millions? is that normal? I would rather people that have or have had Hep. C answer my question because I am sick of people constantly bashing the fact that he has it.
Answer: There are several different strains (genotypes) of Hep C. Some strains respond to treatment better than others, and everyone responds to medications and illnesses in different ways. Depending on the strain of Hep C he has, he will most likely have to undergo treatment for 6 months or a year. I wish I could give you more definite information, but there is really no way to tell for sure how successful the treatment will be.
Of course, it is very important that he follows his specialist's instructions regarding treatment.

3 part question. What does it feel like to: a) break a leg, b) cough up blood, c)have serious blood loss?
I have to play a part in a play that required me to fake coughing up blood, break my leg, and get glass stuck in my back(which causes the major blood loss). As I have never broken anything nor bled too much, I am at a loss as to how to fake them. Any help would be greatly appreciated!
Answer: i can only help with the leg thing. it hurts like someone is squeezing as hard as they can on your leg and it feels sooo heavy lkie its not your own leg and you cant walk.

My platlet count is low because of lupus. When I acquired hep C because of a blood transfusion, my results came back as chronic hep C. One thing the blood tests showed was low platlet count. Could the lupus affect the results?

I was starting an IV and had the tip of the glove off 1 finger because the vein was difficult to feel. Then when drawing blood the IV bled more than expected. I got a small amount of blood on my arms (intact skin) and a small amount on the exposed finger with a healing hangnail. what are the chances of contracting Hepatitis C from that exposure. as soon as I realized it was on my skin, I cleaned up the IV once secured and washed my arms/hands very thoroughly.

I have been told that donor blood for transfusions started testing after 1992. But Dr. thinks i may have gotten Hepatitis C from transfusion in 1995! I do not & never have used IV Drugs. How many documented cases has there been of HIV/Hep C via blood transfusions since testing began for in the 80-90s. Im having a hard time finding information/research on this. Thanks.
Answer: There hasn't been a documented cases of transmission via the blood supply since testing began in about 1985/6 for HIV (at least in Canada, not sure about the US).
The risk is very low now:
HIV - about 1 in 1.6 million with current testing
For Hep C:
HCV - The risk of HCV transmission through blood transfusion was reduced remarkably after the implementation of blood donor testing for HCV in 1990. The risk was estimated to be 1 in 225,000 donations between 1987 and 1996 based on an incidence window period model. The window period yielded with HCV nucleic acid amplification testing (HCV NAT) is shorter than that from the HCV antibody test. In Canada, the implementation of HCV NAT on pools of 24 samples in 1999 further reduced the risk of HCV transmission through transfusion.

Answer: No...you should have what is called a Baseline right now...to make sure you are not carrying the virus already... then after the baseline another blood test will be required in 4-6 weeks...Hep 'C' can remain dormant in your body for years. If hepatitis c is a "blood to blood" contact disease/virus does everyone get it?
The question is if hepatitis c is blood to blood contact disease does that mean that everyone that has been in contact with someone elses blood will later in life develop hep c. The most common victims could be athletes in blood sports such as boxing, wrestling, others will be blood transfusion patients. What exactly will be the outcome in life?
Answer: Your thinking is flawed. To assume that everyone who has contacted another person's blood will at some point develop hepatitis C is absurd. This requires that at least half the population have hepatitis C and that's not just not so.
Donors are tested and blood is screened. Those with a history of hep C after the age of 10 or a positive hepatitis test cannot donate.
You said it yourself. "hepatitis c is blood to blood contact disease". Infected blood has to have access to an uninfected person's blood stream.
