Photography Portfolio Interview! Seriously help !?
So I had an interview with my dream school in Visual Communications course and I think I wanna major in Photography.Basically,this interview is about selecting students for a DPA(Direct School Admission) before their O Levels and secure the position before even taking O levels.... SO ...I had an interview with them and showed them my PHOTOGRAPHY portfolio AND WHAT THEY SAID WAS THAT I HAVE "NO FOCUS" in my work WHICH IS A PROBLEM CAUSE I COULDNT FIGURE OUT WHAT THEY MEANT BY THERES NO FOCUS IN MY PORTFOLIO? I think the interview went horribly wrong because of my portfolio.I happened to tell them the stories behind my pictures.I dont understand why theres no focus... ALSO,I want to be a fashion/editorial/glamour photographer in the future. Im from Singapore. & IIM NOT APPLYING AT NAFA OR LA SALLE because its too costly.Im applying for Temasek Poly(it is a college)
Answer: When they said you lack focus, that meant that the subject of your work was lacking focus, not you per se. When you take a picture, you have to try and convey what you are thinking at that moment in time and not just shoot the pic for sake of taking a photo.
A picture is worth a thousand word and doesn't need any explanation. So when the person looks at the picture, he will understand what you were trying to convey without uttering anything. If the person looks at your photos and says 'wow or 'ahhh' , then you got your message across.
Also, you don't need a ton of phtos. Put the black and whites at the front and the colored ones towards the end. Just a tip especially, if they are pictures of modelling.

I would like to apply for a Biomedical Diploma thru Direct Poly Admission.?
One of the requirements is to write why you would want this course. If I am not wrong, the essay has to be about 600 words long. I want to do this course as being in the medical line has been my life-long dream and I come from a family of doctors. What should I write about for the essay? Who has got through using Direct Poly Admission last year or pervious years?
I would like to know if Temasek Poly or Ngee Ann Poly Offers Direct Poly Admission (DPA) For Veterinary Tech or veterinary bioscience? If so, has anyoneof you actually got through using DPA for either for this courses? Please answer my question asap! :) Oh yea! Let me know what were some of the things you used to get in through DPA!

Answer: Not sure about TP, but Ngee Ann poly does offer DPA for veterinary bioscience. I got through DPA but not into veterinary bioscience. During round 1, it includes a write-up on the course of your choice. Write as passionately as possible for the course. Depending on your answer, they will decide whether or not to take you to stage 2, which is the interview. Some of the items i bought during my interview was my report book and testimonial from my teacher. It would be good to bring along any certificates of enrichment programs you have attended. And lastly, answer as truthfully as you can. No need for any preparation of what they will ask, after all, the answers that you are able to come up with on the spot are the most truthful ones. Hi, there.
Im currently a sec 4 student and am planning to apply for the Direct Poly Admission (DPA).
ANDAND, DPAs application will be closing tomorrow, 14 July, 4pm.
Right now, Im pretty sure that Id want to take up a business related course upon my graduation.
But I just couldnt make up my mind of which poly to choose.
Oh yea, Im considering either Ngee Ann Polytechnic(NP) or Singapore Polytechnic(SP), since they are the nearest to my house.
I need your views/opinions on which poly to choose..SP or NP?..
Btw,
im considering the following few courses:
SP;
-Business Administration (Marketing Management);
-Business Administration (International Business and Trade);
-Business Information Technology
NP;
-Business Studies;
-Business Information Technology;
-International Business;

Answer: well, the bigger questions would be
- what would you want to do with that business diploma after graduation?
- are u planning on furthering your studies after that ? (degree, masters, etc)
- what kind of skills are you looking to acquire in the 3 years in poly?
also checkout the websites to see what are the specs for the diplomas. Try and do as general a diploma as you can (Without specializations like marketing or hospitality etc), u can specialize if you decide to further your studies later on. Specializing at the poly level will limit your options in future (in terms of both career prospects n further studies)
ermm.. that's about it i guess, i really don't know how to advise any further since i don't really know stuff like your academic calibre, future career ambitions etc. but well, good luck anyways!! 8)
