WAAAIIIT! Hear me out!
You need a strengh of 8 to weild the Anti- Materila Rifle, and this can be achived with the weapon handling perk (+2 to strengh) and a strengh implant
You dont need any perception at all for a sniper. None at all. You just need ede. The reason I have it 5 is because WITH THE IMPLANT, you can get a perception of 6. This means you can still have the brilliant perks such as sniper and better criticals(?)
Endurance is a "drainer" skill. There is 2 "Drainer" skills. but give this as many remaining points as you want. I gave it 5. (ps. Endurance is HEALTH HEALTH HEALTH and nothing much ealse, so how much health u want? NONE, coz ur sniping. Endurance also affects the amount of implants you get. MAKE SURE YOU GET THE HEALTH REGEN, AND THE OTHER NON SPECIAL ONE! Then put the others 3 implants luck, perception and strengh
Charisma- No, this is not a drainer perk. This is a "put it as low as you can and an implant and forget about it". It affects batering, speech and if it is on ten (who puts....??) you companions deal a lousy 50% more damage. Its not as good as it seems. Anyways if you dont put it on ten they deal only like 10% more at 8 CHA, and its not worth it. Dont implant it.
Intellegence. I gave it a 6. You only need to boost some skills to 90+ and bang a few on medicene (sooo need medipacs) but intellegence is not a force to be rekoned with.
Fun fact- A guns skill on 100 means x2 the damage!
Agilty- Omg. Yes. Agilty affects how much vats you can have (how many shots u fire before it is used up) for cheeky little no scopes or paniky panik pants. It also increases ya guns and sneak= vital.
Put an implant if you have 6 endurance or higher, not 5.
Luck-
Forget about Money. If You have high luck. With luck on 9 or ten, you can win 10,000 bottle caps in less than 10 mins. It also affects you critical hits wich is VITAL. And plus, it adds a lot onto every skill ya have. Best speical in the game.
Skills-
Guns- Yes, 100%, twice the damage, twice the fun. And is vital.
Lockpick- No, dont touch It. I will explain in a moment.
Enegy weapons- Not as vital as guns but heck yes.
Sneak- Sniping is all about sneaking and sneak criticals, V I T A L
Repair- Yes, Custom ammo and repairing guns is not a hastle anymore.
Medicine- put ya leftovers in here. And buy tons of stim packs. This is good since you get more health back. Need it anyways but near vital for high endurance peeps.
Ok, so why did I say dont put lockpick in? I know you guys want the gobi, but after the nerf it is pretty much the same powerfullness as the sniper rifle, but it CANT be silenced. And with the wild watsteland perk you get a kick ass sniper called the YCS/186 wich is better than the AMR.
So basically its 1 sniper rifle vs every enrgy weapon in the game regardless of if there a sniper at all! Gee, thats a tough one.
Perks- I seriously cannot be bothered typing these up. Only waste ya special enchancing +1 perks if you really
(1) Traits: I always get BUILT TO DESTROY and GOOD NATURED. Here is why: Built to destroy makes weapons decay faster but not by much, and the +3% crits really is good, especially when it is added on top of other crit perks. Good natured, while it lowers all weapon skills by 5, usually youll be focusing only on 1-2 weapon skills in the game (so youll effectively be getting 5 pts in 5 stats and losing 5 pts in 1-2 stats).
Ok, I can be bothered typing up the bloody perks coz this is THE BEST GUIDE IN THE WORLD?

3) Perks: Absolute Musts would be educated, commando (L8 available), Sniper (L12 avail.), Better Crits (L16?), Laser Commander (L22) if you are doing energy weps. If you get your survival skill up, then get entomologist and hunter. Also, I would suggest getting rapid reload, grim reaper spirit, finesse, jury rig, and (if you plan on starting with 5-6 str, get weapon handling later on so you can effectively equip the best sniper weapons).

Would hunters and guides use scouting reports?
Its just a tought but since I go out in the wilds of Nevada to gather camping and hiking information for my blog, I also observe wildlife in the areas I go into.
I was wondering if hunters or guides might be interested in fairly detailed scouting reports and if this would be something they would be willing to "subscribe" to for a small annual fee?
Answer: Its a good idea you have but I think youd have to be recognized in some way before they would pay for that. Also youd have to be pretty good ay determining rack size such as B&C point scores etc. As a hunter of over 25 years I often talk to the rural mailmen in my area and also the game wardens and many farmers...these people are out and about seeing wildlife every day.
But who knows with as popular as hunting is becoming you may find some people who would pay you for your reports...no harm in trying....good luck.

New books deliver some great summer reading
As usual, there are dozens of new outstanding natural history books that are well worth your attention. This year, however, many of these books are very serious –reflecting our current national and world problems.

Im doing a project on the novel A Salty Peice of Land by Jimmy Buffett, and I need ten items for a project that describe the novel, its kinda hard :/
Heres a summary of the novel.
A Salty Piece of Land brings back the character of Tully Mars from Jimmy Buffetts previous novel, Tales from Margaritaville. Tully is a Wyoming cowboy on the lam. The ranch where he lives and works has been converted to a poodle ranch run by a universally hated woman by the name of Thelma Barston. After Tully throws a massage table through her plate glass window, she uses her political connections to trump up charges and have a warrant issued for his arrest. Tully takes his faithful steed, Mr. Twain, and decides he wants to see the ocean. With bounty hunters on his trail, this begins a series of adventures for him that will take him to the Alabama coast, Key West, Mexico, Belize, Cuba, and the Bahamas.
Tully is a kind soul, hard worker, and a quick learner. He befriends a shrimp boat captain named Captain Kirk who teaches him his first lessons about the ways of the sea and transports him and Mr. Twain to a remote part of the Yucatan peninsula called Punta Margarita. He also meets and begins a budding friendship with a musician/treasure hunter/pilot named Willie Singer. Tully lands a job as a fly-fishing guide at the Lost Boys fishing camp in Punta Margarita. Its run by a man named Bucky Norman who leases the land from the manager of a country western singer named Tex Sex. The other fly-fishing guide is a Mayan shaman, Ix-Nay. In the remote outpost of Punta Margarita, Tully feels like he can leave his past behind and try to figure out where his new life will lead him. On a trip to the Mayan ruins at Tulum, hes stranded when he totals a Jeep. While waking a from a ganja-induced dream on the beach there, he sees a beautiful schooner coming into the bay. Its captain is 101-year old Cleopatra Highbourne, and shes on a mission to find a fresnel lens for a lighthouse she wants to refurbish on the Bahamian island of Cayo Loco, the salty piece of land of the books title. Its an endeavor that will eventually involve Tully and his friends, but first he must make a trip to Belize to find a Land Rover to replace the Jeep. A man on the run from the law with a fake passport and bounty hunters in pursuit must be careful. Which is how Tully ended up in the middle of a wild spring break party with a couple hot college girls.
Thats a quick outline to the plot, although the plot is not that important. It serves as the vehicle to further the adventures of Tully and his new-found friends. Some of the chapters in this novel are letters from Willie Singer as he searches for a fresnel lens while island hopping his way across the south Pacific in a seaplane. Each adventure is just plain fun as Tully finds out whats important to his life, and that answer is invariably a sense of ethics, a lot of fun, and good friends you can count on anytime. It helps that a lot of these friends are very wealthy and can come to the rescue at the drop of a hat. Tully continues to find like-minded people, often making instant connections as if they share the same karma. Karma and mysticism play a recurring role in A Salty Piece of Land, from his fathers friend and Indian medicine man, Johnny Red Dust, to Ix-Nay the Mayan shaman, to an odd religion on a forgotten South Sea island.
A Salty Piece of Land is a fun ride through Jimmy Buffetts idea of paradise, and you get the sense its a place hes visited often. Many of his own loves, flying, sailing, and fishing, are featured prominently in the novel. Its a world where drink, ganja, and fun are pleasant additions if not done to excess. Its also a place where the dark forces of greed, corpocracy, and pollution threaten paradise. A disdain for tourists and resorts and an affection for indigenous people whove learned to live off the land runs strong through the novel. Even Cuban baseball, played for pride instead of greedy contracts, plays a role.
This is not a literary novel and A Salty Piece of Land has no pretensions that it is. There will undoubtedly be those readers put off by its lack of any real drama or suspense. At times its predictable, but its a comforting predictability at that. You know the good guys will win, the friends will be there in the time of need, and all surprises will eventually be pleasant ones. That doesnt distract from the enjoyment of the novel, but adds to it instead. Jimmy Buffetts prose easily transports the reader to the different settings in his paradise. I dont fish, Ive never sailed a schooner across the Caribbean, or flown a plane. By the end of this novel, I wanted to do all three. Therein lies the charm of this book: its easy access to warmth and beauty of many types

Answer: How about a schooner, lighthouse, seaplane, fly-fishing rod (all miniatures like from a craft store), a miniature island (just cut out a small roundish shape from a piece of cardboard and glue sand on it with maybe a palm tree), a stick with feathers for the Indian Medicine Man, a passport (just make a small cardboard replica), and maybe cowboy boots and/or hat?

Who else likes Warriors by Erin Hunter?
I first found out about these books by accident, just browsing through a bookshop and picking up a book with an interesting cover. That was Into the Wild. Then I ordered the next two, Fire and Ice, and Forest of Secrets, and I was addicted. I now have all of the Original Series, all of the New Prophecy series, along with the Field Guide: Secrets of the Clans, Firestars Quest, The Lost Warrior and Warriors Refuge. Im on my way to getting all the Warriors books there are, and I cant wait for the Power of Three.
If you like or love this series, why? I love it because I love animals, and the world of the Clans is just so exciting yet orderly, and you are drawn into their world. The characters, even some of the more evil ones (Tigerstar, Hawkfrost, Mudclaw) all have amazing personalities. The storylines are so clever, and sometimes surprising.
All the emotions - ambition, fear, pride, honour, anger, determination - make the stories so good to read. They are believable yet incredible.

A lot of my friends were reading Warriors, so I decided to try them too. I read Into the Wild, and soon I was hooked.
Alas, I don't have many of the books, though I have read every single one. I own Into the Wild, Fire and Ice, Midnight, Twilight, The Sight, Dark River, Firestar's Quest, and Secrets of the Clans.

Chapter 1 - Mighty Hunter
The noise of bowstring being shot constantly rang in her ears. Her arms screamed at the pain that shot through. Men and women ran for cover behind her, some thanking her for the protection (To the left! Near the blacksmith!) A voice rumbled inside her head. She turned towards it to see more men charging after her. The sky filled with pitch black, as the moon and stars refused to come out from the clouds. But she was an elf of the night. (Pirates. Filthy, dirty pirates.) Her body moved quickly than her mind as she let loose each arrow. Silently, men fell into the dirt. A bright light shone in the distance. She gasped, "Fire!" A larged black wolf, dark as night, dashed towards it. His eyes glowed fierced yellow like the wild, licking flames. She felt a soft fur glide under her arms. (We must go to it.) It commanded. She responded, jumping onto the dark pantar, who was big as a horse. He lept forward, following the dog. Men jumped out and ran towards them. They cried their battlecry as they charged. She quickly brought out her blades. She sliced away the pirates who interfered. Some were nearly beheaded. Some managed to get her, but could not pierced her thick leather armor. Her long dark, braided green hair loosened from the battle as it came down on her face. She suddenly heard bones crushed. She looked down to see a man in the cats mouth. Looking away quickly, she fought the ones that came. The massed numbers finally began to dwindle down to a few. The remaining men soon feared for their lives as they fleed. She felt content with herself.
(You are not yet finish!) Shouted the deep rumbling voice. She turned towards the fire. "Do you sense anyone inside?" She shouted over the roaring flames. (I-.) Before he could continue, a man ran up to them. Tears filled in his eyes. "Please! Help me, my wife and my son is in there." He pulled onto her legs. "I beg of you!"
Her stomach jumped to her throat. But she did not let it show on her face, she cannot let this man lose hope. She slid off the beast of burdan, and turned to the man. She rested her hand on his shoulder. "I promise, just get everyone else to safety!" "Thank you, elf!" he sobbed. She grabbed her bow and arrows. She charged towards the large burning building "Soot! Search and lead me to them!" She shouted. Soon the large black wolf leaped through the front door and she did the same. Once she got inside, the air was thick. She swiftly pulled out a cloth and tied it over her mouth. Cold sweat went down her face. Her light purple skin reflected orange and red from the fire. (Second floor!) He roared in her head. Soot darted to the steps and she followed. She could hardly see five feet in front of her, she used Soot to guide her. Flames licked at her feet as she walked up the steps, creaking louder each time. She felt her mind fall into a haze, the smoke was affecting her. "Please, Soot, hurry up." She wheezed. Soot whined and began to crawl to the back corner. She did the same, and then she shouted, "Hello? Is anyone there?" All she heard was the roaring fire. Her heart began to beat wildly as the thoughts of them burning to death. When she suddenly heard a child cry out. Soot immediately went to a corner and she followed. "Get away from me you beast!" shouted a woman.

Answer: I rarely read all of what people write on here because it's usually boring and full of mistakes. Your story has some mistakes but I really enjoyed reading what you wrote. I tried to stop reading it but it grabbed me back because I wanted to know what was going to happen next. Any good story should do that to its reader. I just noticed you can hunt wild boar in my state all year around. I have a .243. Would that work?
I am a very small, slightly built man. I dont like recoil. I hunt deer with an ancient .243 Winchester Model 70 (Actually Labeled Sears Model 53.) My Dad bought it, and decided it "was too weak," and later bought a .30-06. My bigger, stronger brother got the .30-06 when Dad died. I got the .243.
I have shot two deer with it, in Angeles National Forest. (I have a friend who is a Ranger, and he locates me the spot---I am myself not much of a natural hunter.)
But I have been looking at the Hunting Regulations. I notice here in California, you can hunt Wild Boar all year around. You simply need a pig tag. And unlike the Deer Tag system in California where you can only hunt in a certain country sized area, you can hunt wild boar anywhere you want. And there are lots of guides, for people like me with no natural hunting ability.
So my question is, would a .243 work on wild boar? I am recoil sensitive, and anything much larger would be sort of out of the question for me. Also, I already have a .243, and I dont want to spend more money on another gun. I also inherited a .30-30, but that kicks like a mule,nearly knocks me down, and has no scope, so I cant hit anything with it past about 40 yards (I am not that great a shot, particularly with open sights.)
Answer: I used to hunt with 6 mm Remington, which is only a couple of hundred fps faster. I gave up on it for the occasional bullet failure, but it was pretty close to being satisfactory. If you're careful in selecting your shots and use a premium 100 grain bullet that won't fall apart too soon, you'll be fine at least nine times out of ten. If you were going to be a bit more serious about it, I'd suggest one of the 6.5 or 7 mm non-magnum cartridges, but it sounds like it wouldn't be worth it for you to buy a new rifle.

Could you help me plan a hunting trip?
I am going on a bow hunt on July 7th for wild hog in north florida. I was wondering, could you help me prepare for it, I am a first time hunter so I dont know if I have everything I need for the trip, here is my current list of supplies:
1)"Indian Stalker" bow with a draw weight of 50 pounds (1).

Answer: 50 lbs is plenty!! It will pass thru just fine. The only thing you might find is that all the different broad heads at different weights will hit different zeros. If you cant buy a full set of broad heads that match then just practice with each weight. Shoot field points that are the same weight as your hunting tips. Save your blades for super sharp cutting for quick clean kills. Or sharpen them the best you can after a shot or two at a target. I use Gold Tips 5575 and they are as good as any of that class. Keep the mask and gloves but practice with them on. Practice, practice, practice. But stop shooting when you start missing. Its hot so shoot hot. You got sweaty hands? Shoot sweaty. Drink water and Gatorade on your hunt. It will keep you sharp.
The golden moment that you take your shot, freeze your body at the moment of release. Pretend you are a tree after the arrow is gone. Dont even lower the bow. You can even practice this at your target. If you miss or he sees you moving, even a good hit, he'll run for miles. Wait til he goes nite-nite to move. Get the next arrow ready only when he is looking away. I got a grizzly bear and a black bear with my bow. Boar is similar that he will mostly move away from the shot or look for the threat. So freeze. Be the tree. You can watch where he goes to follow and track blood trails.

The relationships between characters within the following texts, “The Man who Laughs at Lions” by Bryce Walton and Joanne Harris who wrote “Faith and Hope go Shopping”, undoubtedly express a fluent theme of respect. Walton utilises the analytical tools of the genre such as plot, setting and values of the main character; Frank McClinton, a hunter whose respect, for the African jungle, or lack of, is non existent. Harris; however, illustrates the theme of respect between the two characters; Hope and Faith as a strong bond that helps two elderly ladies escape from the chains of a nursing home into the “real world”. Both stories convey a clear theme that encompasses the issue of different respect between characters in an unlike and original way.
In the first place, the issue of respect, or lack of, is evidently shown through out the text; The Man who laughs at lions, as the main character; Frank McClinton, is introduced as a malicious and dominating hunter who has no respect for his surroundings, only himself and his wall of trophies. ‘He never gave a damn for anything but himself, his own power, his own glory.’ [Walton, 1982, Pg76]Through out the text, the obscene relationship between McClinton and the African Jungle can be described as man showing no respect, whatsoever, to beast. This is clearly shown as McClinton ventures into the wild with two guides; Mr Vanderveer and Gombi. ‘He hardly looked back or paused for a picture. He kept pushing and killing and leaving the carcasses black and fly-brown in the sun.’ [Walton, 1982, Pg77] This quote exactly describes the lack of respect, man shows to beast, opposed to the relationship beast shows to man.
The issue of respect that beast shows to man is at first non existent but then more of, a lack of, as the hell dogs get revenge. Through out the short story, by Harris, the African jungle does not have any chance to show Frank McClinton any respect due to the conspicuous feelings Frank has to the jungle. “Our safari hardly stopped for breath from that time until the disastrous finale. McClinton had incredible endurance fortified by a mad obsession for killing” [Walton, 1982, Pg77] At the end of the Text; The Man who laughs at Lions, the jungle finally gets its revenge as the hell dogs perpetuate the hunt for McClinton. ‘His clothes flew behind him in tatters. His body was a smear of mud formed of dust, sweat and blood’ [Walton, 1982, Pg81] Leaving Mr McClinton with no respect, at all, for the jungle which led to the hell dogs leaving him with physical and mental scars.
“You know, he got rid of all his hunting dogs. He stays away from dogs, but I never thought- and there was that funny business in Mexico. We were in a little café. Some dogs came in and went among the tables feeding on bits of shrimp and fish. Frank moved back. He turned pale. He backed clear to the door and ran out and kept running” [Walton, 1982, Pg82]
McClinton was a brute coward who throughout the text, showed no respect for his surroundings.
In contrast, respect among the characters Faith and Hope is warm and full hearted. “Hope pushes me around in my chair, and I direct her” [Harris, 2004, Pg2] Not only do they live day by day next to each other, but they fervently talk, gossip and bicker about the surrounding backdrop of the ever so mundane nursing home.
“I’m not saying it’s a bad place here. It’s just so ordinary not the comfortable ordinariness of home, with its familiar grime and clutter, but that of waiting-rooms and hospitals, a pastel detergent place with a smell of air fresheners and distant bedpans.” [Harris, 2004, Pg2]
Faith and Hope share a strong and respectful bond as two friends, that helps two elderly ladies escape into the real world and live by rules of the older generation.
At the humdrum nursing home, the relationships between the staff and Hope and Faith can be related to that of a Younger generation to an older generation.
“There aren’t many books here, but the library van comes around every four weeks, and we send Lucy out to get us something nice. Lucy’s a college student on Work Experience, so she knows what to choose. Hope was furious when she wouldn’t let us have Lolita, though. Lucy thought it wouldn’t suit us.” [Harris, 2004, Pg3]
As the storyline, begins within the text, it is easy to tell that Hope and Faith are not exactly the favourites with either the staff or surrounding guest members. “They get that look- even the brighter ones- that nursery-nurse smile which says I know better. I know better because you’re old.” [Joanne Harris, 2004, Pg3] The lack of respect between the relationship of the staff and patients that epitomises young and old, not only enables the couple to escape but it gives Faith and Hope a chance to abide by their own rules, not the rules of the younger generation.
