Answer: Just because it WAS trading at $72, does NOT mean that it is undervalued. Trust me, if it was truly "undervalued" by $62, do you think that you are the only one to notice this? The company does not have the basic fundamentals to support a $72 price anymore. Is AIG also undervalued? Is General Motors? How about that Countywide stock???? With the recession the way it is and Vegas booking rates in the toilet, Vegas stocks are not a good investment for any term.

Do you think that Las Vegas Sands will go bankrupt?
I own some LVS stock that I bought at $40 and now the stock is under $2. I was thinking of buying more, because the price is so low, but then I started to think that this stock can become worthless. To anyone who is familiar with this stock, if I am looking long term, at least 2011, does this have a chance to at least get back to $20?
Answer: If I did my math correct, that is a 1,100% gain @ $20 from today's intraday trading.
A bit optimistic i would suggest.
Two years is would not be a long term investment in my view. Anything under 5 years is short term.
Long term to me is 15-20 years.

The stock is a speculative investment.
Anything can happen. I see it maybe for a trade but I would not put my life savings in a casino stock.

What should I do with Las Vegas Sands?
I recently bought LVS at $15 and its now in the $7 category with the company posting some items saying they are not looking to good. I am ok with long term investments, but not sure when to call your losses. Its about half the price I got it for right now. Is it a good idea to wait out the economy, when it rises so will LVS? Well you prob bought it AFTER it ran up what 300%? The investment rule is NEVER chase returns. Odds are one will lose money when chasing returns.
There is concern that LVS will not be able to raise capital they need. This was true BEFORE the stock had that big short covering surge lately.
Who is going to lend to them?
What are the odds of that? (slight pun intended)
I couldn't tell you what is going to happen. I typically like to buy puts in this market if I dare get an insane moment and go long - which has been very rare for the last 2 years.
You could always sell covered calls. If you are not familiar with options, then I'd see someone who is an expert to assist.

Answer: It's hard to tell. The majority owner is obviously determined to see it succeed by the fact of his pumping nearly a billion of his own money into the company since last Oct.
The main problem is they have been in a building and expansion frenzy over the last 3-5 years. When the price of fuel skyrocketed and the economy tanked their expenses greatly outstripped their income. The economy in LV in general is down as less people are traveling there for what is usually a pretty expensive vacation.
LVS seems to be helmed by capable folks but in this economy and the sheer amount of debt they owe? Who knows for sure?

Answer: I live in Las Vegas, and I have heard that the Sands Corporation, is having financial difficulties, because of stocks going down and stuff like that. Nevertheless, the Venetian/ Palazzo, would not be closed down. If the Sands corp, filed bankruptcy, another property would buy the property. I have seen it happen before, with the Aladdin, which was purchased by Planet Hollywood. Vegas, closes down old hotels, and implodes them. They wouldn't do anything to the new ones.

What sort of pixie dust is holding up Las Vegas Sandss stock (LVS)?
The have so much debt, it would take 3 years to pay even if they had no other expenses, their net tangible assets is SHRINKING, their main source of income is LOANS (receiving, not making).
This is a Casino stock with a PE of 240+. How is that possible in this investing environment? What am I missing?
Actually, I think LVS is an awful stock to hold at its current price, but the market doesnt seem to fully agree with me.
I bought put options in December (when it was over $100) and made some money when in went down in January. I am tempted to buy more puts, but now that it is lower there is more risk to it going higher (and then I would lose money). If it goes above $85, I will look for it to drop below $80 again.
I am just wondering if there is something in the stocks future that people are banking on that could pop it to the upside.
tryptofan, I dont think the stock is doing well, but I am surprised that it is not doing even worse. Even at $70, I dont see any reason to hold it long term. Maybe people are just playing the bounce (nothing goes down every week).
Answer: I think what you're seeing here in the past week or so is just a lot of people covering their losses. They've got a bottom they've now tested twice at $70, but if you look at the 50/200 EMA you'll see they're still in the red. I think you are being overly optimistic if you think this stock is really doing well.

will their stock reach at least $10 anytime soon. I think their 1 yr target is close to $15 or so. I wanted to invest $10K for the next 3 months and wanted a 30% return.
Answer: Honey if we knew that we would do it ourselves. However the outlook doesn't look good for the next year. By changing presidents and CEO that is not a good sign. Then giving the new guy $2 million salary, I wouldn't invest in that company. Adelson only proved himself in good times ... he doesn't seem to understand bad times. A lot of disgruntled employees too. I know that for a fact. He is out of touch with reality. You do what you want with your money but I wouldn't invest if I were you.

Answer: It depends how it goes, Las Vegas has been hit hard with the recession and you should be lucky to get a job interview with Las Vegas Sands Corp. If the interview last longer than a few minutes or half an hour than you are likely to be a candidate for the job and they might call you for a second interview but if it just lasts for a few minutes than they won't hire you.

Sands Convention hall Las Vegas walking distance at Embassy Suites, or is hotel at the large convention hal/?
I have a trade show at the Sands Convention Center but difficulties with walking long distance. It was told that Embassy Suites was besides the Sands Convention hall but someone told me it is at the large convention hall north at las Vegas? Can someone help me here or what hotel (besides Venetian - too expensive) is a good situation for me? Thanks a lot!!! :-)
Answer: Embassy Suites is about 2/3 mile. One of the Harrah's hotels (either Harrah's or Imperial Palace is a nearby inexpensive option. The walk is a lot less than 2/3 mile and there are escalators and moving walkways to help.
