Hey I am 18 years old and I am in the ACE curriculum, anyone have any learning problems too?
I have been in the school since I was in 8th grade, since then I feel as if they have not taught me nearly everything I need to know. I was told by them that I wld be smarter than anyone in public School at my grade, and then they gave me a test. I did the test and they said I was behind in my work. I was in 8th grade doin 5th grade work. I know they falsified my results yet I was ignored. I failed me 12th grade year because of this. They taugh barely any real science. Just how God created animals and how they have no emotions, etc. The PACE books are a joke. They teach nothing , and scoring your own work is the dumbest thing ever.I really just want to drop out and get a GED, but I am afraid to do that since my parents are too ignorant to listen. Does anyone know how to fix this?
Answer: I am familiar with this curriculum and only recommend it to students who are highly motivated and independent learners. I agree the PACEs are very difficult to use. You are wasting your time in there. Since you are 18 the best thing to do is to go to a community college and get your GED.
You could go to a high school and get tested, but since you don't have high school credits, you may have to go the whole four years. It may be good for you just to go talk to someone at the nearest high school and see if you can come in as a junior or senior.
If you can't get in a regular high school, tell your parents you are quitting, and that you will get your GED. They may not understand, but if you don't get out now you will still be in high school when you are 21.

What is the best way to learn how to make the type of cakes you see in Ace of Cakes"?
I LOVE the show Ace of Cakes and I really want to learn how to make cakes like that. I found some kits and stuff in Hobby Lobby and I ALMOST got one of them, but I thought it would be better to ask someone who knows more about it what the best way to learn is.
Answer: Michaels has classes, as do many other places I'm sure.On the show they use a lot of fondant and gum paste so if you want to try making something at home, start with those (esp. the fondant-I've tried it and its fun =]). Also wiltons.com has ideas you can try, or Michaels sells most of their products. Good luck =]

ACE personal trainer certification - does it teach you everything?
I have been researching the various certifications, and will probably go with ACE. Does the preparation teach you everything you need to know, such as exercises, proper form, opposing muscle groups, etc? Been working out for over 5 years, and my form is pretty good, but there are certain movements I dont know, like hack or sissy squat. Will I learn these through the prep, or do you recommend I get a personal trainer myself to learn proper form, movements, etc?
Yes, I go to the gym 5-6 days a week. Cardio everyday, and lifting 4 times per week. I agree, you must be in shape to be a trainer. I would never hire a trainer who looked out of shape. Do the certifications teach you technique, or do you just learn those on your own? I also read M&F.

Which Pokemon should I give Aerial Ace to?
Okay, I have the TM40 (Aerial Ace) that I received from Winnona in Pokemon Emerald after the sixth Gym battle. Im not giving it to Swellow because it natually learns Aerial Ace at Level 39 (I think). Im down to two Pokemon: My Dustox and Anorith. Should I give it to either of these two or wait until I find a better candidate? Can anyone help me?
Answer: keep it, then once you go to battle fronttear go and clone it then you can give it to who ever you want. the cloning works so don't judge it on youtube, watch it and you will know how to do this. Do not listen to anyone who says restart you game

How is the ACE prepaid card?? I have one coming in the mail and I wanna know if its good. Im 14 and Im learning how to save and budget. Because Ill admit Im totally spoiled and my mom and grandparents buy me whatever I want. My big sister just finished her first year in college and she doesnt have a job or make any of her own money. My mom and grandparents just fill up her account every week. They bought her car, pay for her gas and everything. Shes not independent at all. I dont wanna be like that. So I need all the detail. Answer: Most easily stated, you will need to think like an organic chemist, only memorization will NEVER get you to an A -- probably a C, possibly a B but not an A;)
The first prognosticator is decent grades in math courses. Next you will need to UNDERSTAND the concepts, not just memorize them. You need to understand the reaction mechanisms, be able to write them out on other substrates, so they show you in class chlorination reaction CH4 + Cl2 + catalytic initiator --> Cl radical
Cl radical + CH4 --> CH3 radical + HCl
Cl2 + CH3 radical --> CH3Cl + Cl radical and the process continues...
Now YOU WILL do the same thing with Br2, and then what about CH3CH3 perhaps both on the test you see this is all about analogies. IF it works for one reaction substrate, it works with OTHERS. This is an incredibly hard concept to understand and usually takes a "AHA moment" for most folks. To go from an B to an A, you will need to know the functional groups that are NOT compatible with the reaction - you will see this over and over again.
To improve your chances, go to the library and get other Org Chem texts, there were a dozen when I took Org, and some were pretty hard, so do the problems in the Chapter you are learning about since most texts use the same chapters (funny really but true).
Practice, practice practice.... is what I am saying.:)
Lastly consider a tutor, before it is too late.

Should i try and learn to play ace of spades on drums?
i was wandering and i want to learn to play ace of spades on drums but i dont know wether to bother or not is it hard to learn? im not a noob at drumming but im not the best so i dont want to waste my time learning it if i cant do it. if you know what i mean. [dought it lol : )] it does look kinda hard to play.
Answer: Would be tricky for a beginner due to the speed, but its a failry straightforward rhythm. Maybe try some thing like When The Levee Breaks - Led Zeppelin, or Alright Now -Free, both more simple for beginners, but have some key skills to learn that you will use in other tunes. Good luck

I want to become a cake decorator, like on Ace of Cakes, how can I begin?
Recently I have found an interest in cake decorating, I loooove the show Ace of Cakes and I would really like to learn how to do all of that. I found Wilton which has courses on cake decorating, but I have no experience. Should I start at home? Work at a bakery for them to teach me? Please help! Thanks :)
- Wilton cake decorating classes take place at your local arts and craft stores and they teach you how tos! Also, I will be attending them.
Answer: The Wilton classes are good for the basics. You're not going to learn to do fondant work like Ace of Cakes in a Wilton class though. Wilton is kind of behind the times when it comes to fondant. You can find great tutorials on youtube, and tons of information on cakecentral.com. There are some really good books too...I like books by Debbie Brown, Lindy Smith, Toba Garrett, Peggy Porschen, Colette Peters, etc...
In most bakeries you'll spend most of your time learning to ice cakes smooth and cleaning up, before they ever teach you anything advanced, if they ever do. Some bakery owners are really worried that someone will come along and learn their business, then become their competition.
I've never taken any classes or worked in a bakery. I read everything I can find, and practice at home. Here's some of my stuff:

Does the brain ever stop learning?
I am currently studying French(my second year), but my brain doesnt seem to absorb the information nor recognize the patterns. However, when it comes to other fields such as science and mathematics, I ace the classes with flying colors. I wonder if the brain ever stop the process of learning. I am also afraid that I might be learning much slower, or incapable of learning, when I reach old age.
Note: Im not sure if my lack of learning French is caused by senioritis or plain indolence.
Answer: Think of your brain like a drawer with folders containing learned skills and factual information, data in short. I believe there'll be one day when the drawer reaches its max. number of folders that it can contain, so in order to get another information, you gotta take some folders out and replace them with the new ones.
It could be possible that you haven't been paying full attention to French since it's getting harder when you get into its second year. Or you're applying for too many courses at a time so your brain gets mixed up and you simply cannot memorize anything. I don't think you're the only one who struggles about the memorizing issue nowadays since high-school students start to exceed in school and they have the same problem as you do. You can take notes, stay for a little bit longer after school for extra help from teachers or friends, google your concerning questions, join online courses or school clubs, etc...
Apparently we're heading to the century of "data factory" (which has a formal fancy name as "school") in which you'll be declared a winner when you collect the most information without caring if it would be helpful for real life. So, take it easy, you'll find a solution eventually!

Is it better to take easy classes and ace them all or advanced classes and actually learn something?
Im a highschool junior and ive had my share of ap classes. I can easily ace regular classes but I also want to take ap classes and actually learn something. Its harder for me to get a 4.0 with ap. than it is with just regular classes. I want to get into a UC or at least go to comm. college for 2 years and then transfer. What should I do?

Answer: Do a little bit of both. What class interests you the most? If, say, you favor English, take AP English, but keep the rest bonehead. Or, if you've had 1-3 years of a subject already, like art or a foreign language, take the next year of that to increase your skills. It shows continuity of interest, which looks great on college applications.
Do you have an idea of what you want to major in in college? Choosing AP classes of that subject in high school will be good for the ole' resume.
Taking a full plate of AP or bonehead will likely lead to burnout or boredom.

How do you know if you are developing a learning disability?
I used to have no trouble spelling when I was in elementary school (I always aced all my quizzes) but now I tend to leave out letters, or put them in the wrong order. I can usually recognize when I do this and fix it though. I also sometimes use the wrong words when I speak. This has been gradually getting worse in the past few years. Could I be developing a learning disability?
