What is your opinion about “Bharat Ratna” award to Sachin Tendulkar?
Now a days the most of media whether it’s print media or electronic media highlighted that the government of India had to support the moment that Sachin Tandulkar is the most eligible person to become awarded by “Bharat Ratna” the public may be the same but there were several questions raised in my mind when the Sachin Tandulkar played only two decades & he became most eligible person to become awarded by “Bharat Ratna” there were several other person who served India for four - five or more decades some of them are well known but most of them whom serve to India but the public don’t know there name properly even those media person can’t know who maintain clean their offices their seats I know they say who cares but when you are asking about “Bharat Ratna” the highest civilian award before voting any one you must consider several things If the person/persons whom were appointed to clean the society in which Sachin Tandulkar lives if they can’t do their job properly then what happened your Sachin Tandulkar was unable to dominate the world cricket I think Sachin Tandulkar also cant know those persons name who make their life clean. I think it is a small example of being neglecting each others achavements.
I am truly supportive to became Sachin Tandulkar as “Bharat Ratna” but before it I need Sachin Tandulkar’s support that he may vote to that type of person who serve India truly from decades without thinking any reward.
Answer: Only Sachin has gained by his remarkable feats. But the nation has not gained anything out of this. We can applaud him, but giving Bharat Ratna will mean that the whole nation has to feel proud of him. I think Arjuna Award is fine for him to feel proud of himself, and sparing this poor country to feel proud of Sachin.

Should government compulsorily confer Bharat Ratna award every year?
Since 2001 Government of India is not conferring Bharat ratna award.
Answer: In my opinion, Bharat Ratna, as a matter of fact all Padma awards, should be abolished. If people like MG Ramachandran could be awarded Bharat Ratna then anyone else can lay claim on it. Time is not far when even Karunanidhi will be awarded Bharat Ratna because Congress needs his support.
There have been very rare deserving people who received Bharat Ratna which inlcudes Dr APJ Abdul Kalam and many other such dignitaries were left out.
These awards have lost relavence because awarding them on political consideration has become the rule rather than the norm.

Unlike knights, holders of the Bharat Ratna carry no special title nor any other honorifics, but they do have a place in the order of precedence. Bharat Ratna roughly translates as 'Gem of India'. It was established by the President of India, Dr Rajendra Prasad in 2nd January, 1954.
Along with other major national honours, such as the Padma Vibhushan, Padma Bhushan and Padma Shri, the awarding of the Bharat Ratna was suspended from July 13, 1977 to January 26, 1980. The honour has been awarded to forty persons, a list which includes two non-Indians and a naturalized Indian citizen. Originally, the specifications for the award called for a circular gold medal carrying the state emblem and motto, among other things. It is uncertain if a design in accordance with the original specifications was ever made. The actual award is designed in the shape of a pipal leaf and carries the Hindi-written words "Bharat Ratna" on the front. The reverse side of the medal carries the state emblem and motto. The award is attached to a two-inch long ribbon, and was designed to be worn around the recipient's neck.
The original statutes of January 1954 did not make allowance for posthumous awards, though this provision was added in the January 1955 statute. Subsequently, there have been ten posthumous awards, including the award to Subhash Chandra Bose in 1992, which was later withdrawn due to a legal technicality, the only case of an award being withdrawn.

There has been one award to a naturalized Indian citizen Agnes Gonxha Bojaxhiu, better known as Mother Teresa (1980); and two to non-Indians Khan Abdul Ghaffar Khan (1987) and Nelson Mandela (1990).

At the first instant though your question appears to be of just time passing, taking little more enthusiasm, it gives a wide knowledge about various persons and other achievements. I took interest in browsing various information available on the net and I opine the following. [Kindly note, this is only my opinion, which will sure differ from person to person. No two may go together. Hence, I request no TD for any contributor, since everyone has there own way of expressing their opinion].
1) I understand from "http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bharat_Ratna", as on today there are 41 awarders conferred with this highest 'Bharat Ratna' Award. Of these two were non citizens of India - "Khan Abdul Gaffer Khan" and "Nelson Mandela"
2) Everyone of the awarders, should have been decided by the concerned only after carefully analyzing their contributions and merits. As such everyone is recognized in their field; distinguishing between one & the other is little difficult.
3) Anyway on my opinion:
i) Shri. Chakravarthi Rajagopalachari - Famously known as Rajaji; - Politician, Freedom fighter, Writer, Statesman, as well held various posts including the highest post of the then Governor General of India.
ii) Acharya Vinobha Bhave - Social Worker, Freedom fighter, Lead a selfless life and sacrificed his life for the Nation.
iii) Mother Teresa - Born non-Indian; but took voluntarily Indian citizenship; Selfless service given to poor, orphans, dying patients, etc.
iv) Dr. Abdul Kalam - No need for me to mention anything about this Honorable person; everyone know of his contribution, in keeping our Flag high in the Scientific & Defence fields.
About 'Ritesh': His outburst is realistic & I think many will support him. But I feel his answer may be for a different question 'Who should be given Bharat Ratna'?

When will the highest indian civilian award Bharat Ratna be conferred on Sh Rahul Gandhi ?
His Great Grandfather Sh Jawahar Lal Nehru was awarded Bharat Ratna in 1955. They say he was a great freedom fighter and played an important role in formation of India. If this was the criteria then why was Mahatma Gandhi left out ? Why a man like Sardar Patel who made India from thousands of kingdom was not included in that list (1955) and it took 45 years after independence to confer that award on Sardar Patel in 1991 whereas it took little more than 1 year after the creation of Bharat ratna awards to confer this award on Nehru ?
Smt Indira Gandhi, grandmother of Sh Rahul Gandhi was also awarded Bharat Ratna. They say it was during her rule that India became self sufficient in food. If this was the criteria then why wasnt Dr Norman Borlaug, the father of Green Revolution ever awarded Bharat Ratna. Remember, this award has been conferred on foreign nationals twice.
Sh Rajiv Gandhi, father of Sh Rahul Gandhi received this award in 1991 (posthumus). I have no idea why was he awarded. If it is because of the technology revolution then Manmohan Singh deserves Bharat Ratna for liberization, AB Vajpayee deserves for building massive road network and many more such people.
So guys if Bharat Ratna is the birthright of members of Nehru-Gandhi family then how much time will it take to confer this award on Sh Rahul Gandhi ?
