Which are the essential places to visit when on a holiday in Singapore and in how many days can it be covered?
If I am planning to go on a holiday to Singapore, which are the must see places that one can go to see. How many days do you think that it can be covered in like say 4 - 6 days?
Answer: Essential?
I guess Sentosa will be number 1 since most people I've met will remark "Ah...Singapore! I've been to Sentosa! It's very beautiful!" Although i think it's really rather touristy...but it depends on what you like. I've answered another question earlier for someone who likes to immerse in local culture. See http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index;_ylt=Avi3fCjWC6_L8MTEPNzMpv4T7RR.;_ylv=3?qid=20090604192845AAnx5qk
I guess a 4 days holiday will suffice if you're visiting all the places i've mentioned in the earlier answer.

Singapore Public Holidays 2011 (Asia/APEC/ASEAN)

singapore holiday?whats it like and where to go?
thinking of a holiday there, sight seeing, beach and a nice hotel.ive been looking at golkist beach resort but a bit worried of the lack of reviews and pictures.is there anywhere else in singapore you would like to recommend?going in late april early may whats the weather like?is this a mind blowing holiday worth paying up to £3000. for or shall i stay in europe again?
Answer: OMGSH SINGAPORE IS THE BEST! I used to live there for the first 10 year of my life its an absolute ball. there's the raffle's hotel but its extremely pricey...I can't help you much on the other hotels since i never had to really use them, but all the hotels are nice since it runs on tourism. I definitely recommend going to Sentosa Island, Jurong Bird Park, UnderwaterWorld (its on Sentosa Island), and the Zoo (Its the best in the world, in my opinion beating San Diego, and i'm saying this objectively). Its really close to the equator, so the weather will pretty much be the same all year round ~ 26 degrees celcius to 35 degrees celcius with humidity. It also receives a lot of random thundershowers at times that pour like crazy but for like 5 min, to be followed by sunshine. Definitely pick this over Europe

I holding a New Zealand Passport.Do I need to apply VISA if I plan to go korea(holiday) from Singapore.?
I holding a New Zealand Passport.I am now in Singapore for holiday. Do I need to apply VISA if I plan to go korea(holiday)for 8 days from Singapore.
Answer: S. Korea Visas Overview
With an onward ticket visitors from almost anywhere - except countries not recognised by South Korea (Cuba, Laos and Cambodia) - can stay in the country for 30 days without a visa. If you're from western Europe, Australia or New Zealand, you can get up to 90 days visa-free. Canadians receive a six-month permit and citizens of Italy and Portugal receive 60-day permits. Everyone else has to extend after their first 30 days. Extensions last for around 90 days, and if you know you're going to need one it's worth getting it before you leave home.
You'll have a blast in Seoul!

Why is Singapore not part of the Australia work holiday visa scheme when they are part of ours? Dampening~?
I was searching through the list of countries eligible for a work holiday visa in Australia and was unhappily hit with the fact that Singapore is not part of the countries allowed. I did a check on the Singapore MOM side and found out that we allow the ozzies to work and holiday here but not us? Thats kind of biased in my opinion, since other asian countries such as Taiwan and HKSAR get that privillege. Anyone knows why?
Answer: I don't think anyone outside the two governments actually knows the answer to your question, but I do know that there are always extensive negotiations between countries regarding special visas and that agreements must be signed before the visas are made available. Perhaps Singapore has less stringent requirements than Australia related to the relative probability of visa overstayers and the actions to be taken when/if this occurs.

If a local from Hanoi wants to come to Singapore for a holiday for 4 or 5 days, how much does it cost ?
Is there a package holiday?
Answer: Well, the holiday packages should be available at some travel agencies in HN, since Singapore is a popular tourist destination. For these packages, you have to check with the agencies for prices and itineraries.
Now if you want to go to Singapore on your own, then the entire cost would depend on a number of things. Firstly, which airline you fly... and I would recommend the budget airline Tiger Airways. Check their website for current ticket prices as they differ according to day/week/month. Secondly, accommodation. Most hotels in Singapore are costly, from S$150+ per night for single bedroom in Chinatown for example. But if you stay at a hotel somewhere around the red light district in the republic, should be about S$70 per night. Coming to expenses, well, nothing much i can say about shopping coz that depends on your budget... but for food, expect S$6 on average for a meal plus drink at roadside food outlet. Travelling by bus is cheaper but I am not sure about the price... the last time I went to Singapore a year ago, taxi costs not more than S$20 per trip to anywhere from the center of the island. Alternately, you can opt for MRT... less than $2 but you need to know the routes. As for sightseeing costs... basically every tourist spot you enter in Singapore you have to pay, but i can't list all locations here so you have to search online.

Singapore holiday?
Hello,
Im planning a short holiday in March next year and as my flight is with Singapore Airlines I thought I might stopover for 4 or 5 days on my way home.
Ideally Id like to just be lazy and lie on a beach, perhaps have a look at a few local attractions and maybe a little shopping in a local market.
I guess I will be flying in to the main international airport so if anyone has anyone suggestions as to where to stay, what to see/do, Id really appreciate it. Also any standout purchases as a momento of my trip would be nice too.
Any suggestions??
Answer: Hi, great to know you are taking Singapore Airline into Singapore as your air ticket entitles you to hop on to the SIA hop on service free of charge to tour around Singapore. It travels around Marina Bay, Chinatown, Clarke Quay, Little India, Clarke Quay and Sentosa. Marina Bay is where many 5 stars hotels located, like the famous Raffles Hotel and the Swissotel @ Stamford etc. Chinatown is the place to savour Chinese culture at its best and lots of cheap stuff you buy from there as souvenir. Clarke Quay is where those pub and night club goers go to, like the Cannery, Zouk and MOS (Ministry of Sound). Sentosa is the place where you can find beaches and attractions that opens late till the night. If you really want to take advantage of this, you can stay at City area of Singapore.
For accommodation, this really depends on what your budget is. Here are some recommendation.
Chinatown Area: Hotel81, The Summer Tavern, Robertson Quay Hotel, Holiday Inn Atrium.
Bugis Area: Seventh Storey Hotel, Hotel 81, Fragrance Hotel.
Little India Area: Tai Hoe Hotel, Hotel Bencoolen, Hotel81.
Geylang Area: Hotel 81, Fragrance Hotel, Lai Ming Hotel.

Where should I plan my first international family holiday Dubai or Singapore?
I am looking for a holiday period of 10 days.
Answer: Dubai is one of the most expensive cities for hotels. So you probably want to try another city.
Both Singapore and Hong kong are modern family friendly cities. Hong Kong has Ocean Park and Hong Kong Disney, plus a lot of cultural activities. You can also pop across to Macau and even plan a short visit to Main land China. Which means, you can easily find a lot to do for 10 days.
Singapore has a similar reputation as Hong Kong, but is perhaps better for older families.

Which city has more activities- Singapore or Hongkong for 2 year 3 month old toddler on a holiday?
Wed like to take a holiday in November with our 2 month 3 year old toddler. Choice is between Singapore or Hongkong or a Star Cruise.
Also please suggest age appropriate activities.
Answer: Though personally I prefer Hongkong to Singapore on account of the vast tourism options it offers, I would suggest that you visit Singapore since you also have a 2 yr 3 month toddler.
Singapore is an ideal city for a FAMILY holiday. Sentosa Beach, Night Safari, Jurong Bird Park, East Coast Park Beaches are all designed for a fun-filled family vacation with shows especially designed for kids. Shopping and choice of multi cuisine eating is an extra bonanza in Singapore
Hongkong is very trendy and ideal for couples. Though it offers limited attraction for Children with Ocean Park and Disney land (small compared to other disney lands).
Or you can travel from Singapore to Hong Kong vide Star Cruise and enjoy the best of both worlds.
