Do you listen to investing advice given on CNBC?
Just want to take a bit of a survey, how often (if ever) do you base your investing/trading strategies off of what you see on Cnbc. This could come from some analyst that Maria Bartiromo interviews or it could be from one of the evening shows such as Fast Money or Mad Money.
Personally the only show that Ive ever used to base my strategy off of has come from the "Fast Money" traders.
Anyway, how about you?

Answer: I am a professional trader. Most of it is painful to watch, but I do get "some" good info from Fast Money (both the lunch and late one) and Bob Pisani's Trader Talk. Sometimes there may be a guest on who really knows what they are talking about, but most of them are just there to hear themselves talk.
I really listen to the Najarians. They know their stuff. If I am thinking of making a trade and it goes against what they say, it makes me wonder. They aren't always right (no one is) but they are right more often than they are wrong.
And I can't stand Rick Santelli.

Why is CNBC justifying the stealing billions of dollars by conniving CEOs?
I understand that Cnbc has the potential to lose much of its audience because of the financial crisis.
But if I hear another person on Cnbc justifying the billions of dollars of bonuses to companies that are losing billions of dollars "Im going to take a flame thrower to this place". Its almost beyond comprehension. And I hardly see anyone calling them out on it. (Is it because nobody is actually watching Cnbc anymore?)

The recent selloff in stocks has triggered a scary "head and shoulders" pattern in the S&P 500 chart, signaling that there may be more selling to come.
Why is CNBC justifying the stealing billions of dollars by CEOs?

Answer: Simply put even if IBM is losing money they will give their CEO a couple of millions in stock (bonuses).
IBM is afraid to lose their brightest people.
Can you imagine someone normal running IBM?
That would be scary.
If you don't give them bonuses, they will simply look for work elsewhere.
That is the real problem, that other companies will always be willing to pay for that talent.
Even in the worst of times.

Bond Market Paying Little Heed to Message From S&P - CNBC
Standard & Poor's spoke loudly and clearly when it downgraded US debt, but the Treasury market on Monday didn't appear to be listening.
Why does CNBC deliberately hire pretty and young female hosts?
How come most of the Cnbc female hosts look like they could be a model on Deal or no Deal? I mean, theyre very pretty AND theyre young. I just doesnt seem very business-like. Business is supposed to be all about being conservative-looking. On Cnbc though, most of the females are just flat-out glamorous.

Think about it!

What is an appropriate dress code for an intern at cnbc?
I am a 21 year old college senior. Im a guy and I start my internship as a production assistant tomorrow at Cnbc. I was thinking of wearing dress pants, dress shoes, and a nice dress shirt. Is that ok? I dont want to under-dress, but at the same time I dont want to over-dress and look like an idiot with a suit and tie.
Answer: Look around you and dress like the people just above you - what are they wearing?
You don't want to look too impressive - at first. They want to see you're no threat, whether you are or not, that you don't stand out good or bad.
After you've been there a while you'll be able to pin point it!

What is the pattern of the ticker tapes on CNBC?
On Cnbc , the 2 streaming ticker tapes at the bottom of the screen. Is there a pattern in what is listed on the ticker tape? Why does the top move faster than the bottom?
Answer: The top one is the NYSE and the bottom is the Nasdaq and Amex.
Every 10 or 20 minutes, they show the futures and commodities prices and index prices on the top bar. Maybe that's why the top one is faster, but it's probably just to stagger them out, make them each more distinctive, to be able to see them separately.
The ticker is trying to show all trades. There is no order, but merely each trade as it happens with the last price and volume. After the market closes, then they display the stocks in alphabetical order.

Why is CNBC pushing corporate propaganda to promote Nuclear energy?
I just watched an hour show called the "Nuclear Option" promoting, I kid you not, PROMOTING nuclear energy. Is this not propaganda????
Apparently, the parent company of Cnbc : General Electric manufactures parts for nuclear plants. Geez....think maybe its in their interest to push nuclear energy on their viewers.
Corporate propaganda is pretty scary stuff.
This is why we need PBS to stay public and out of corporate and private hands so that they can provide programming that is not tainted with money or private interests.
Answer: I am not sure how much you know about nuclear energy but it is extremely clean and would remove our dependence on foreign oil. History has also proven that it is safe to use. Countries in Europe such as France are almost exclusively nuclear but they have not had problems. The two most known problems were Charita noble and 3 Mile Island both of which were old technology. I work in the power industry and if nuclear power was pushed through it would be a double edged sword for me because I work a gas turbine plant but I think it is time for us to consider it as a valuable asset.
BTW I worked for GE for a few years and they own NBC. You can bet that Jack Welch is figuring ways to make money off the Obama camp. The man may have retired but his fingers are still in the GE daily operations.

if someone buys stock do they have to watch cnbc and watch the price everyday?
when someone buys stock do they really have to watch Cnbc everyday to see how it is doing? what if they dont watch Cnbc or read the wall street journal everyday and the price goes down how would you know to get out?
Answer: It's like the boxers or brief question. "It depends."
If you are trading, you prob should be watching the stock every second or watch the minuet chart.
If you are buying and holding for 5-10 years which no one seems to do this anymore, then you don't need to watch it.
I used to ask people when they said they want to watch their stock. "Do you want to watch it go up, or watch it go down?" They didn't have a plan.
You need to have a entry and exit strategy before entering a trade. If you are looking long term as said, then just wait.
If you are not comfortable owning the stock, then you should not be in it, or not be taking on that kind of risk.
For most people, I tell them to buy or dollar cost average into the S&P 500, wait 10 years and they'll prob be very happy and no stress of the day-to-day Wall Street grind.

Do you think CNBC should try to influence markets to the upside?
I have noticed that Cnbc has been bearish and doom-and-gloom since September. At the same time, they were the same way in terms of sensationalism when they kept talking about $200 oil back in June.
I have noticed in the past couple weeks that Cnbcs tone has changed and everyone is much more up-beat and positive. Obviously, parent company GE has vested interest on how they present the news to traders.
What do you think?
Answer: have you see John Stewart on comedy central ??? after watching john stewart, i have some serious doubts on credibility of Cnbc. Donot watch Cnbc when buy stocks because they have been wrong in 1999 and they been wrong in pretty much the current economic meltdown. Cnbc kept telling people to buy bear stern stocks or encouraging them to hold on to their stocks. but it went bankrupt. Cnbc is just cheerleading these CEO of big companies when they interview them without asking any tough questions. Cnbc is a joke man. Do your own analysis.

And they run so long, too, and they repeat, often many times. Theyre always the same - and theyre all about Cnbc. Why???
Answer: I believe that Cnbc lacks a variety of external supporters who are willing to pay to advertise so Cnbc has to substitute the breaks with their own promotional content.
