How to calculate percent in which an exponential relationship affects a linear correlation?

I have run a basic Pearson P-M correlation, but I can tell from my scatterplot that an Exponential relationship exists between the two variables. I want to either completely account for (using the data set), or at least estimate (using the formula for the Exponential relationship) the extent to which this Exponential relationship has affected said linear correlation. I am not a math whiz, so please be considerate about jargon use. Thank you!
Answer: Your question is a bit confusing, so take this with caution. There's a difference between a quadratic regression analysis and a linear regression analysis. So if it appears that your data fits a curve instead of a straight line, use the former. If you've a TI-83, you can do this by putting your x and y values into two different lists and running the analysis using the STAT CALC QuadReg analysis. Most other graphing calculators should be able to do the same thing. I hope I've understood you correctly and that this helps.

What is the relationship between Temp and Reaction Rate? Linear or Exponential?

Linear or Exponential? I know it increases with temp. but I would like to know for graphing in the future. Thanks in advance. 10 points for best answer.
Answer: The relationship between temperature and reaction rate is described by the Arrhenius equation, which says that the rate constant of a reaction will vary exponentially with temperature. The actual equation is: k = Ae^(-E_A/(RT)) k being the rate constant in a reaction rate law, E_a being the activation energy. I has to do with the nature of partition functions, and the likelihood of molecules being in higher energy states given that there is a higher ambient temperature. In a nutshell - As temperature increases, the reaction rate increases exponentially.

How do you use an equation to find the y-intercept for an exponential relationship?

Answer: The same way you do it with anything else. Set x to 0. For instance: y = e^(3x) To find the y-intercept, x = 0, so y = e^(3 * 0) = e^0 = 1 So the y-intercept is (0, 1).

How do i arithmetically prove an exponential relationship?

I need to prove arithmetically (by calculation) for the data below that the foam decreases exponentially with time time height 0 6 15 4.8 30 3.8 45 3.1 60 2.5 how do i do that?? i think i need to show a constant for each value but idk how
Answer: An exponential decrease with time means that the height follows an expression of the form h = h0.e^(-c.t) where h0 is the initial height ie the height at time t = 0 ie h0 = 6, and c is a constant which measures the rate at which it decreases. To show that this law is obeyed for this set of data, you need to calculate c for each time t and show that the results are the same (more or less!). Taking (natural) logs gives ln(h) = ln(h0) - c.t which rearranges to c = - [ln(h/h0)]/t So for each pair of values (except the first, which gives you h0), substitute h and t into this equation and add the result c as a third column eg time . . . height . . . .c .0 . . . . .6.0 . . . . .n/a 15 . . . . .4.8 . . . . 0.0149 30 . . . . .3.8 . . . . 0.0152 45 . . . . .3.1 . . . . . ? 60 . . . . .2.5 . . . . . .? I've done the first two for you, but how close to these are the remaining two? And are they consistent enough to conclude that - allowing for experimental errors - c is a constant?

How to map two sets of numbers to each other so they have an exponential relationship?

Hello, I wish to map 1 to 0 to 200 to 0 with a negative Exponential relationship. This is for a car racing bot I am programming. The more I turn the slower I want to go. So on a full turn (1) I want to be going 0 kmph and a when Im not turning atall I want to go full speed 200 kmph. So: - f(0) needs to equal 200 - f(1) needs to equal 0 Ive managed to map these linearly but I want an Exponential relationship. Linear relationship is not good enough. I need to make it so I slow down EXPONENTIALLY. Such that a graph would look a bit like this: http://zoonek2.free.fr/UNIX/48_R/g773.png I dont care so much about the exponent right now... I can play around with that.. But has anyone any ideas how this can be done? Sorry if any terminology is off. Advice is appreciated :)
Answer: I don't think you want exponential, your picture looks more like this: y = 300 / (2 * x + 1) - 100 here are the points you would get: X: Y 0.00: 200.0000 0.05: 172.7273 0.10: 150.0000 0.15: 130.7692 0.20: 114.2857 0.25: 100.0000 0.30: 87.5000 0.35: 76.4706 0.40: 66.6667 0.45: 57.8947 0.50: 50.0000 0.55: 42.8571 0.60: 36.3636 0.65: 30.4348 0.70: 25.0000 0.75: 20.0000 0.80: 15.3846 0.85: 11.1111 0.90: 7.1429 0.95: 3.4483 1.00: 0.0000

Is there an exponential relationship between notes on a piano and how does this work?

Is there a relationship between the frequency of G# and its position in relationship to middle C ....and well assume middle C has a frequency of 262Hz sorry i didnt really describe the question well.... any help would be great :) thanks in advance
Answer: There are 7 white keys and 5 black keys in an octave, so totally there are 12 keys in an octave , if you assume a key for example F has the frequency of x, the next F which is an octave upper than it, will have the frequency of 2x, therefore in this octave F# frequency is x multiplied by a certain number and G frequency is F# frequency multiplied by the same number and so on; this number which is "y", can be found like this : There are 12 keys to reach the next F, so there are 12 "y" multiplied to get to 2x : x*y*...*y = 2x => x*(y^12) = 2x , you can omit x => y^12 = 2 => y = 2^(1/12) I wish I hadn't made you confused, now with this number you should find your answer. G# is 8 halftone (for instance C# is 1 halftone upper than C) upper than C, so as you say if we assume the middle C frequency is 262Hz , G# frequency will be : 262*(y^8) , substitute "y" by 2^(1/12) => 262*(2^(8/12)) = 262*(2^(2/3)) = 262*(4^(1/3)) = 262*1.5874 = 415.8990 G# frequency is 415.8990 Hope to help

What is the relationship between the growth factor of an exponential and its Δy/Δx vs y?

How can I find what the growth factor of the exponential model is, from the Δy/Δx vs y equation? How do they relate to each other?
Answer: What do you mean by "Δy/Δx"? Are you referring to the standard "dy/dx," denoting a derivative? The Δ symbol does indicate change... as does the 'd' in Leibniz's notation of the derivative... but the 'd' refers to an infinitesimal change while Δ refers to any finite change. Anyway... the rate of change of any exponential function y = a^x will have a value of ln(a)⋅a^x If y = a^x then y' = dy/dx = ln(a)⋅a^x It is no coincidence that the transcendental number 'e', Euler's number (approx 2.718281828...) works beautifully with this. If y = e^x then y' = dy/dx = e^x ... the functional value and its instantaneous slopes are the same. That is no coincidence. This is the defining basis for what 'e' is. The value for e was evaluated using the above definitions

Whats an exponential relationship?

Im in 8th grade, and Im not entirely sure what an Exponential relationship is. In class, were doing exponential growth and decay, so we have to identify if a specific problem describes an Exponential relationship. Could you give me an example with this problem?: 1a. y = 100 * 3^x So how can you identify an Exponential relationship? Does it mean if the problem includes exponents? Thanks!
Answer: If the independent variable (x, in this case) appears as an exponent, then the relationship is exponential. The following is an Exponential relationship: y = 3 * 6^(2*x) The following is NOT an Exponential relationship: y = 3 * (2*x)^6 The reason the second example is not exponential is that the dependent variable (x) does not appear AS an exponent itself.
