Laylatul Qadr | Haq Islam
Aug 23, 2007 ... Ramadan - a time of relection, increase in prayer and recitation of the Quran. The virtues and significance of Laylatul Qadr in Islam.
Ramadan: Lailatul Qadr, What should be done in this night?
In this night a person should make worship of Allah Ta’ala exclusively, even though there is no special form of worship prescribed for this night. One can engage in the offering of nafl prayers as much as possible or in supplications, in the recitation of the Holy Quran or by any other good deed, which is not contrary to the Shariyyah.
Since this is the night wherein Allah sends his special blessings from the heavens upon the earth, being so blessed that even the angels from the heavens descend upon the earth and convey salaams to every believer as it is narrated on the authority of Ibne Abbas, that Rasool (s.a.w.) had said, "...all those angels who are stationed by the sidratul muntaha (lote tree of the utmost boundary beyond which none can pass) descend with the angel Jibraeel (a.s) to the earth and there remains no male or female believers whom they do not convey salaams to, exempting the person who drinks liquor or consumes pork". (Bukhari & Muslim).
Verily, one who does not derive benefit, and does not value this golden opportunity for the worship of Allah Ta’ala is a sign of total ignorance. This is the reason why Rasoolullah (s.a.w.) has stated
“The person who deprives himself from the blessings of Lailatul qadr, indeed has deprived himself of all good and none other than an ignorant person is deprived from such good.” (Ibne Majah).
Considering this hadith, we should attempt to spare some time for the worship of Allah Ta’ala on this auspicious night.
The most profound way to derive benefit from the blessings of this night, is to stay awake for the whole night and spend it in prayers, but people who cannot do so, for any reason, should at least spare a reasonable portion of the night for Allah. Some rakaahs should be offered in the least, after midnight as tahajjud, the Quran should be recited, duaas be made, and any form of zhikr should be constantly uttered.
Once, the beloved wife Aiysha (r.a.) inquired from Rasoolullah (s.a.w.) as to what duaa should be made on the Lailatul qadr, upon this Rasoolullah (s.a.w.) taught her the following duaa “ Oh, Allah you are surely most forgiving and merciful, you love forgiving, so do forgive me.”

Do I need to finish reading the Quran by today as it is lailatul-qadr?
or can I read it until the last day of Ramadan?
Answer: There is no rule for that, people try to finish it during Ramadan or read and make much more effort as the reward in Ramadan is greater. It's some kind of celebration to finish reading by the 27th, but really no one knows when exactly is Lailatul qadr. I believe this is the wisdom of that night, that everyone may feel it in a certain time or night in the last nights of Ramadan. It's a motivation also to do more and to ask God more in those last nights. You see that God reward us more when we ask him more. God is more happy when try and we do our best while God is always with us and can see that we do what we can.
God bless you, if you couldn't finish it today just continue. If you finish it and read more till the end of Ramadan, that's better. If you can always read Quraan either one page or few words everyday, that would be very good for all the year.

What makes some people so sure that Lailatul Qadr is on 27th Ramadan?
What do Shias think about it?When do they observe Lilatul Qadr? or they dont?
Ahmadis/Submitters...please dont answer this question, thanks.
why all the muslims thumbing up that Qadiani?Have u guys converted to Ahmadism or what?
W T H !
Thanks Eviwahabi and Waterlily
Answer: Well, in fact there is a hadith (dunno authentic or not), which mentions that Muhammad (P.B.U.H) had a dream in Ramadan that He (P.B.U.H) was praying on the Laylat ul Qaqr. He prostrated (performed sujud), and when He (P.B.U.H) raised His head from it, His forehead was covered with wet mud.
He (P.B.U.H) informed the companions. When they prayed with Him on the night of the 27th Ramadan, they observed His forehead covered with wet mud when He (P.B.U.H) arose from His sujud. So many surmised that it was the night of the Laylat ul Qadr.
However, I am not v. sure of it. Allah knows best. He didn't inform us as to the exact date, so we can't be ever sure. But the 25th and 27th nights are considered by the scholars as highly probable.
As for the Qadyanis, yeah, they can't be trusted with info. God only knows how they make a simple thing complicated, running it through a hell of a roller coaster! It's not that people always think of them, but they always enter my mind when I open Y/A, and see a question or answer by a Qadyani. Mirza made such amusing statements. Why, the Qadyanis are my favourite Y/A users, to be sure. I wouldn't know what I would do if they all left Y/A one day!

Ramadan: Lailatul Qadr, Is it Significant To You?
One of the most distinctive aspects of the month of Ramadhan is that it includes Lailatul qadr (the night of power), which is the most blessed night of the year. This is that very night in which Allah Ta’ala chose to reveal the Holy Quran upon our beloved Rasool (s.a.w.). This is also the night wherein Allah decides the destiny, sustenance, birth, and death etc. for His creation. It is mentioned in the Holy Quran that this night is better than a thousand months (83 years & four months) as Allah himself speaks:
SIGNIFICANCE
“The night of al qadr is better than a thousand months.” (verse 3 Surah Al Qadr).
This means the worship performed in this night brings more reward than that worship carried out for the period of a thousand months.
In the authentic teachings of Rasoolullah (s.a.w.), it is mentioned that Allah Ta’ala showers his special mercy in this night towards the inhabitants of the earth, accepts the duaas made by his servants and forgives all those people who repent sincerely, as Rasoolullah (s.a.w.) has stated in a hadith
“Whosoever stood up in front of Allah on the night of qadr with Iman and true conviction of attaining reward from Allah, in return, Allah will forgive all his previous sins.” (Muslim)
WHEN?
According to authentic sources Lailatul qadr falls in any one of the last five odd nights of Ramadhan i.e. 21, 23, 25, 27 and 29th alternating each year, as we are told in the hadith related by Ibne Umar (r.a.), Rasoolullah (s.a.w.) said “ ...and, search for Lailatul qadr in the odd nights of the last ten days of Ramadhan.”
Answer: Lailatul qadr is very important for all muslims, even those who are not very knowledgeable, even they know the importance of these nights. And we have to realize that these nights are a break or make nights. What we do in these nights, will decide what our fate for the next year. It is our belief that if we are devoting ourselves to Allah, worshiping him, asking for his forgiveness, praying for his blessings, begging for his rahmah, than Allah will inshallah give us positive fate, a fate with his blessings and forgiveness. But of course it is up to us to do something. Allah has said that the rewards of Ramadan are up to me to decide, and for you to gain. So in Ramadan, whatever we can do, the more the better and it is all up to Allah to give us what he wants. Could be 100 time reward for one prayer and could be more. But we believe that he will give us grant rewards. And inshallah we will all worship and work hard in gaining the most rewards from Allah. Amen

Peace be upon you
Aishah (radhiya Allahu Taala anha), that she said: "O Messenger of Allah! What if I knewwhich night Lailatul-Qadr was, then what should I say in it?" He (pbuh) said Say
Allahumma innaka affuwwun tuhibbul afwa fafu anni "
O Allah You are The One Who pardons greatly, and loves to pardon, so pardon me.

Answer: In the name of Allah (Subhanahu wa Ta’ala), the most merciful, the most beneficent
“Key to Akhirat (Hereafter)”
“Lailatul – Qadar”
“The Night of Power”
We revealed it (the Qur’an) on the Night of Power
Would that you knew what the Night of Power is like.
Better is the Night of Power than a thousand months.
On that night the angels and Spirit descend by their Lord’s permission, with all His decrees.
That night is peace, till the break of dawn. (97 Holy Quran)
In this significant night alone worshipping Allah (Subhanahu wa Ta’ala) is more than the worship of one thousand months. Whosoever missed the virtues of this night will be very unlucky but will not be deprived from the blessing of this Night.
This Night of Power falls in the last ten days of the holy month of Ramadan. Most scholars are agreed and say to seek it in odd nights of Ramadan such as 21, 23, 25, 27 and 29.
“He who spends the Night of Power in worship, with a pure motive of faith and devotion, will have all his past sins forgiven”
In this night, Arch Angle Jibril (Gabriel in Bible) with the permission of Allah (Subhanahu wa Ta’ala) descend from heaven with many angels on earth with four flags one for each Holy Kaaba, Prophet’ Mosque (Masjid-e-Nabvi), Baitul Maqdas and Mount of Sinai. He would order all angels to spread out on earth to visit the homes of Muslims, land and sea and herald the worshippers of Allah. They make Dua to Allah (Subhanahu wa Ta’ala) for the forgiveness of the Muslims until the dawn. They do not visit where there are pictures, swine, alcohol, dog and sex.
The Best way to Pray Nawafil in the Night of Qadr:
1. Two Rakah Nafil in each Rakah after Surah Fatiha, Surah Qadar once and Surah Ikhlas (3) three times. The person would get the reward of the Night of Power, which would be equal to the rewards of Hazrat Idris (A.S.), Hazrat Shuaib (A.S.), Hazrat Ayub (A.S.), Hazrat Dawood (A.S.) and Hazrat Nuh (A.S.). The person would get a palace in paradise, which stretches from east to west.
2. The Holy Prophet (Salla Allahu ta’ala ‘alayhi wa Sallam) said, whosoever would pray two Rakah Nafil in the night of Qadr, in each Rakah after Surah Fatiha, read Surah Ikhlas (7) seven times and after finishing the prayer read (Astaghfirul lahil azimal lazi la ilaha illahoal hiul qaiumo wa atubo alaih) (70) seventy times.
Before the person would get up from his/her prayer mat Allah (Subhanahu wa Ta’ala) will forgive all his/her sins and sins of their parents; and Allah (Subhanahu wa Ta’ala) will order the angels to plant fruit trees and build palaces for him/her in the paradise. The person will not die until he/she would see it in their dream.
3. Whosoever would pray four Rakah Nafil in the night of Qadar (Shab-e-Qadar), in each Rakah after Surah Fatiha, Surah At-Takathur once and Surah Ikhlas (3) three times. Allah (Subhanahu wa Ta’ala) will ease the hardship of death on him/her and will remove the punishment of grave. The person will get four columns in the paradise and each will sustain thousand palaces in it.
4. Whosoever would pray four Rakah Nafil in night of Qadar, in each Rakah after Surah Fatiha, Surah Qadar (3) three times and Surah Ikhlas (50) fifty times. After finishing the prayer read (Subhanallahe walhamdo lillahe wa lailaha illallaho walahu akbar). Allah (Subhanahu wa Ta’ala) will fulfill any just Dua (supplication) the person would ask.
5. Whosoever would pray four Rakah Nafil in the 27th of Ramadan night of Qadar, in each Rakah after Surah Fatiha, Surah Qadar once and Surah Ikhlas (27) twenty-seven times. The person will be forgiven all his/her sins; and will be pure and innocent like a newborn child; and will be rewarded with thousand palaces in the paradise.
6. Hazrat Ali (R.A.A) said:
“whosoever read Surah Qadr (7) seven time after the Isha prayer, Allah (Subhanahu wa Ta’ala) will remove all the calamities, hardship from him/her and one thousand angels would be making Dua for him/her for the Jannah (paradise).” (Ghanitul Talebin, Nazhatal Majalis, Fazeal-e-Shahud)

How can we "find" Lailatul Qadr?
Hazrat Aisha Radiallah Anha stated that I asked Rasool Allah peace be upon him, "If I find Lailatul Qadar then what should I do? HE peace be upon him said, recite this Dua."ALLAH HUMMA INNAKA A’FUVUN TOHIB BUL AFVA FA’AFU ANNI" (Tirmidhi)
We come to know whether it was Lailatul qadr later, right? What does she mean by "If i find"?
I hope you understand my Q, I dont know how to explain
Answer: According to an authentic Hadith it is found in the odd nights of the last 10 days of Ramadan. And to clear any confusion the first odd night is the night when you break your 20th fast and not the 21st night.
And the hadith in the question in English is
Aisha, may Allah be pleased with her, said: I asked the Messenger of Allah: 'O Messenger of Allah, if I know what night is the night of Qadr, what should I say during it?' He said: 'Say: O Allah, You are pardoning and You love to pardon, so pardon me.'
Aisha, may Allah be pleased with her, related that the Prophet said: Look for Laylatul Qadr on an odd-numbered night during the last ten nights of Ramadan (Bukhari).
Once, Prophet Musa ('a) said to Allah (swt)"I desired to be near you", to which Allah (swt) said, "Whoever desires to be near me should remain awake during Laylatul Qadr (worshiping me)." Prophet Musa ('a) said:"And I wish to earn your mercy", Allah (swt) said, "That is granted to the one who is merciful to the indigent during this night." Prophet Musa ('a) said: “And I wish to pass on the right path", Allah (swt) said, "This is granted to the one who spends alms during Laylatul Qadr." Prophet Musa ('a) said:"I wish to enjoy the trees and fruits of paradise", the Almighty (swt) said, "That is granted to the one who praises me during this night."Again Prophet Musa ('a) asked, "I wish to achieve salvation from the fire" - Allah (swt) said, "That is granted to the one who seeks forgiveness during Laylatul Qadr." And then Prophet Musa ('a) said, "O 'Allah - I want to achieve your pleasure", the Almighty (swt) said, " I shall be pleased with any one who prays two rakaat prayer during this night."
[Sahih Bukhari : Hadith No. 973]
Narrated Ibn 'Umar (Radi Allah Anhu) : Some men amongst the companions of the Prophet Muhammad (sal-allahu-alleihi-wasallam) were shown in their dreams that the night of Qadr was in the last seven nights of Ramazan. Allah's Messenger (sal-allahu-alleihi-wasallam) said, "It seems that all your dreams agree that (the Night of Qadr) is in the last seven nights, and whoever wants to search for it should search in the last seven nights of Ramazan."
[Sahih Bukhari : Hadith No. 974]
Narrated Abu Salama (Radi Allah Anhu) : I asked Abu Sa'id (Radi Allah Anhu) about the Night of Qadr and he said, "We practised Itikaf in the middle third month of Ramazan with Prophet Muhammad (sal-allahu-alleihi-wasallam). In the morning of the 20th of Ramazan, the Prophet Muhammad (sal-allahu-alleihi-wasallam) came to and addressed us and said, " I was informed of the date of the Night of Qadr but I was caused to forget it, or I forget, so search it in the last ten nights of month of Ramazan."
[Sahih Bukhari : Hadith No. 975]
Narrated 'Ibn Abbas (Radi Allah Anha): The Allah's Messenger (sal-allahu-alleihi-wasallam) said, "Look for the Night of Qadr in the last ten nights of Ramazan on the night when nine or seven or five nights remain out of the last ten nights of the Ramazan."
[Sahih Bukhari : Hadith No. 976]
Narrated 'Ibn Abbas (Radi Allah Anha) in this quotation: Allah's Messenger (sal-allahu-alleihi-wasallam) said, "The Night of Qadr is in the last ten nights of the month of Ramazan either on the first nine or in the last (remaining) seven nights of Ramazan."
[Sahih Bukhari : Hadith No. 977]
Narrated 'Aisha (Radi Allah Anhu) : With the start of the last ten days of Ramazan, Allah's Messenger (sal-allahu-alleihi-wasallam) used to tighten his waist-belt (i.e. hard work) and used to offer Salat (Prayer) all the night, and used to keep his family awake for the Salat (prayers).

Confusion: Lailatul qadr prayer the night before or the night of?
I am going to be praying for Lailatul qadr on the 29th night (since i have a big appointment/interview the next day).
Im confused about if youre supposed to do the nafl prayers (or whatever u may please to do xtra) for Lailatul qadr on the actual night of the 29th or the night before fasting for the 29th night (but wouldnt that make it the 28th night?)
Im getting mixed answers from fam members, online etc...
need the clarification...thnkx
srry i think i worded it wrong......i wana know if u do it the night before or the night of the 29th night.....
my fam member keeps saying u do the praying/reciting etc night before fajr azaan n u keep ur fast for the 29th day and i think its after u break ur fast on the actual 29th night n then u pray magrib n do evrything else.........
whose right????......m confused...
Answer: the day is from sunset to sunset..so for example during the morning/afternoon time of today it was the 28th as soon as it hit sunset the 29th began and will continue to be the 29th until the sunset of the next day...that's assuming u started ramadan on wed. aug. 11th nd not the 12th....so tonight u shud stay up

Do you observe Lailatul Qadr : The Night of Power - Prayer?
The Night of Power (Lailatul-ul-Qadr) will be observed on the evening of Monday 8th October, 2007
Qadr means honour and dignity. Lailatul qadr means the night of honour and dignity. It is this night in which the first Divine Revelation came to the Prophet sallalahu alayhi wasallam, when he was in prayer in the cave of Hira. Since this night enjoys the honour of having the first revelation brought to the Prophet sallalahu alayhi wasallam, it has been named Lailatul qadr.
This is one of the holiest and most blessed nights, which is likely to occur on one of the odd nights on the last ten days of Ramadhan and most likely to be the 27th. The reward of worship on this night is better than the worship of a thousand months of worship, equivalent to a persons lifetime. So, on this night one should pray nafil namaz, recite the Quran, do Tasbih, Zikr, Duas, etc as much as possible.
This night had already opened its gates of treasures when the angel for the first time had come with the Divine Message in the cave of Hira, but its auspiciousness has continued to be with us permanently. Every year in the month of Ramadhan, this night is given to the Ummah. Muslims engage in prayers, recitation of Quran and praying to Allah, as the Prophet sallalahu alayhi wasallam said: "The person who offered prayers to Allah in the night of Dignity with faith and with hope of reward from Allah, all his past sins have been forgiven." (Bukhaari)
As the rainy season is suitable for farming, similarly for the attainment of nearness to Allah, specific times , specific days and specific nights are most suitable, e.g. the time of Tahajjud prayers, Friday prayers, month of Ramadhan, the Day of Arafah, etc. So also the Night of Power is the most suitable night for attaining nearness to Allah.
In the Hadeeth, we have been asked to seek it in the last ten nights of the month of Ramadhan. Hazrat Aaishah radhiyallahu anhaa narrates that the Messenger of Allah sallalahu alayhi wasallam has said, Seek the night of Dignity in the odd nights of the last ten days of Ramadhan.(Bukhaari).
By odd nights, the reference is made to the 21st, 23rd, 25th, 27th, 29th night of the month of Ramadhan. No one night has been fixed so that the yearning to find it may increase and people may spend more nights in worshipping Allah. From this aspect, the importance of `Itikaaf (seclusion) during the last ten days of Ramadhan is clear.
Some special prayers and Zikr for Laitul Qadr top
1. Seeking Forgiveness. Hazrat Aaishah radhiyallahu anhaa asked the Prophet sallalahu alayhi wasallam that if she happened to get the night sublime what prayer should she say. The Prophet sallalahu alayhi wasallam replied that she should say the following prayer :
"Allahumma innaka afuwwun kareemun tuhib-bul af-wa fa-afo anni"
(O Allah, You are the One who grants pardon for sins, loves forgiving, so forgive me.)
2. Reciting Astaghfar. The following should be recited as much as possible:
"Astaghfirullah hallazi la-ila-ha illa huwal Hayyul Qayyumo wa atu-bu ilaihe"
(I seek forgiveness from Allah, the Almighty, there is no God but He. He is self-Existent, the Eternal and I return to Him)
3. Reciting Surah `Inna anzalnahu...
"Inna anzalnahu fee Lailatul qadr, Wa maa adraka maa Lailatul qadr.
Lailatul qadri khairum min alfi shahr. Tanazzalul malai-katu var-roohu
fee ha bi izni Rabbihim min kulle amr. Salaamun heya hatta matla-il fajr."
4. Do Salatul Tasbih.
5. Do Afzul Zikr i.e. La ilaha illallah

How do i pray for 25th LAILATUL QADR?
Answer: In this night (27th of Ramadan), the Holy Quran was sent down from LOH-E-MEHFOOZ (the Preserved Tablet) to the earth. Messenger of ALLAH (Blessings of Allah and peace be on him) told us to search for Shab-e-Qadr in the odd numbered nights, in the last ten days of Ramzan. So, the 21st, 23rd, 25th, 27th or 29th night of Ramadan could be Shab-e-Qadr.
Hazrat Aisha Radiallah Anha stated that Rasool Allah peace be upon him said, "Look for Lailat-Ul-Qadr in the odd nights of the last ten days of Ramadhan." (Bukhari)
Hazrat Aisha Radiallah Anha stated that as much Rasool Allah peace be upon him tried (Ibadat) in the last Ashra (ten days) of Ramadhan, did not try in any of the Ashra." (Muslim)
