What school in Australia do you think is the best?
I really need an opinion on a school anywhere in Australia to send my children. Any price range. We have already tried:
Geelong Grammar
Wilderness School
Firbank Grammar School
St Brigids School
Methodist Ladies College &
Ivanhoe Girls Grammar School
Answer: I finished High School last year and i attended Mentone Grammar until year 9 and then went to Frankston High School Until Year 12 as i moved out of home.
I can honestly say from first hand experience that Frankston High School was better education. Although Mentone had better facilities and the sort, i found myself to be more engaged at Frankston High i know it is frankston so you probably don't want to send your kids there lol but i did save 16 grand a year on fee's lol
In regards to the top performing schools academically
Melbourne High School and Mac Robertson High School received 1 and 2 in regards to academic results and have for the last several years I am pretty certain these schools are public as well which means you save cash and its the best school. Your kids have to be very very intelligent to be accepted to these schools as you can't simply buy your way in like some private schools.
In regards to best performing schools sporting wise if thats what your kids are more into i can honestly say Frankston High School is the best.
Reason being for the last 10 years we have one the state athletics championship by a mile, out of every school in victoria.
Last year we also won the Boys year 12 AFL championship, this was only competed against public schools but we played Ballarat in the Final and won by 30 odd points and competed across the whole state. Previous years we have come runners up a few times and won a couple a few years back. There was also 2 draftess to the AFL picked up in the national draft a couple of weeks back. So that does support the sporting basis.
Hope i helped :)

Im methodist. But Im interested in an all-girl catholic school?
I am a methodist girl and i live in michigan, im interested in an all-gorl catholics college. can i get in, or is there like...some restriction on that?
Answer: With the exception of a few very specialized institutions (mostly that train for a life of ministry), you can attend a religious institution even if you aren't of the particular religion that the institution was founded upon. Give the school's admissions office a call to verify.

How are Methodists different from Catholics and Protestants?
Well, I am a Muslim and studied in a boys-only primary school called Saint Thomas which was attached to a Catholic Church. Obviously the Church had no control on the School and the headmaster was a Muslim himself. Maybe it did play a role in the past but not anymore.
Anyways, just opposite my school was a girls-only school called Methodist girls school which was attached to a a Methodist Church. Again the church had no control over the school but did fucntion as usual.
I have many Catholic and protestant friends but not even one Methodist. And when I asked them the differences they said they dont know. So pls let me know. Im just curious.
Answer: Methodists are a particular kind of Protestant. Like other Protestants they have rejected the authority of the pope and other distinctively Catholic beliefs and practices. Like other Protestants they believe that human salvation comes not through good works, but through faith in Jesus.
Methodism was started by John Wesley, a British Anglican priest. Initially Methodism was a strongly 'evangelical' movement -- they stressed conversionism (everyone has to be 'born again'), the importance of practically living out the Christian life, the importance of religious experience, evangelism, etc. Methodism was exported to the United States where it grew by leaps and bounds under the leadership of people like Thomas Coke and Francis Asbury.
Methodists in America, like many other Protestant movements, experienced the effects of the rise of Protestant liberalism. Today Methodism is quite diverse, with some Methodists practicing a conservative form of evangelicalism, and other Methodists practicing a more liberal form of Protestantism.
A few random bits of info about Methodists:
-Methodists have traditionally placed a strong emphasis on issues of social justice.
-Methodists are generally Arminians. This means that, unlike Calvinists, they believe that human beings have free will, that Christ died for everyone (rather than just the elect), and that it is possible for someone to fall from grace and lose their salvation (there are some similarities with Catholicism in this regard).
-Many theologians today use what is known as the 'Wesleyan Quadrilateral' when they study theology. So-named because it was the method used by Wesley, the quadrilateral makes use of four sources for understanding God -- scripture, tradition, reason, and experience.

Do U have any information about Henry Apenzeller, a Methodist?
Protestantism was introduced into Korea in 1884 by two Americans: Henry Apenzeller, a Methodist, and Horace Underwood, a Presbyterian. Template:Ref Emphasizing the mass-circulation of the Bible (which had been translated into Korean between 1881 and 1887 by the Reverend John Ross, a Scottish Presbyterian missionary in Manchuria, the Protestant pioneers also established the first modern educational institutes in Korea. Template:Ref The Methodist PaeChae School for boys was founded in 1885, and the Presbyterian Ehwa girls school followed a year later. (from Wikipedia)
Iam a OB of the PaeChae School in Seoul,
so I want to know what he was like.
Ive heard that he was from Yale Univerty.
Answer: Henry was from Lancaster, Pennsylvania. He attended Drew Theological Seminary near Morristown, New Jersey. There is a (rather pricey) book available on Amazon.com by Daniel M. Davies, The Life and Thought of Henry Gerhard Appenzeller (link below), but I have not read it. Davies also did a piece for the American Society of Church History, "Building a City on a Hill in Korea" (Church History, vol. 61, no. 4, pp. 422-435). There is also another book by William Elliot Griffis, A Modern Pioneer in Korea (Revell, 1912) to look for.

I have a huge concern. I am an employee at Methodist Hospital in Peoria, IL.?
I need to know if someone knows who I can talk to to report my supervisor. I work 2nd shift and I go to college full time during the day before I go to work. There is another girl that works during the day at my job and takes night classes. Well, there is a lot of favoritism shown for this other girl regarding her schooling. For example, if someone calls in on 2nd shift, this other girl never has to work over b/c the supervisor says she has school and has only been at the job for two years. Myself on the other hand has been at the job for seven years but my supervisor scheduled me to work 3rd shift, and she knows class for me starts at 8am in the morning. This other girl gets whatever she wants and everyone at the job sees it as well. I need to know does anyone know what kind of atty I should speak to about this b/c its not fair. I have tried speaking to my supervisor, her supervisor and even the director over my dept, but they all stick together. Could someone please help me out????? Thanks.
Answer: I think that you should consider shopping around for another job. It sounds as if they do not think well enough of you to care what happens to you. You are considering an attorney for help? Do not waste your time with at attorney for this kind of a situation.

Answer: Some just don't do well on the sat's. The schools know this. You have fairly decent credentials. I think you have a shot at most of them. Northeastern could be a bit tough. I don't know exactly where you live now, but a safe school won't hurt. Seems like you are in new jersey, I would try Rutgers New Brunswick. Decent school, and they just may offer you the best package.

i am in primary 5...................?
i am in primary 5 now and my teacher asked me to skip primary 6 and she wants me to go secondary 1 the next year she gave me an option either i should skip or not.my friend still does not know these problem yet.should i tell them? should i skip primary 6?i will miss my friends what should i do?i know there`s 2 ways the first one is i can email them but these would not help any because they don`t have a computer.they can`t affort to buy it.the second one is to meet them some where, but i don`t have anytime to do these.pls help!!!i will be going to methodist girls high school after that.my teacher have ask me to skip one time which i was in primary 1,immediately i have skip to primary 3 i have miss my friends.should i just skip again? i got good result in all the subject in school ,because of that so i have to skip one level and i wouldn`t saw my friends anymore.thanks
Answer: Education is far more important in life, for your future. What is wrong with good old fashioned letter writing?Yes its sad they can't afford a computer, but an envelope and a stamp don't cost much. What did people do before computers and mobile phones come along? It would just be like having penpals. You sound a fun, happy girl who will easily make new friends.Look at life from a different perspective. You are moving forwards and nothing or nobody should stand in your way.It may seem like the end of the world now, putting your education first, but later in life when you have qualifications you will know you have done what is best for you.Take care

My mom is Apostolic and she makes me Apostolic and it makes me depressed?
Hi, Im a 13 year old girl living in Ohio. My parents and I used to go to a Methodist church when I was younger, and I really enjoyed it there. But after my parents got divorced over a little more than 2 years ago, I cant go there anymore because my dad doesnt go to church and my mom will only go to an Apostolic church because my aunt goes there. I LOVE God, and I want to please him so much. Im currently not going to church, because I dont really have an option other than the Apostolic church.
For those of you who dont know who Apostolics are, they are the people who speak in tongues, think dancing is wrong (yet they seem to be having quite a party while dancing during the service), never cut their hair, only wear dresses or skirts (And dont even think of wearing a short dress or skirt! Anything even close to the knees is just wrong to them), and are just a little crazy to me.
I cant stand the church my mom goes to. The people are just plain mean, and think if you disagree with them about anything, you are a disgrace to God. Im not saying all Apostolics are like this; Im sure there are some very nice ones!! And I feel very uncomfortable there. They expect you to get up and start dancing and running around the room and scream at the top of your lungs. They expect you to go up to the front if you have a problem and be "healed" by the touch of everyone else while speaking in tongues. Im a very shy, reserved girl, and I cant do any of that. I feel so awkward there; every moment there is like a moment spent in hell on earth.
My mom hates me now because I dont want to be Apostolic, but it makes me so depressed. I want to wear jeans and shorts (not short shorts though), I want to have shoulder length hair, I want to be able to go to my school dance and have fun. Its ruined me a a person. When I was younger and went to the Methodist church, I was one of the most popular girls at school, but now Im the complete opposite. I only have two friends, and I know they really dont want to be my friend. No one wants to be seen with the "weird Apostolic girl". Like Im a disease. I get bullied because of it, and Ive even considered suicide... but I know that is a sin and I feel guilty about even considering it. But its just gotten so bad...
Im 13 (almost 14 in two weeks) so in a few years when Im finally 16 and old enough to drive I plan to go back to the Methodist church I once attended. I know itll anger my mom even more... but Im scared if I dont it could lead to my ultimate downfall... and I want to get my life with God back on track.
Is there anything I can do now? Being 16 seems a world away. Am I a horrible person for feeling how I do? Sometimes I think I am... my mom makes me feel like I am. Ive had depression for the past two years, and Im tired of it. What can I do? Please help in any way you can and thank you for taking time to read this. Thank you in advance!
Answer: First let me say that I am so sorry that you are going through this. It is very difficult for many young women apostolics. I myself am apostolic and ironically have a daughter that is almost your age ( she is 12) She has been struggling with the skirts and being an outcast at school. I completely understand how you are feeling. It is tough. What you are feeling is normal and you are NOT a horrible person. Not only are you "different" from so many others, You are also coming to an age in your life where you are trying to figure out who you are and who you want to be in this world. And also you have just gone through a very difficult time (the divorce). Divorce will shake our whole world up and cause great depression! I know because I was divorced in Nov. 2009. All three of my kids are in therapy and are trying to work through their feelings and confusion. Sometimes it seems like forever ago and then the next day it seems like it just happened. This goes the same for the kids as well. You've had to try and get use to a whole new life. But remember your mom has too. She is trying to do what she thinks is right. And she has probably found great comfort in her new found beliefs. I applaud her for searching out the Lord. Again she is trying to do what she thinks is right. I am not one to tell anyone that they should not listen and obey their parents. It is important that you do! However, you have to find your own salvation. Your mom will not be the one that you stand before on judgement day. You will stand before God almighty and you will stand alone to answer for the choices that you have made in this life. I don't believe that your mom hates you. In fact, Im sure she loves you very much! And even if you don't feel it, i think you realize that God loves you so much more. And that is reason enough to put the thought of suicide out of your mind. But don't feel guilty because you have thought about it. Guilt is what the devil uses most to hinder most of us in this world. Also, I am very upset that you feel like the people in your church are mean to you. I have to admit that I have met a few of those cranky people as well. It is a shame but it does happen. I will be praying for you. And I suggest that you talk to your mom about how you feel. Maybe you could go to another apostolic church. Also, it would definately help you to try and connect with people your age at your church. Try to go to as many youth rallies and conventions that you can and make as many friends that you can. Also, one little trick to fighting depression is dancing and singing. It doesn't have to be gospel music, but it should be positive. You would really benefit for just ten minutes of exercise (dancing & singing) a day. Well, I hope I've helped. remeber that you are responsibile for your salvation now. You are grown up enough now to start counting yourself reponsible for your own personal salvation. And as difficult as it may be, you should dress and be as your mother chooses. I will be praying for you and your family. It's tough to live by others restrictions.

Why do guys like to treat girls like crap? And is he shy or does he just not like me?
Well this one guy who was one of my best friends told me that he liked me and wanted to date me but we should wait a while. We hung out alot and things were goin good, then he goes to ressurection [methodist church convention thingy] and meets this girl and gives her his number and next thing u know he stops calling me and hanging out and even meeting me at our spot at school. Now theyre dating which really ticks me off. Like im over him and everything, but i dont understand why he would tell me to wait and then he meets some random girl and right off the bat decides they are gonna date. And then theres this other guy who i work with and were kinda flirty well he asks me to befriend him on myspace and then he messages me and txts me and at work he asks me for hugs and next thing u know he just stops txting me barely even talks to me. Like he doesnt wanna talk to me when i did nothing but play a little hard to get. I dont wanna txt him first cause i dont wanna seem annoying or anything, but i dont get it. Have you ever been in a situation like that? Maybe u have some advice. Im not being pushy or clingy or ne thing remotely like that, im actually keeping some distance and it seems to me that hes just not interested. Im so confused!?!

Is it ok to date girls that go to my church?
Ok I just recently confessed to God my sins and asked him into my life and became born again. I know there are different view points on dating when it comes to religion.
I have grown up in the church (methodist) and after 15 years out of 24 of my life i was methodist now I converted to Baptist.
Anyway I am a single male going on 25 in August. I am in the Singles and Collage/Career Minisitiries.
I was wondering is it ok to date girls that go to my church? I mean I am very unsecseful at meeting girls. I also believe that somewhere I think its either Colossians or in Corithians that say "A beleiver shouldnt yoke with an unbeliver".
I do go to church and sunday school for the right reasons. But I was just wondering if its ok to date girls at my church. If so what is a good way to ask one to hangout or if not just one particular girl to see if a group and even some of their guy friends and my guy friends hangout one evening or what?
Also what are some great ways to meet girls within the Church? I love to sing but don[t have enough time for the choir yet, however I do workout at the gym in the church and taking ceramics.
Well that is all.
Brandt
Answer: Of course its OK to date girls from the same church you attend, in fact its a good thing really because you both have something in common right from the start, and that is always a blessing.
I am sure that just by attending the church functions that you do, there will be plenty of opportunities for meeting church going girls - if for example the church holds a fate, you could offer to help her on her stall.
I know it is more convenient to go out with a church girl, but remember non church goers can still make good partners. If a non believer loves you enough, they would not stop you from attending your faith, they would respect it as one of your life's choices - and that is not against Gods law. Just the same that you'd respect their wishes if they were a total non believer. Love can conquer all. So don't throw that option away right from the start, you may be letting the girl of your dreams pass you by.
Just take things easy, be casual when you approach either a girl or the whole group - invite them to have coffee, or to have a day out doing something as a group that you would all enjoy. If its a girl singularly again ask her out as a friend. Get to know one another slowly, if you click then nature will step in from there and things will just go according to life's own plan.
I wish you the very best of luck, just don't try to hard, be casual, and may God Bless you all.

Anglican service and Roman Catholic mass?
I used to study in an all girls Anglican school and during service we always sang fun, happy worship songs to which we clapped, danced, jumped along to, with electric guitars and drums as accompaniment. Ive found the way of worship identical to that of some protestant services. (adult/youth) For example, the Methodists. Although, I studied in an Anglican school, I went to a Methodist church on Sundays and the youth/adult services were very lively with the electric guitars, drums and all. The youth especially in the Methodist church love to jump up and down as they sing praise to God during the energetic, rock songs. A common sight seen during Youth Service in some protestant churches. These bring me to my question. I read that Anglicanism came from Roman Catholicism and that the services are similar to mass. I think the word that describes it is liturgical. So, I was wondering if that is how the Anglicans worship, why was my Anglican schools form of worship the total opposite?
Also, do Anglicans believe in intercession of Mary and the saints?
Answer: First, it is true that Anglicanism is an offshoot of Catholicism, and the two are very similar. Most Anglican services are nearly identical to the Catholic Mass. In fact as a Catholic attending an Anglican service in London, I had to listen very carefully to hear any difference. Most Anglican services, like most Catholic Masses, are pretty "traditional." They tend to have less pop culture influence, and you're unlikely to find drums and electric guitars. Both religions have exceptions, however, and apparently your school was one. Generally, when this happens, it's because there's a large, young population. There's nothing that says songs must be of a certain musical genre, and God can be worshipped as easily using electric guitars as using organs. Your school probably felt that using modern music would make you feel more in touch with your religion. It's important to remember, however, that what makes two services similar or different is not the type of music they employ. More important are the prayers, the creeds, the symbols, and the Eucharistic sacrifice.
Also, Anglicanism (like Catholicism) says it's okay to pray to Mary and the saints so long as you remember that worship belongs to God alone.
