How do I find out which plane Im flying on using Cathay Pacific?

I need to get onto the online checkin and get a seat prompty tomorrow. I am very tall so it would help to see a plan of the plane. Does anyone know how to find out which make of airline Cathay Pacific will using for their London-Melbourne flights?
Answer: Run a search on www.cathaypacific.com and take a look at the aircraft identifier next to the flight. I'm going to guess that both segments will be operated by a Boeing 747 (you will need to connect in Hong Kong), since both are relatively high-density long-haul routes. Answer: Depending on the plane you are on you may not need anything as long as your device will run on 110v, or if you if you're on a plane with the older seats, it won't matter because you probably won't have a power port. Call Cathay and ask them if the flight you're on has power ports and what type they have, Cathay uses two types depending on the plane. 1st and business class seats all have power ports and the newer seats will accomodate the type of plugs used in the US. If you've never flown Cathy Pacific before, you really don't need your dvd player, they have great in-flight entertainment and have 10-12 movies to choose from (some Chinese) as well as tv shows, documentaries, sports, news and have game to play as well.

Answer: If you can't get anywhere with Cathay Pacific I sure wouldn't try to ship my dog with them. I can't immagine that there isn't a different way to him it. I'd sure check on Canadian regulations before shipping the dog too. You might get it here and have to ship it back. Cheers.

Why is Cathay Pacific using 2 different config for the same flight number?

I have already booked a flight with Cathay Pacific ( CX902 MNL-HKG,15 th May) and the aircraft in question is a B777-300ER ( 77A) with 3 class layout.When I went back to see if I could upgrade to First Class,it is now showing B777-300 ( 773) but with a 2 class config.Is there First Class on this flight or not.I booked the flight through the Cathay Pacific website
Answer: If the flight is to be operated by a Boeing 777-300, then there is no First Class seating. The 777-300s are limited to Economy and Business Class only. It is worth noting that the Business Class product also differs between the 777-300 and the 777-300ER. The 'ER' stands for 'extended range', so the airline has no doubt found another route for this aircraft to operate. With the flight in question being just 2 hours in duration, an aircraft with long-haul capability isn't necessary. A 777-300 offers just as much seating - and perhaps a little more - but it won't cover quite the same distance.

Answer: A medical assessment will include checking your back and neck to see if there are any problems with lifting, standing, walking. (Their flights are long haul so you have to be able to walk and stand for longer times) Drug tests are administered under the Dept. of Transportation requirements. Could be any of the three methods you mention or it could be a combination of two of those mentioned. Extensive background check will be done on you as well to give you clearance to work at the airport and have ramp access.

How to manage flight booking on Cathay Pacific website?

I booked a ticket on Cathay Pacific through a travel agent. Im wondering if I would be able to manage my booking (i.e. select seat, select meal, etc.) on Cathay Pacific website? If so, how?
Answer: Normally when you book a flight online with Cathay you can choose a seat and special meals at the time of purchase. Your travel agent obviously didn't give you that option. You can check the website to confirm your reservation under >Manage My Trip<, but there's no way to choose a seat or meal there and will need to be an Asia Miles or Marco Polo Club memeber to check. You should probably call Cathay and see if you can choose your seat and meal. Otherwise, you can check in online 48 hrs. prior to the flight and choose a seat and meal, but it's probably best to try calling them first. Btw, unless you have dietary requirements, stick with the standard meal, the food is usually very good and on long haul flights will offer three entree choices.

Any Cathay pilots here? I was wondering how long it takes to move up from the dreaded 2nd Officer rank to Junior FO, then full FO, then Captain. The website doesnt really go in to it. How id CPs pay for a major airline?
Answer: Cathay Pacific uses a system of "promote to command" in order to identify and upgrade their pilots. This normally takes anywhere from 5 years and up to get to captain, less to make First Officer. It is essentially a system that allows them to identify people who would excel and promote them before someone who would not be as qualified. That way, slackers who sit around and do nothing never get upgraded to captain. Their pay is less than many others in the region (i.e. Singapore, Malaysian, etc) however there is far greater potential for growth at a company the size of Cathay.. Captain pay runs about 10k per month USD depending on seniority and the number of hours one flies (give or take a few k) which is ok, but on the lower end compared to what some of Cathay's competitors pay.

Answer: Go to their website and they should have a contact us link. From there you should be able to write your complaint and tell them what happened. The more detail you go into the better and tell Cathay Pacific how the mistake hurt you. The airline overall is really good and they should respond pretty quickly.

Im really interested in it and would like to see if anyone can give me some information about the interview, selection process and training they give if they select you for their 60 week training program in Australia. Answer: How the programme works? There are several stages in there selection process. After the initial screening, short-listed candidates are invited to attend a series of interviews and tests on aptitude, English writing, mathematics, personality as well as a thorough medical examination. Candidates who score well are offered an all-expense paid trip to Australia for flight grading. During the two-week visit, they will assess the candidates' flying potential. The cadets they select through this process then attend a 60-week residential course at Flight Training Adelaide Pty Ltd in Adelaide, Australia – again, at there own expense. Your training begins on the ground with lessons on basic aviation knowledge, aeronautics and technical English. You then learn the fundamentals of visual flight, cross-country flying, long-distance navigation, night-flying and the principles of instrument flight. The intermediate phase of the course includes instrument flight and commercial skills in single-engine aircraft, and an introduction to multi-engine aircraft instrument flight rules and asymmetric procedures. The final phase of the course introduces jet aircraft operations, multi-crew operations, safety standards and efficient operations, passenger considerations and flight operation disciplines. You even have a chance to try your hand at aerobatics! After you have finished the course and successfully passed the necessary examinations, you will receive a Hong Kong Commercial Pilot's Licence with a multi-engine Command Instrument Rating. A Hong Kong Airline Transport Pilot's Licence is issued upon completion of the actual flying hours required. CAREER DEVELOPMENT After you secure your license you may then join there team as a Second Officer in the cockpit on long-haul intercontinental flights. Answer: I fly Cathay many a times every year and they're still one of the best airlines in the world, Skytrax which is world's largest passenger opinion and ratings service for the airline industry rates them as one of only five airlines in the world to receive a 5 star rating. The food and service are top notch and their in-flight entertainment is the best I've ever seen. Also they're in the process of installing new seats on all their long-haul planes, even in economy class the new seats are of a shell design where the seat back in front of you doesn't recline into your space and has on-demand in flight entertainment. Plus, you get to fly through Hong Kong, and if you haven't been to the new (not so new anymore) airport there, it's arguably the best airport in the world. Cathay is a great airline, still one of the best in the world.
