If I have a company based on X country. Can I take it public world wide by having an IPO on a Us stock market, say NASDAQ for example ?

Is it normal for the US stock market to be dropping this much?
Ive only been following the Us stock market for about half a year, but Ive seen the Dow plummet a few times, including 300+ points in one day, at least twice. Is it normal for the market to be going through such volatile cycles, or is it, added with the sub-prime lending mess, the falling dollar, etc. a reason for concern?
Answer: Think about it, 300 points is around 2.5%..... On "Black Monday", the Dow dropped more than ten times that percentage!
If you had invested $1000 the day BEFORE Black Monday (so its value dropped to $700 and change the next day), but you were smart enough to leave it alone and not panic, today it would be worth more than eight times as much!

Korean stock market is very connected with Us stock market. Due to subprime mortgage loan, Korean stock market got damaged a lot. Since subprime mortgage loan, I have been interested in this for so long time. Please tell me how Korean stock market stay independent from Us stock market.
Answer: The simple answer is - it can't. You've heard of the global economy. Well there is also a global stock market. What affects the largest stock market (and economy) in the world, also affects other stock markets. But when the u.s. market goes up, it likely also helps the S Korean market.
I recall in the 90's, the Korean economy had a meltdown. This affected other asian economies & took down asian markets. The u.s. market also went down in sympathy with other markets.
It would be nice if political events & economic events (in other parts of the world) did not affect one's local market. But in truth, it just doesn't work that way.

How does an international student invest on US stock market?
I am an international student. I want to invest my money into the stock market. However, I dont know where I should open an account at. Also, my friend told me if I am only use Visa to enter US, then I dont have to pay tax once I earn money from the stock market. Is that true? Thank you!
Answer: It can be easily done. Just stop by one of the branches of a brokerage firm and tell them that you want to open a foreigner account, then they should be able to help you. Even though you are a foreign student, you may still need to open a domestic account as you lived in the US for more than 183 days consecutively during a calendar year and you may have a tax ID. The best way to find out is talk to the representatives in a brokerage firm. I would recommend you to either pay a visit to their branches or call them at the too free number.
If you are qualified to open an international account ( which I do not think so), you will need:
1. copy of passport that shows the passport number, names, country of issurance and expiration date. Make sure your passport is not expired.
2. A bank or credit card statement or utility bill copy that shows your name, address, account number and the institution's name.
3. A W8 Ben form tto declare you are non US resident
4. A letter of explanation of US mailing address. You need to give reasonable explanation of why you will have an mailing address and why you want to use US mailing address for the account ( if you are going to use an US mailing address)
5. The application form of the brokerage account.
If you are qualified for domestic account, you will simply need to bring your photo ID and your tax ID number to the brokerage office. You will need to fill out a domestic account application and provide information as instructed. The rep will ask you to show him/her your ID and that will be it.
Of course, you may want to bring your check book to fund the account after it's set up.

Is it possible for me to invest in the US stock market while residing in Saudi Arabia? How?
I am a Filipino citizen who wanted to invest in the Us stock market but is presently residing in Saudi Arabia.
Answer: Saudi banks sell shares of mutual funds that are invested in varioUs stock markets, including the Us stock market. And you probably can invest through a Saudi bank in your area.
But with you being a foreigner in Saudi Arabia. You may have to leave the country on a short notice. You would have to liquidate your investment as soons as possible. And you can end up loosing some of your money as a result.
I suggest that you find a bank or a brokerage in the Philippines that allows stock trading in US markets through the internet. And open an account with them.
You will have access to your account through the internet even from Saudi Arabia. And you won't have to worry about having to take your money out on a short notice.
I don't think you can open an account directly in USA. You have to be a US resident in order to have an account there.

What exactly are the "credit worries" associated with the current downturn in the US stock market?
The Us stock market is experiencing a mild sell-off in the the recent weeks (August 2007). People keep talking abotu credit worries that lending companies and maybe even banks may be facing. What exactly is this worry/problem in the credit market, and how serious is it? What is the worst that can happen in the credit market fails? Where is this lack of liquidity (cash) coming from? Answer: William is correct, except that the most recent worries include the fact that the credit problems are not restricted to the subprime market, but borrowers with better credit and income are also defaulting on mortgages.
The result is that credit is being tightened for virtually all borrowers, not just the subprime ones.
