Answer: What Singapore should send is the army shooting team. Afterall, they have access to firearms 24/7 and firing range. These Singapore born shooters will eat and sleep with their rifle for the duration until London 2012.
Afterall, based on the shooting gold medallists history, most of the winners were formerly or currently serving the military. I am very sure that if they get a Bronze medal in the next Olympics, it will definitely increase the number of applicants to serve in the Army.

I need real friends...help! (Yes, Im 27...jeez)?
Hey -
Im a 27 year old guy who lives in DC. Ive lived here since 2008 and frankly, Im sick and tired of hanging out with my current friends. Before I lose my social skillful ability, admittedly I need new friends. Here is my story -
Born Indian, raised Canada/Singapore/(USA – past 10 years) and moved to DC 2008. I have a handful of friends – all socially awkward in their own way. I gave them a chance because (1) they don’t have any other friends, (2) because I’m a ‘nice’ guy, and (3) I need friends to stay myself. In my opinion, they are all weird. Why? Well, here is a sample of the people I know:
1 person is 35, unmarried, single, and is a workaholic. She’s financially stable. She’s actually one of my best friends, but because of our age gap, she’s on the lookout for other friends. Another is extremely socially awkward, quiet, VERY protective and extremely shy; she doesn’t even smile and no I don’t think she has any friends. I can’t hang out with her because she always has money issues, doesn’t smile, and I can’t see her with any humour. Ugh! Another is muslim – doesn’t drink, smoke, or dance. That’s fine – no biggy, but she has a load of family drama and isn’t much of a learner. Oh and she’s very protective. Any question you ask her – her response is “oh, wouldn’t you like to know?”. I mean really? You want a friend like that after knowing them for 9 months? So this is my sample.
Who am I? I run marathons, I volunteer at a hospital, I am studying for my GMAT, I work like a dog, but I’m a loner. I can’t seem to find the right people. All the social groups occur on weekdays and I need help filling my weekends up with people who ‘want’ to do things; not the weekdays – I have no time. I don’t want to date – I just want friends.
I don’t think I’m socially awkward. I spend a lot of time on my personal development to include: reading, mannerisms, showing interest by asking a lot of questions, yoga, crossfit, running, etc… I try to meet people – just not at bars or clubs. I don’t think I’m a bad looking guy. I strive for fitness and athletics.
So, where do I go? What do I do? Help please! Should I consider match.com? eharmony? I’m almost at that juncture.
So to a few of you who have given me fruitful responses - thank you, but youre not helping me here. Ill explain why:
One of you mentioned to take the who the f cares attitude. I love to dance - I dance like the world is a stage and were all actors on it. I dance to house music, without the world watching. I get approached - I dont like it. My see your point, but I care, because the world is a mean perception. It sucks. You have to care, which is why mannerisms matter so much. Why not care?
Another pointed out changing my attitude and appreciate my friends. I know that - thats not news to me which is why "they are my friends". If you read through the intent, Im looking for a different set of friends. Its a matter of preference. Its a BIG change for me. I appreciated and embraced them. Its not my cup of tea. Everyone has preferences. Mine are different. Im here to find people who do what "i do".

Answer: i too have social awkwardness. i fantasize about going out with groups of friends to emark on some sort of crazy adventure. and i used to be the popular kid in middle school, with friends that cares about me. life in highschool just turned upside down. but im getting better now because im forcing myself to face my fears. you are having difficulties breaking barriers with others right? my advice for you, is to change ur attitude. social awkwardness is an attitude issue. in your case, i just wouldnt care anymore. the KEY to curing this is..."who the f*ck cares." keep saying that in your mind. this is a rule i made for myself. and it establishes base. like a ground for me to fall on. you know? you dont want to fall in an endless pit...establish your ground!! its going to hurt, but it is well..well worth it.

im now 18 years old...
from primary 4-6 i played table tennis and badminton...i was in the school team for both sports...i was a very outstanding table tennis player and an above average badminton player...
in secondary school, i played basketball for 4 years...again i became one of the best basketball players in the school...but i lack the height, standing at only 173 cm...furthermore, there wasnt any school team in my school during my time...
i was also a very good middle to long distance runner...having run an event, some sort like a team marathon( which is basically a marathon, but the team runs together )...my team came in first...my 2.4 km record is 9 mins 45 secs, which isnt tat bad considering i dont really train in 2.4km runs cause i run alot in basketball already...
my dream is to be an athlete, now im in polytechnic studying business management and also focusing on gaining body mass...how do i become an athlete in Singapore??

Answer: There's no sure way to know. Getting into harvard isn't easy. Sometimes, people who'd graduated number 1 in their class can't get in. Harvard, just like any college looks for diversity in their students. Have you watched the movie 21? In it, they say that to get into Harvard, you have to 'dazzle' them. Your profile is good, that much is certain. But does it dazzle? that's where I'm not sure. There are hundreds other applicants who have excellent profiles like yours. You could try to get in, but remember, excellent grades sometimes don't mean as much as other things.

Running with sunglasses:When running in a marathon, where do I place my sunglasses when I have no need for it?
im running in Singapore, which experiences Equatorial climate. My marathon is starting at 8am, where usually, the sunlight gets pretty glaring, so im geared up with a pair of sunglasses for my race.
However, what if on the race day itself, the sun starts to get glaring only at say; 8.30. Where do i place my sunglasses from 8 to 8.30? pull them up over my head? or Do i just wear them throughout the race?
Answers are greatly appreciated.
Answer: put them in a small case made of material and clip it to your pocket or something.

im now 18 years old...
from primary 4-6 i played table tennis and badminton...i was in the school team for both sports...i was a very outstanding table tennis player and an above average badminton player...
in secondary school, i played basketball for 4 years...again i became one of the best basketball players in the school...but i lack the height, standing at only 173 cm...furthermore, there wasnt any school team in my school during my time...
i was also a very good middle to long distance runner...having run an event, some sort like a team marathon( which is basically a marathon, but the team runs together )...my team came in first...my 2.4 km record is 9 mins 45 secs, which isnt tat bad considering i dont really train in 2.4km runs cause i run alot in basketball already...
my dream is to be an athlete, now im in poly and focusing on gaining body mass...how do i become an athlete in Singapore??
Answer: Honestly, I don't think that height should be much of a problem, seeing that the female captain of the Singapore Basketball team only stands at 1.6m. The main thing is to get spotted by a scout. Join a team or check the schedule for tryouts.
